Healers don't fall in love with mages. And they certainly don't accept a marriage proposal from the most irritable, work-obsessed one of them all, the Minister of Magic, Master Sedgewick Alverdyne. For optimistic ex-battle healer, Feyla Everbloom, however, the Healer's Guild's hostile opinion of mages can't convince her to abandon the man she's long loved.

But when a wizard out for revenge threatens the guild, Feyla becomes sucked back into the life she thought she left behind. As the healers race to get to the criminal before the Magic Ministry, Feyla becomes divided between the beliefs of her former calling and her relationship with Sedgewick. Pressure begins to mount as Feyla struggles to balance her new life and her old in the face of growing disapproval and rejection.

Ties are broken and loyalties are tested as Sedgewick and Feyla's time-tested foundation begins to crumble. They must act quickly because unbeknownst to everyone, time is running out.
