Presence that changes everything
Hello everyone! Here we are standing almost at the end of this confusing story, but even though it wasn't what I wanted it to be I let characters do what they want and there we have third version of the same chapter, I hope you'll like it anyway and you won't want to kill me.
Have a nice time that's left before Christmas and I will be back soon with few new things;)
"Sam! Sam!" He woke up again when Ellie gave him a few palm cheeks. "Thanks, you didn't hurry" she added teasingly. Her mood was slowly going back to normal.
"Where is Light?" Sam asked and began to search around for fire haired boy in anxiousness.
"Who is he talking about?" Ellie whispered into Elvis' ear. Sam's two friends were standing in his house in corner of the living room, looking at their team leader behaving like the grief had taken over his senses.
Not long time later Ellie and Elvis had to leave Sam, because alarm at fire station had went off and they were needed in the mountains. Even if they left their team leader in hurry, it could be felt in the air that they worried a lot.
But Sam, after searching whole house few times, looking for a ghoust boy, he gave up and sat disappointed on the armchair with the weird lantern before him. He touched it softly, wondering if something like magic could really existed.
"You are even more stubborn than she told me" Sam heard right in his ear a missing boy's voice.
"Who told you?" Sam asked Light, underlining each one of three words.
"Your friend" he throw and using his magic he disappeared once more, but he quickly appeared sitting on the floor before the table on which the lantern was standing. "Penny" Light added precisaly.
"She wasn't just my friend, she was my best..." Sam confessed melancholicaly, feling a single tear ran down his cheek. However Light didn't let him explain he knew whole story too well, so he just reached and tried once again to do what he was suppossed to do.
That was exactly the moment little ghost boy was waiting for. His magic could work only if a grieving person accepted the grief and would be willing to search once again for a light.
The dark hallway hit deep Sam's concioussness once more. The same smell of put out fire, but then when Sam was standing in that hallway, he didn't know how wrong he was, thinking the fire was out. 'But maybe there was still time...' Sam thought when he noticed how Penny was checking something near the corner.
"Penny, we need to go out" Sam tried to react, but Light, whose presence Sam hadn't noticed before, laid his hand on his shoulder.
"She can't hear you. I'm not a changer of the past, I am only trying to bring hope out of it" the ghoust explained.
"How do you think you can find hope in this?" Sam asked showing Light the scene, right in the moment when Sam appeared.
"What are you trying to prove Penny?" Sam from the past laid his hand on Penny's shoulder to look at her work.
"You know, I'm just checking" she shrugged her shoulders and turned around as she wanted to see something on the other wall. "Go, Sam, I will be right after you" she tried to catch one more minute, but Sam didn't walk away even a step.
"We were supposted to stick together until the end of the action, weren't we?" He asked anxiously.
"Always till the end, Sam" she squeezed his hand, but quickly after she lowered her gaze and let go of Sam's hand. "Go, Sam, I'm telling the truth" she begged, when they heard like something crumbled inside those walls surrounding them.
"You know I'm not leaving you?" Sam asked and tried to pull Penny to the exit, but she was quicker and before he could say something she turned around and began quick check once more. Sam standing few steps away was still standing there, not wanting to let Penny win without a fight.
"I don't want to look anymore. Please, Light, make us come back, I know you can" Sam begged.
"No, that's the one and only rule never to be broken" Light answered stubbornly, he was as sticky to rules as Penny.
"I've been chased by this moment all this time, whenever I close my eyes" Sam argued. He didn't really want to be inside this events once more.
"But you're still can't find hope in them, so that's why you'll be standing there, watching till the end."
Suddenly noisy exploision noise and everything around Sam and Light dissapeared.
"I don't understand what happened" Sam found himself again on his sofa with Light holding the lantern and nervously walking in place. "You should see whole scene, before I could turn back lantern. But it just happened like you found hope".
"Listen Light, if you had showed me her death once more, I would have never again found hope in anything. But I felt like... like" it was so hard to Sam to hold back tears and at the same time trying to put into words what he had experienced inside Loght's vision.
"Like you're freeing your grief after Penny and letting hope find home inside you" Light jumped into the air from joy when Sam hesitantly nodded his head.
"She died, because she was trying to save me and I was too stubbornly trying to save her" Sam whispered under the issue of tears filling his eyes the last time.
"This stubbornness from my light is love" Light kneeled down next to his sender, picked his chin a little and smiled. "Penny wanted me to tell you she will always be there " he pointed to Sam's heart, but Light's smile faded a little. "It is my time to say goodbye, I did what I was sent to do" Sam felt the warm of ghost's fire hair on his face and he instinctivately closed his eyes, but when he opened it Light was still there. The boy was now not looking any diffrent, except his hair wasn't on fire anymore.
"You're the one! You're the one!" Light began wild dance like a little child happy that he found under a Christmas tree what he wanted by the whole year. "I'm finally free" Light jumped on Sam and they both fall down on the floor. "I'm a not a sender anymore!" His joy was so familiarly overwhelming that even Sam laughed out loud first time from weeks.
