Chapter 6

"Alright," you nod to yourself as you finish putting the last of the ingredients into the small cauldron, "Rose, could you get me the tongs."

'Sure thing.' Rose nods.

She jumps up on the adjacent table. She grabs the metal tongs in her mouth before leaping across to the table you were currently working at, landing gracefully. She places the tongs down.

'There you go.' She says, sitting down beside you.

"It is very much appreciated." You say and pick up the metal tool.

You stir the reddish colour concoction with the tongs; you perk up when you feel something hard in the liquid. With little difficulty, you grab the object and pull it out. Once the concoction had leaked off of the object it revealed a bright red crystal. You smile and set the crystal on a small metal rack that was sitting beside the cauldron. Red liquid still dropped off of it and onto the wooden table.

"Well while that's cooling I'll make Eridan's wand." You nod.

You walk over to another table that had your carving tools and a small piece of wood that you would soon turn into a wand. You pause when you notice something was missing.

"Hey Rose, do you know where the Dresm went?" you ask, glancing at the familiar.

'You put in the cupboard to your left.' She replies.

You walk over and open up the cupboard, and sure enough there it was. You take the bottle and sit it down on the table.

"Okay, let's get this done."

After a long while you had finally finished carving the wand, you had even finished carving the centre of it out. Although now you had a few plasters on your fingers since you weren't exactly careful when slicing off the wood. You use a stand to hold the wand in place. You then grabbed the bottle of Dresm and undid the cork top. You slowly poured the purplish liquid into the centre of the wand. You put the cork back in and sit the bottle back down on the table.

"Now all I have to do is wait for it to harden." You mumble and walk off.

You go back to the table that had your crystal and pick up the blood red object, which was now dry. You look over at Rose and gesture for her to go upstairs. She nods and trots on up, you follow up not long after.

You walk into the kitchen where your staff was residing. You pick up the white staff and gently place the crystal onto the top end. There's a small light and you look away. When you look back you see that the crystal had fused with the staff.

"Ignis." You mumble and the end of the staff lights up with a small fire.

When you don't move the staff the fire goes out. You smile at your handy work and look over at Rose, who had sat on the counter.

'It turned out well for a first staff.' She nods.

"Yeah, I thought it wouldn't work." You shrug.

You sigh in relief when you finally finish drying the dishes. You look around to talk to Rose but realise that she was not in the room. You shrug and walk down the hall to your magic room. You look at Eridan's wand to see that it had finished drying. You pick it up and spin it in your hands. You slip the wand into the bag that was sitting beside you. You slung the bag over your shoulder. You walked upstairs and grabbed your staff before heading off to Eridan's.

Once you got to Eridan's you knock on the door. It only took a few moments before the door opened.

"Hi Eridan," You smile, "I've got your wand."

"Hello (y/n)," Eridan replies, "please, come on in."

Eridan steps aside and you walk in, you both head into the lounge. You open up your bag and pull out the white wand. You turn to face Eridan and hold the wand out. Eridan's eyes light up in joy as he takes it. He looks over the small object and his grin widens. His fingers trace over the carvings in the white wood. You smile as you watch him examine the magic item.

"Thank you." Eridan says, looking up at you.

"Well, you've helped me out since I moved into town," you shrug, "it's only right I repay you."

Eridan glances at the staff in your hand.

"So that's what you wanted the phoenix feather for." Eridan nods towards the pale staff.

"Yep!" you grin.

"Well it looks amazing." He awes.

"Thank you, it too quite some time to carve." You say proudly.

"So, do you want to stay for a cup of tea?" Eridan asks.

Just before you reply to his offer, there's a loud erratic banging on the front door. Both you and Eridan glance at each other before heading towards the front door. Eridan opens the wooden door to reveal a panicked looking child.

"Elias, what's wrong?" Eridan asks, kneeling down in front of the boy.

The boy was panicking too much to be able to reply, he just continued to take fast breaths and tears began to fall down his cheeks.

"Calm down Elias." Eridan says in a low, soothing voice.

"Monsters are attacking the village!" he manages to say through his panicked breathing and sobs.
