Chapter 32
"Hey, can you guys see a village, or is that just me?"
"No, I'm pretty sure it is a village."
"It is, and it looks pretty big."
"Wait, I didn't think that the Life Kingdom had any villages."
"It doesn't."
"It must be the next village, the Space Kingdom."
The six of you all continue to converse as you walk closer and closer towards what you all assumed to be a village. You adjust the staff which was still sitting between your back and bag. Rose was now asleep in your arms, fast asleep.
As soon as you enter the village, you're surrounded by busy people rushing around. You hope that none of you would get lost amongst the crowd. Hopefully you could find a nice place to sleep.
Luckily it wasn't long before you managed to escape the crowd. The first person you see is Eridan, and you instantly walk towards him. Just as you reach him, Vriska appears out of the crowd. That left three more people to wait for. Rose, who had now made her way to sit on your shoulder, meows.
'There's Karkat.'
You turn around, seeing the short figure looking around.
"Karkat, over here!"
He turns, and sighs in relief at the sight of you three.
"Thank fuck I found you guys." He groans.
"Yeah, you probably couldn't see over the heads of all those people."
That earns you a punch to the side. It's another minute before Sollux appears; face red from the heat and probably irritation. He nearly bumps into several people on his way over to you all. Now all that was left was Feferi. You lean against Eridan, your feet sore from all of the walking you had been doing. You had no idea if it annoyed him, but he didn't say anything about it.
"Where the hell did that little fairy shit go?" Karkat curses.
"I'm not sure," you shrug, "but she must be seriously lost."
"Alright, I'll go back to find her." Sollux sighs before going back into the crowd.
~~~
It had been nearly 10 minutes by the time Sollux reappeared, but with no Feferi.
"Did you not find her?"
Sollux shakes his head with a sigh. By now, majority of the crowd had disappeared. But there was no Feferi in sight.
"Maybe she left." Vriska shrugs.
You sigh, not knowing what to do.
"Alright, let's find somewhere to stay the night," you finally speak up, "we'll look for her tomorrow morning."
The others grumbly agree, all trudging towards the closest inn. The others sit around the bar as you go to ask for a few rooms.
"Hi, how can I help you?" the woman asks.
"Um, may I get two rooms?" you ask.
"Of course, that's 10 gold."
You nod and pull out the gold that Eridan had given you and hand it to her.
"Thank you, here are your keys."
You thank her before walking back towards your companions.
"Here's the key for your room," You hand Eridan a key; "we all need to get some sleep so we can get up early tomorrow."
Everyone agrees, albeit annoyed, and all go to your rooms to sleep. You dump all of your stuff down beside one of the small beds and collapse onto it. You hear Vriska lay down and you just stare at the wall, silently passing time.
~~~
You were laying there for at least an hour, staring at the stone wall. Once you were sure that Vriska and the others would be asleep, you quietly get up. Rose was still asleep at the end of the bed, and Vriska was still passed out. You grab your staff and sneak out of the room. You manage to get outside of the inn without any of your comrades finding you or waking up. You let out a sigh of relief.
"I guess we had the same idea."
You let out a shriek, turning to face the familiar healer.
"Sollux, you scared the living shit out of me." You breathe.
"Sorry," he shrugs, "guessing you're going to look for Feferi."
"Yeah, I'm worried."
"Alright, let's go."
Two is better than one, so you just nod.
