Chapter 13
"Wow, it's been so long since we've seen a village!" you exclaim happily.
"It's been about a day." Eridan rolls his eyes.
"Well the last village we were at tried to kill us." You grunt.
Eridan doesn't reply to your comment, making you grin in satisfaction.
Both you and Eridan walk into the town, this time down the main street. You look around at all of the new shops that lined the streets. You sigh in relief when you see a magic shop, so you knew that they wouldn't try to kill you. You had noticed that this village was much bigger and livelier than Skaia. You really wanted to go crazy and go buy a bunch of stuff, but you were in the middle of a quest, and you had barely any coins left. There was only one other issue; you had no idea where an inn was.
"Hey Eridan, we should ask if anyone knows where we can get a place to stay." You nudge Eridan in the side.
"Yeah, alright." Eridan huffs.
The both of you stop at a stall on the side of the street. Your mouth practically watered as you looked across all of the fresh fruits that sat in the front.
"Ooh, can I please get an Reins Apple." You smile at the man running the stall.
"Sure thing, that's three copper coins." The young man replies cheerfully.
You quickly grab out your satchel of coins and pull out three copper pieces, handing them to him. Once you put the satchel into your pant pocket you pick up one of the fresh pinkish red fruits.
"Say, do you know an inn that we could stay in?" you ask, taking a bite of the apple.
"Why yes, just keep walking until you come to the alley, cross through there and on the other side is the inn." The stall keeper instructs.
"Thank you!" you smile and walk off, Eridan just behind you.
You push through the crowded street, feeling slightly claustrophobic. You were never used of being in such crowded places. You let out a sigh of relief when you see the alley the man had spoken of. As soon as you step into the alley you take a deep breath.
"Damn this place is crowded." You hear Eridan groan.
"You're telling me." You laugh.
Just as you were about to exit the alley a man jumps forward, blocking your entrance.
"Well, well, well, what have we here," he chuckles darkly, "magicians is it? What a lucky day."
Just as you were about to pull out your staff the man whips out two small cylinders. You recognise them instantly. The cylinders were what were called shots. They had small triggers in the side of them, which when pulled, let out a deadly shot of fire magic. When someone is hit with one of these, whether it is in the stomach or just a scrape on the shoulder, they would slowly begin to burn up until they were nothing but ash. They were highly illegal in most kingdoms, but people still managed to get their hands on them.
"Don't move a muscle," the thief speaks up, "otherwise you're dead."
You gulp as you move your hands so the held up beside your head. You don't even glance back at Eridan, just in case the thief took it as a sigh you were going to attack and shoot you.
You couldn't see the thief's face due to the hood he was wearing and the shadows cast by the setting sun on the buildings. But at this point it didn't really matter; all you cared about was not being hit with those disgusting weapons in his hands.
You flinch slightly when the man makes his way towards you. The only part of his face you could see was his mouth, which was twisted into a grin. His advance makes Rose hiss, but you quickly silence her.
"It's been way too long since I've come across you magic folk." The man chuckles.
You hold your breath as he stands right in front of you, his smell almost made you gag. The thief presses one of the Shots against your chest.
"Don't make a single move." He growls, leaning closer to your face.
When he doesn't move you begin to panic even more. You manage to catch his gaze from underneath his hood. His eyes were dark, almost black, and filled with malice and evil intent. Your eyes almost burnt just looking at them. You couldn't look much longer as you looked away.
He looks at you for a while longer before chuckling again. He takes a step back and looks you up and down.
"Maybe I should have some more fun after I look through your stuff." As he says this he pull open one of the buttons on your shirt.
You wanted to hit him so badly, but you were almost frozen in fear. You hear a shuffle behind and the man swiftly pulls the Shot up, pressing it against my forehead
"What did I say about moving." The man growls loudly enough for both you and Eridan to hear.
You gulp as the man slowly lowers the Shot; he then walks around behind you. You could only hear what he was doing as you could not move. He walks a few steps before stopping at you could assume Eridan. You could hear him whispering, probably tormenting Eridan. It took all of your will power as to not turn around and attack, but the thief probably had a Shot pointed at Eridan so you couldn't take the risk.
'Oh no,' you think, 'we're done for.'
"Don't you dare." You heard Eridan growl.
"Oh, and who are you to stop me?" you hear the stranger say.
The talking then stops and you hear footsteps walk closer to you and the man comes back around to face you.
"Now, since your friend over there was being so rude," the man grins, "I think I'll have some fun first."
Your eyes widen as he undoes yet another one of your buttons.
'Oh shit!'
