Kitten Camp
A door near the back of the building led to a large square field with trees, streams, and rock piles. This was where the camp would be.
They were shown where all the litter boxes and sleeping boxes were, then they were shown a small man-made cave full of food bowls that were labeled and colour-coded for each kitten.
"I'm still scared." stated Willow. "Especially because we weren't told not to bully anyone. We were only told not to bully the humans."
"Oh stop being a scaredy-human!" Oak told her. "It'll be fun!" then he mumbled "I hope"
Sunlight ran off to explore and didn't come back for a while.
Oak went to gather wood because Willow had begun complaining about being cold.
He built a small fire for her and lit it. The pile of twigs burst into flames at the touch of his forepaws, creating a mini bonfire.
Willow lay down facing the fire. The heat flooded over her, making her sleepy.
As she fell asleep, everyone else went off to do their own things.
A sleek black kitten ran over to the fire, he had dark orange eyes and a blood-red collar. "Well this isn't a human-made fire." He stated.
He shook Willow until she woke up. She jumped, and backed up a few paces. "Did you make this fire?" The kitten asked.
"No, Oak did." Willow said. She began inching closer to the fire.
The kitten laughed. "Who's Oak? Is he your imaginary friend?" he didn't sound like he was teasing. He actually sounded genuinely curious. It still made Willow angry, however. As it sounded like he assumed she didn't have any actual friends.
Willow puffed her fur up with anger. "No, he's my brother! And he's the biggest of the litter!"
The kitten laughed again. "Litter! Like a litterbox!" He rolled over with laughter, keeping his belly protected by his legs.
Willow had an idea. She placed her freezing cold paw on him.
The kitten screamed and ran away shouting. "It's a witch! She has cold ice magic! She nearly froze me to death!"
Willow curled up and went back to sleep.
Sunlight sat on a rock. She had found the tallest rock in the camp and would not give it up to any other kitten. She glared at all of the passing kittens as if daring them to try and get it.
A few of them had already attempted the challenge and given up with a few scratches.
Sunlight watched everything that went on below her. She saw the kitten shake Willow awake, and watched as he ran away screaming.
She looked closely as he passed her and saw a wet paw print on his side where Willow had touched him.
"You didn't get frozen at all, only wet!" She called as he passed.
This gave her an idea. She made a snow cloud over his head. He panicked more and fainted.
"No, the ice witch!" He muttered in his sleep.
A calico kitten with light green eyes walked up to Sunlight's rock. She wore a hot pink collar, and had soft, well-groomed fur.
Sunlight hissed. "Get away from my rock!"
"Uh, sorry." The kitten stammered.
The calico headed over to the kitten whom Sunlight had terrified. He was now covered in snow from Sunlight's powers.
"No, stay away from me, ice witch!" He exclaimed, sitting up.
"Sorry." the calico stuttered as she backed away.
"Wait!" Called the black kitten. "You're not the ice witch. I was dreaming about her!" He looked around. "How did I get covered in snow?" He wondered aloud.
"That was me." Said Sunlight, walking over to them.
The tom-kitten screamed. "Another ice witch!"
The calico came back. "Ice witch?"
"Someone with evil magic cold stuff!" Said the other kitten. "Like her!" He flicked his tail towards Willow and then Sunlight.
"Oh ok." the calico said.
"Willow doesn't have powers." Sunlight said, still glaring at both of them. "And mine are controlling the weather, not ice!" She hissed.
"Well, I'm Daniel." The tom-kitten introduced.
"I'm Sarina," said the calico.
"I'm bored" said Sunlight, turning back to her rock.
Sarina left too. And Daniel headed in the same direction that Oak had gone.
When Daniel found Oak, he was wandering aimlessly in a clearing.
"So you must be the fire wizard." Daniel said.
The ground beneath Oak's paws burst into flames the moment Daniel said fire.
Daniel ran away screaming. "It's true!"
Oak discovered that he couldn't be hurt by fire.
"Wait!" he called, running after Daniel. "I didn't mean to scare you!"
As he caught up with Daniel, he started talking. "I automatically light fires whenever I hear the word fire." he explained.
Daniel still looked scared. "Doesn't it hurt you?"
"Not me, but it can hurt others." Oak answered with a warning tone. "I think the humans sent me here to learn self-control, so that I can control my fire and avoid hurting others. Which I generally try anyway." he growled.
He held up his paw and lit it on fire. "It could be useful for defense too, 'cause my humans de-clawed me." He changed the flame into four tiny flames and placed them where his claws would be. "It's like fake, really strong claws."
Daniel looked mesmerized, staring into the fire with wide eyes. "That's amazing!"
Willow woke the next morning with her paws covered in frost. As she stood up she realized that she didn't feel as cold as usual.
"Did it snow last night?" She asked, ignoring the fact that she didn't feel cold. No answer came.
Willow let her half-broken tail fall to the ground, she was alone, she had assumed that someone was around to answer her question.
She sniffed the air, searching through the darkness that her blindness brought with it. If there was someone nearby Willow would smell it.
She headed towards the scent of her sister, Sunlight was sure to answer a question about the weather.
The snow seemed to form beneath her paws, right as she put it down. Her whiskers could sense that dirt was under her paw, but as she set it down she stepped into snow.
Sunlight watched her sister interestedly. It was almost like watching Oak create fire, the snow and ice followed Willow. As she walked, snowy paw prints were left behind, although there had been no snow in front of her.
"Did it snow last night?" Willow asked.
Sunlight shook her head.
"Did you answer?" Willow tilted her head at her sister.
Sunlight smacked herself in the face with her tail. "No, it didn't snow last night. Even if it did, there's a roof."
Willow thought for a moment. "Did you put snow clouds under my paws?"
To this Sunlight responded "Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why would I?"
"I don't know. It's the only explanation I could think of."
Sunlight attempted to imitate Shadow's half-shrug. "I guess you might have snow and ice powers then?"
Willow nodded. "That makes sense. And maybe I couldn't do it until I wasn't close to any heat, like fire, or Oak."
"Oak is a heat source?"
"Yeah, he's always warmer than anyone else." Willow clarified. "Maybe his fire powers make him extra hot and my ice powers make me extra cold." she concluded.
"And yet your personalities are reversed." Sunlight hissed softly. "You're super soft and kind and Oak is short-tempered and cold-natured."
