Magic Bliss Café

The colourful chimes rang a gentle tune, as the customer makes his way towards the seat.
Right next to the window like always.
This customer, who has been repeating the same routine for months on end, drives me nuts.
The same customer with spiky blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.

4pm. Sharp. No sooner, no later. Just at that exact time.

I let out a small sigh, as I walk over to the customer.
He was our regular, and he orders the exact same thing every single time.
Before he even spoke, I predicted what he was going to order-
A blueberry danish pastry and a coffee. With a spoonful of skim milk and two spoonfuls of sugar.
That's what he always ordered.

"I'd like a blueberry danish, and a coffee. With one spoonful of skimmed milk and two spoonfuls of sugar." He said.

His voice had a slight Danish accent to it, but I didn't even need to write his order down. I knew it by heart now.
It's been 6 times a week for 3 months now.

Surprisingly enough, his voice was soothing, and it was a bit raspy.
Like most guys who are going through voice changes.

I nodded and pretended to scribble it down, and prepared it myself.
Emil, my brother was in charge of the 'for to-go' works and customer questions.

He was also in charge of washing the dishes.
He's a good brother who is crafty with his hands. He can be a bit insecure at times, and I'd wish he'd see that he's perfectly fine the way he is. Emil is a bit anti social at school, and he doesn't have any friends. I'd wish he'd make a few at least. Kids his age need to learn how to let loose and have fun. Not worry about money...

I grinded the coffee beans, and waited for the water to boil at the same time.
The water was still boiling, so I took the blueberry danish and heated it up in the microwave.
The café isn't just any old café.
It was also our home.
The living room was transformed into the bakery.
The kitchen stayed where it was. There were stairs that lead up from the kitchen.
Luckily, our kitchen is separate from the living room.
It made life a lot more easier.
From the outside, we made a sign hanging over our door.
'Magic Bliss Café'.
I remember that we worked so hard on the wooden sign, and put up posters everywhere. I redesigned our door and windows to make it more like a café. Flower pots were planted outside to add colour.
All in all, it was a success.

Due to family complications which I'd rather not talk about...
My brother and I have been running this café for quite a while now. We refused to go to the orphanage, and after a while, I guess they got tired of trying to track us down.
It's a good thing though.

As the water boiled, I brewed the coffee beans, and then it was blended.
It all took five minutes to prepare.
I added one spoonful of skimmed milk and two spoonfuls of sugar.
Just the way he likes it.

I got the plate out of the microwave, and placed it on his table, forcing myself to smile.

"Here's your order, sir."

The next day it was the exact same thing.
4pm, sharp.
Blueberry Danish and a coffee.

I was loosing my mind trying to understand the other's mind.
I'll call him stupid Dane for now.

The next day, it was...

A blueberry Danish. With a coffee.
Ughhhhh, I don't get it!
How does he have so much time to come over here every single day of the week??

Even on school days too, ugh.
The stupid Dane either has no life or really likes it here.
I'll just assume he has no life.
He looked around the same age as me, so that's a count towards no life.
.
.
.

Seriously, he's driving me nuts.

"I'd like a-" I cut him off.
I had my head in the clouds and I really didnt mean to cut him off. Curse you, brain.

"A blueberry danish and a coffee- a spoonful of skimmed milk and two spoonfuls of sugar." I finished for him.

"Wow... That's correct!! I'm at a loss for words. That's amazing, Norge!" The stupid Dane flashed a bright smile.

"Norge?? That's not my name..." I gestured to my name tag.

"I know!! But I call you Norge because you have a Norwegian accent, and I called you George before! So I combined the two together." He explained.

Yes, he called me George before to catch my attention.

I forced to myself to smile at him.
Smiling is important at this kind of job.

"How lovely... Please, call me Lukas.
I remember your order because I have noticed you come here every single day. Thank you for that." I also forced myself to be polite.
He's really irritating me at the moment.

His sky blue eyes lit up like stars.
"But still... I feel honored that my order is memorized." The Dane chuckled.

"Hmm... Alright, Lukas. My name is Mathias! I really like this place, the food here is great."

I nodded, and turned away to prepare his order.
It's just the same like any other day.
He seemed really impress that I remembered his order.

I placed it onto his table.

"Thanks! It's really cool how you remember it though. I'm honestly really honored." He flashed a grin at me, then returned to indulging the sweets.

After he finished it, I handed him the bill.
It was only 5.25 dollars.

I continued serving the customers.
Most of the customers I serve come here only once a week or its their first time.

The café was still pretty new, but my brother and I have our hopes for it.
We rely on it to get food on our tables.
