Family

((3rd Person P.O.V))

Just as Lukas left to his next class, Mathias got up as well, silently glaring the other down. He was done.

Done with Berwald constantly going for the same people he likes. He swears that it isn't even coincidence and that the other is just doing it to piss him off.
If that were the case, he's succeeding.

With a sigh, Mathias knew he had to speak with Berwald to clear things up. The warning fight before certainly didn't work. He figures it's not worth it anymore to waste more time on the Swede.

Without another word, the Dane got up and left.

As the end of school reaches it's peak, Mathias looks around for Lukas.
He was hoping they'd get to know each other more... that opportunity was taken away by a certain someone.

"Mathias!"

Just as he got to his locker, he swore he could've heard his name, but he doesn't see anyone he recognises.

"Mathias!"

There it is again. He figures he must be hearing things. He looks toward where the source of his name might be from, spotting white hair in the process.
It was Emil, Lukas' younger brother. At least, that's what Lukas refers to him as.

"Emil! What's up, bro?"

"I finally found you!" The boy walked towards Mathias as he opened his locker and took out his backpack.

"Lukas is apparently meeting Berwald at Fairy Zone park on Saturday at 5. It was marked on the calendar when I woke up. I went to school early today just to find you. I didn't think your locker would be in the music hall... Anyways, I was wondering if you could do me a favour and look out for my broth- Lukas. I'm really worried about him and I don't trust Berwald that much..." Emil said.

Oh great... Mathias feels really curious about why they were hanging out. He really didn't think they were that close. Unless if Berwald were to confess his feelings...

Wait or was it a date?

Just by thinking of that, Mathias couldn't help but feel a bit rejected at the thought. If... Lukas really prefers Berwald over him... He doesn't exactly know how to respond to that. It's not like him and Lukas were together in the first place either.

"Okay. I'll look out for him for you." That just slipped out of Mathias' lips without him thinking about it.

"Alright! Thanks a lot, Mathias. I would do it myself but I'm heading over to Leon's house that day. Ah, I should get going." Emil groaned after checking his watch.

"I'm definitely getting a lecture when I get home." He grumbled, taking off.

Mathias gave a small chuckle to the teen, and walked his way home.

He lives about half an hour away from the school. If only he was two kilometers more to the left then he would be allowed to get on the school bus... but nope. It's the government's policy.

"I'm home!" The Dane says, as he walks in his house.

"Hello, sweetie! How was school today?"

... He's hearing things again. When he walks in, there was no one there to greet him. He takes his shoes off and heads upstairs, where one of his parents laid.

"Hello, mother. How are you feeling today?" He asked.

A woman in her late thirties was lying on the bed. Normally she would be bursting with energy, her best feature being her smile. Mathias is glad that he inherited most of his mother's features.
The woman had blonde hair that is as thick as a lion's mane, and beautiful long eyelashes. At least... her hair used to be as thick as a lion's mane... he sees the many more strands of hair that are on her pillow.

"Mom...?" Mathias lightly taps her cold arm.

There was a bucket beside the bed in case if she throws up.
Mathias scrunches his face at the smell, and he should have been terrified that it wasn't the normal stuff one vomits out.
It was blood. The first time she did it was terrifying. Then slowly, he got used to it.

A water bottle was on the bedside and a towel as well.

The woman shifts a bit in her sleep, gradually opening her eyes to greet her son. She lets out a small smile, even if it was small, it had the vibe to it that it was energetic.

"Today at school, I met the guy I like. Yeah, it's the same guy from the café I was talking to you about. The one I go to every single day. It's a really small world. I assumed that he would be homeschooled or something, ha...
I'll let you rest now. I hope you will feel better soon." Mathias says, kissing his mother's forehead.

"Mathias... I love you."

"I love you too, mom. Rest up. If you need anything just ring the bell beside the towel."

He knows that she has cancer. She should be at a hospital, with IV's and everything else.

The only thing is... Expenses...
He knows that she is slowly dying and with each passing day, he has to live through the thought of never being able to see her again. Mathias doesn't even know where his dad disappeared off to. He's usually gambling away his money or drunk.

He shakes the feelings away. Sure, he misses the old times... But, he has to stay strong for his mom. Stay happy for her. Live for her.

He just wants to get away from here. Even if it's just for a little bit. To get away from his home to forget about what's exactly happening.

That's where Magic Bliss Café comes in. In a way, it's a terrible habit. It's similar to his father's and Mathias grunts at himself of disapproval.
