-Usagi's POV-

I was walking down the streets when a weird white Cat-Bunny walked up to me.
"Hello, I am Kyubey. I have a question for you." it says. "Aah! What... What are you?!" I ask it.

"I am an incubator." he replies. Before I could ask any more, a girl who looked like Hotaru threw him.
"Don't listen to that creature. The only thing he will ever give you is despair." she says. "Homura... Don't scare her..." I hear another girl say.

When she came into my field of sight, I saw that she looked so much like Chibiusa... Except, prettier.
The girl named Homura looks like she's been through so much, and was suffering silently. She walked away, leaving just me and the other girl.

"Sorry about her... My name is Madoka. What's your name?" she asks. "I-I'm Usagi. What was with that other girl...?"

-Madoka's POV-

This new girl is really pretty...

"Oh, her? I'm not exactly sure, but I know why she hates Kyubey..." I trail off. We sit down on a bench and Usagi says, "Why? Is he a bad guy?"

"No, not really... He just... Doesn't understand why life is valuable..." I explain. "What do you mean...?" she asks.
I show her my ring. I summon my soul gem from it and show her. "See this? It's called a soul gem." I tell her.

"Oo, it's pretty!" she says with fascination. "Yes, it was to me as well, before I learned that this is me. If this gem breaks, I die... And Kyubey is the one who does this... That's why she hates him." I tell her.

Her face looses the excitement immediately. "Why? What's the point of doing that?" she asks. "It can transform me into a magical girl. I'm supposed to fight witches, which are actually just magical girls who've been corrupted..." I explain.

"Oh... I have something sort of like that. Look." she says. She opens her brooch and pulls out the silver gem inside.
"This is the Legendary Silver Crystal. One time, it shattered and apparently I died until it somehow got fixed." she says.

"No way! You've met Kyubey before?!" I say incredulously. "No; I've never seen him. This came from one of my tears and transformed me into Princess Serenity." she tells me.

-Usagi's POV-

"Woah... So, what kind of magical girl are you, then? I thought magical girls had to make a contract with Kyubey..." Madoka says.
"I'm a sailor guardian. More specifically, I'm Sailor Moon, the protector of love and justice." I reply.

"I've never heard of a sailor guardian before... Did you have to make a wish?" she asks.
"What? What do you mean by that?" I ask her. "Well, in exchange for my soul, I was granted a wish. Did you get one?" she clarifies.

"Oh... No, I became a magical girl when this talking cat named Luna came up to me and gave me this brooch." I explain.

"I just wish I didn't have to give up my soul to fight..." she says, bangs covering her face. I really wanted to change her fate.
Just then, time stopped; I was the only one moving.

"Madoka...?" I say, waving my hand in front of her. That girl named Homura walks to me from around the corner.

"She can't hear you, or me. I stopped time." she says. Before I could ask any questions, she continued. "Please... Don't let her fight any witches..." she says.

"What? Why? Isn't that what you guys are supposed to do?" I ask. She starts crying, and I immediately felt bad.
"Please! I don't want to have to watch her die again!" she yells.

Again?

This girl has seen Madoka die before? I guess she does have time magic...

She walks away without another word and unpauses time. Madoka looks up at me, seeing my expression.

-Madoka's POV-

I didn't need to see her to know that Homura stopped time to talk to Usagi; it was written all over her face.
"What did she say to you?" I ask her. She looks back at me and says, "I... I don't know if I should..."

On one hand, I didn't want to push Usagi to say something, but on the other, I wanted to know...
I decided not to pry in the end.

"Hey, Madoka...?" she asks hesitantly. "Yeah?" I say, turning my head towards her. "Well, I was just wondering... Do you maybe wanna... Um... I mean..." talking really isn't her forte, is it?

"Will you go out with me?!" she asks so fast, I almost didn't catch it. I mean, I know we had just met, but...

"Yeah, sure!" I say. I hug her and she hugs me back. "By the way, we should probably know each other's last names, right? Mine's Tsukino." Usagi says.
"Mine's Kaname." I tell her.

We got up and went to go find a place we could get ice-cream. I ended up getting one with strawberry in it while Usagi got one with vanilla.

I never imagined I would run into another kind of magical girl... It makes me wish I could have had a better fate...

Having her with me seems so nice, it almost makes me want to quit fighting.
