Unit reviews; the holy quintet
The holy quintet are all currently in the EN server however instead of homura we have moemura but everyone gets a moemura so it's not that bad.
Mami tomoe
(5 star awakening art work)
Pros:
•has one of the highest attack stats in the game (ranked 10th out of the 78 five stars in the up server)
•has a magia which hits like a truck
•has a bind on her magia
•has a great connect for PvE because of bind/burn
•her forest element makes her a great mirrors pick against the water blast girl but only on offense
Cons:
•crumbles like a piece of paper to any attack not coming off a fire type enemy
•has a AABCC deck which isn't great for her play style
•bad on mirrors defense
•bind sucks in mirrors because it can lead to enemy puella chains
Conclusion: overall mami is a really good unit, she has some flaws in the form of low health and defense as well as having a accel-charge deck instead of the accel-blast deck she really wants but she overcomes this by demolishing any enemy that isn't fire type. Mami is a glass cannon so when it comes to team building your gonna wanna pair her with tanks and healers like Sayaka (moemura can also work) And maxima (or iroha if you don't have Madoka) Mami's neutral damage can be on par with other girls advantage damage so she can fit into teams pretty well just don't use her in mirrors and you should be fine.
Sayaka miki
(5 star awakening art work)
Pros:
•high hp and defense stats make her a good water tank (ranked 4th in both stats out of the 78 five stars in jp)
•decent tank deck in AABCC
•synergistic with Kirika, darc, and momoko, the other three premier tanks
Cons:
•her single target magia isn't very useful even against PvE bosses
•she has one of the lowest attacks out of the 5 stars (ranked 68 out of 78 5 stars in jp)
•her connect has regen on it which isn't that good
•has no ability to direct attacks away from other units
•endure is just not a good status to get especially off of a magia that she doesn't have the deck to get very often
Conclusion: overall Sayaka isn't all that great, on paper her stats seem great for a tank on paper but that doesn't mean much when, in mirrors, she's probably not going to be attacked all that often unless the enemy team is all forest girls and if that is the case then she's going to go down pretty quickly. Sayaka is okay in PvE but her lack of blast cards and power as well as lack of any kind of taunt makes her a poor choice there too. When making a team with Sayaka in it there are 2 routes you can go the first is the tank team which includes tanks (momoko, Kirka, Darc, etc.) and strong healers (kako, madoka and iroha), the second option is to use her as a tank in an balanced team and equip her with some taunt memoria, this team would include a tank like Sayaka, a healer (only madoka and kako are really strong enough to work with this type of team) and 3 high offense or utility units (Mami, Kanoko, Kyoko, or nanaka) both of these teams are a little slow and can easily land on hot water of they get bad draws. Sayaka has some use in mirrors for tanking the hits of forest girls on dedicated water blast teams but her inconvenient deck can be bad for these teams as well. Tanks just aren't useful unless they have some offensive presence in magia record but Sayaka doesn't and because of that she falls short.
Kyoko sakura
(5 star awakening art work)
Pros:
•triple blast decks are great for both PvE and mirrors
•strong magia that buffs teams blast cards and damage for 3 turns
•amazing connect that increases blast damage and reduces damage taken
•works well on dedicated blast teams in mirrors as she can cover the forest girls that most often used to counter nanaka and yachiyo
•high attack stat (ranked 12 out of 78)
Cons:
•her ABBBC deck means she won't be using her magia unless she's paired with girls like madoka and rims
•the fire element is the most vulnerable element in mirrors due to the popularity of water blast girls (the same ones that Kyoko can protect)
•her connects damage reduction prevents her from being a hyper offense unit, it would be better if it was atk up
Conclusion: kyoko is a strong pick for all fields of play and, unlike Sayaka and mami, she fits pretty well into most teams and can be both the primary offense and a connect passer. In PvE she will exceed in fire blast teams (tsuruno and aimi can both be good supports for her) with a healer (iroha or madoka) and a someone to cover the other elements that may be present. In mirrors she can work well on dedicated blast teams consisting of all blast units or on more balanced blast teams that consist of 3 blast girls and 2 support or coverage girls. Similar to mami tomoe she has good neutral damage and when she has advantage she hits like a truck. Her good magia is just icing on the cake even if she isn't likely to get it off.
Moemura (homura Akemi (glasses))
(5 star awakening art work)
Pros:
•very high hp (ranked 9th among 78 5 stars in jp)
•her evade connect can come in clutch depending on the situation
•once she is awakened into a 5 star unit she gains magia damage up on her connect and extra magia damage up when she connects to mami, Kyoko, Sayaka, or madoka.
•her magia has skill surge which can allow you to use strong memoria skills more times during a battle
•she can actually make a pretty decent tank in mirrors
•her ABBCC deck can be good for creating Puella blast combos
Cons:
•her attack is even less than Sayaka's (70 out of 78 5 stars in jp)
•her defense is fairly middling (45 out of 78 5 stars in jp)
•her evade connect even after awakening can be completely useless and clunky to use
•her ABBCC deck can be bad for her since she won't get her magia our very often
•shes more or less dead weight outside of her connect
Conclusion: moemura's usefulness varies, when paired with mami or madoka she can make a good support for the one turn that they use their magia and she can save lives with her evade but to even get a connect you actually have to use her discs which you don't want to do because of her terrible attack, she'll never be at a disadvantage but she's also never going to do any damage even with her magia which, again, you have to use her discs to build up unless you want to build a team around Accell cards and if that is that case then your probably shouldn't be using moemura. She doesn't fit well on any team because she's pretty much dead weight but if you don't have any better dark type options then you can throw her in with another member of the holy quintet or another tank to make a usable team. She's actually really useful on mirrors defense at high levels due to her high health however, she's hard to kill especially for the blast girls that populate mirrors.
Madoka kaname
(4 star art work)
Pros:
•literally the best support in the entire game
•Great heal connect that also increase the magia gauge for whoever she connects to
•additional support when connecting to moemura in the form of increased magia gauge fill which can patch up moemura's problems
•her magia gives magia gauge refill and damage reduction (for 3 turns) to her entire team
•her AABBC deck makes it very easy for her to both increase her magia gauge and also do a lot of damage when she's not charging her magia up
•she was really high defense (9 out of 78 5 stars in jp
Cons:
•her attack is even lower than moemura's (75 out of 78 5 stars in jp)
•Her hp is middling (40 out of 78 5 stars in jp)
Conclusion: madoka has one of the worst attacks in the game but that doesn't really matter because she's not meant to be an attacker, her deck works well when trying to bridge the gaps in the discs of other magical girls and her personal memoria gives her an accell draw that allows her to speed out her first magia which will still have decent power even with her low attack. She fits into any team that needs a support and when paired with moemura she can patch up her lackluster defenses and avoid moemura having to use her own discs. Madoka last ability for work on any team is in the same vein as iroha but unlike iroha, madoka doesn't suck or go down in three hits.
