You have been in there for so many times already, but the demeaning aura of the dark continent never fails to give you the chills. A bitter cold gust of wind brushed past your cheeks, and a second more you were already on your way to get out of that place. But you stopped upon remembering your objective. 'That's right. He is waiting for me down there. And I promised him. A promise is a promise.'

You sighed and walk back to the opening of the dark continent. It still hasn't changed, even for a bit of your ephemeral hesitation. Dark and seemingly to go on forever. Fear overwhelmed you.

A soft breeze blew from the south, this time calm and strangely warm. You closed your eyes. When you opened them next the only thing you can see is the picture of the azure sky trapped in a tiny circular frame.

You flipped over and faced your destination. It was dark and you couldn't make of anything possible to be down there, except some scary illusions your mind is tricking you to.

A few more minutes and you were already close to the ground. With a graceful moonsault, you landed perfectly, dust clearing off from where you stand. You looked around. It's too dark to see anything, and the tiny light from the mouth of the canyon was now gone. There was no other means of figuring out your location and his but one.

You heaved your chest upwards, pulling lots of air inside your lungs as possible; then released it with full force. This is one of the most amazing things being a Fanalis: echolocation. It cannot show accurate directions though, but it can tell a bit where you should go.

'A massive wall behind and a great space before me.'

You started running in an immense speed incomparable than to any other human. If there were any other spectator in the canyon they will only see a blur of red hair, moving fast as if it was wind. But even though with your enhanced strength and pain tolerance, it was not enough to reach that man's destination without being injured. And it's funny to think that you have only run.

'No matter what he is always worth it.'

You ran and ran, taking a momentary break for a minute every now and then then run again. It was getting tiresome every step on the cold stony ground. You even think of collapsing right there. But that won't do any good.

After an hour of that exhausting activity, a faint light of hope shined at the end of your trail. You knew exactly what it was. A big smile stretched your lips. You have reached your destination.

But before you can take another step, your knees gave way. Burned out lungs gasping for air, and a scary amount of blood trickled out your eyes. Your hand full of cuts reached for the tiny light, as if trying to grasp it, only to be held by a soft one. The other hand's warmth was comforting, and oddly familiar. With a faint smile, you let darkness embrace you.

You woke up to the sweet aroma of brewed tea leaves wafting under your nose. Slowly, you lifted the lids of your eyes, and the blurry outline of a wooden ceiling was the first you saw.

"Good morning." Said a voice. Your head moved a little to the right to see a man at the far end of the room, who seemingly is preparing tea. A small smile cracked in your lips, wincing a bit after because of jaw lock.

"Hi Yunan. Glad to see you again." You said as you tried to raise yourself from the bed. After successfully doing so, Yunan brought the tea he was brewing earlier in a tray and placed it in the bedside table.

"Don't get up yet. You still need to rest." He said, smiling ever so gently. You nodded and replied, " I really won't. My body won't be able to take it."

Yunan offered you tea. You took the cup, and sipped from it slowly, being cautious by the scorching temperature of the beverage. After many refills and a good conversation with the magi, his face suddenly dropped. The air was permeated by the coalescence of deafening silence with the scent of Darjeeling tea. You did not interrupt, though admittedly it was getting uneasy for you every dropping minute. Yunan put his cup down his lap, and finally sounded what was bothering him.

"I think you should stop visiting me here, (y/n)-chan." He said lowly, a hint of hesitation in his voice. You looked at him aghast, speechless for a moment then finally, "why?"

"It's not like I don't want seeing you. I really do. Trust me. If I can only be with you every day. But as you know I cannot leave the great rift for a long time, and the journey here for you is very exhausting, since you are leaving at the other end o the world. Also--"

"You're lying. Tell me the truth, honestly." You said. There is an unusual light burning at the back of your crimson eyes, demanding Yunan of a truthful answer. You noticed the grip of his right hand. Finally he spoke in a shaky voice, head lowered down.

"By the time you reached my doorstep, you were heavily injured. I just feel like that... I'm not worth that much pain."

After that the shack went silent. More silent from before the prospect of this conversation was introduced. You swore that you could hear his heartbeat. It was pumping so fast that it might rip out of his chest. Slowly, you extended your arms to reach to him, placed it above his hand and gripped it tightly.

"How can you say such a sad thing? Yunan, you're my friend. Of course you're worth it." Your words were dripping with every ounce of earnestness. Yunan looked at you with a soft gaze, and that kind smile made up its way again to his face. "Thank you (y/n)."

"I'll never stop visiting. I love you, after all." It came out from your mouth with so much confidence, but there was a visible blush spread across your face that gave the last sentence an ambiguous meaning.

Deep down you were already screaming. 'What on earth are you trying to do?!'

"I'm glad to know that. I love you too, (y/n)." Yunan leaned closer, and give you a quick peck on the cheek. But hey, plot twist. He instead accidentally kissed you on the lips.

"What the---?!" Your eyes widened in shock. Yunan quickly pulled away.

"You shouldn't have moved. It was supposed to be a friendly kiss on the cheek." He calmly said while pointing his own cheek.

"I was surprised okay? Seriously, Yunan." You sighed. To be honest, that would be your first. You originally planned for it to be something special, but oh well, there's nothing you can do about it now. At least it was Yunan.

"Your lips are soft by the way. And sweet." He smiled. The blush in your cheeks darkened.

"Y-Yunan!!!"
