Titus

I'm still working on the request.

Just found this recently. I wrote it last summer and it was UNFINISHED.

I can't believe it. The last part ruined everything. Or the first part? Or all parts?

Still not givin' up!!!

Disclaimer: I don't own Magi. :)

Titus drummed his fingers against the wooden desk as he paced his sight back to the door and the chair beside him. It was five minutes before the class starts, and he finds it unusual to see that seat vacant during these times.

Under normal circumstances he'd see a perfectly annoying (h/c) head studying her notes and munching on a (f/f) while ignoring all his insults. Thanks to that certain girl's absence, his morning was rather boring.

"Titus-kun, even if you keep eyeing that door, (y/n) won't come in..." Marga, the girl sitting behind him said.

"I'm not eyeing that door! And what do you mean she's not coming in?" Titus said irritatingly.

The girl turned her head from the book she's reading to the young man in front of him. "Sick. And just not any normal fever at that. Even the doctors here can't make a miracle for her. It'll take about 3 days for her to be able to get up again, one week at the worst. Oh, here's her letter." Marga took out a white envelope, with a red seal on it. Titus snatched the letter from her, opened it and read the contents.

"If you knew something why only tell me now?!" Titus asked, obviously frustrated.

"If I did I wouldn't be able to study cause I'll be busy answering the question's you'll bombard. Well, it's too late for it now..." Said Marga. Titus followed her gaze. Professor Downsnout entered the room, arm loaded with papers, probably their unit test. The bell clock chimed, and all students arranged themselves on their seats.

Titus panicked. What's he gonna do? Supposedly, he should be happy. Without (y/n) around, his success is secured. But no, this was supposed to be a challenge, a fair fight that both of them will participate in. Why of all days did she decide to be sick now?

"Marga help me here. I can't do that test. My competitor is not here." Titus asked Marga with pleading eyes. The girl did not even took one glance at him and just focused on the book she's reading.

"Then I will be your competitor then." She said. Titus shaked his head.

"No. I only want (y/n)." He said. For once, he was able to make Marga remove her attention to her book. The red haired gave him a confused look, which later faded into a sneer expression.

"You like (y/n) don't you?" Marga smirked. Titus felt his face heat up.

"No! It's not like that!" Titus quickly denied the bookworm's statement. Marga just shrugged and went back to reading.

"Come on Marga, please help me out here..." Titus pleaded again. Marga placed down her book and sighed.

"Why don't you just skip the test. That way you two troublesome honor students will be fair, and you will save your manly pride." Said Marga as she slid back her glasses in place. Titus frowned at him.

"Fine. You see that small vial on the teacher's desk?" Titus wheeled around to see what Marga was talking about. Indeed there was a small vial in there. Based on the design of the bottle, it's contents must be medicine. Titus turned back to Marga and nodded.

"It's Professor Downsnout medicine for his allergy. He always drinks it before starting class..." Marga said. Titus couldn't help but to furrow his brows confusion. He had no memory of seeing their professor drink something like that before.

"You have a similarly looking vial in your possession too. Only instead of medicine, it's a potion that almost put poor (y/n) into humiliation." Continued Marga. Titus scratched the back of his head when he suddenly remembered what the redhead was talking about. It was ages ago and even though it did not work out, Titus couldn't help but feel guilty about it.

"That potion has an ingredient that can trigger his allergy. Go get it now and replace the vial on the table while I distract him." Marga winked at him before going to the teacher's table. Titus donned a wide smile. He didn't know why she's doing this, but he's glad for Marga's help. Immediately he searched his bag and took out the vial Marga's talking about and followed her to the table.

"This is included in the test right?" Titus heard Marga said in a high pitched voice, trying her best to look adorable in front of their professor's eyes. The young man wasted no time and swapped the vials' places while making sure no one's watching.

"Thank you." Marga smiled at their professor as she took her book and walked back to her seat with Titus. She looked at him with eyes that said 'did you get it?' Titus smiled mischievously at her in return. Marga guessed that their plan succeeded.

The two students went back to their seats and waited anxiously for the outcome of their scheme. As Marga said earlier, Professor Downsnout did drank the blue liquid in the bottle. He slowly laid it back down on the table and put back the cap. Then he sorted the papers.

Titus counted. One... Two... Three... Nothing happened. He looked back at Marga, who despite all looked so comfortable reading her book as if she's near the fireplace during the holidays.

"Hey! Are you sure about your plan? It doesn't seem to have worked!" Titus leaned in and whispered. He was obviously panicking again. The professor was already sorting out the papers and ready to pass them, and still no signs of being unwell on his face!

"Patience, Titus..." Marga said calmly. He faced front. His pulse quickened as he saw their teacher turned the corner and was ready to give them the papers.

"Marga..." Titus said nervously. Marga didn't paid him any attention. Almost inaudible, the redhead muttered "one." A smirk sprawled on her lips.

Their professor suddenly collapsed. He clutched his hand on his chest as he struggled for air. Red circle marks became visible on his arms and face.
The students panicked and rushed to his side and tried to give him first aid, others went outside to call for help. Titus and Marga remained on their seats.

"Hey, isn't this a little overboard? He won't die won't he." Said Titus, his voice shaking.

"Absolutely not. Just in case you're forgetting, we're in Magnoshutatt. Doctors here can just easily whip up some miracle for him. Trust me, I know this cases, my parents are doctors. He won't die, but he'd be in bed for a while." Said Marga. Titus sighed of relief but can't help to feel guilty. But more importantly, their plan succeeded.

A few moments later, doctors came in and took the sick professor. The class surprisedly behaved and no one dared to touch the papers on the table until a minion of Professor Downsnout took all the stuff he left behind. News later reached them that the professor's condition was already stable, which gave everyone a relief and a loud cheering when they were told that he might not be up for days. It was also mentioned that the cause for his attack was because of the wrong medicine he drank. Titus was thankful they weren't caught. The rest of the day passed by without incident.

"Hey, thanks for earlier." Said Titus. He wasn't the type to show gratitude to others, but what Marga did was something to be thankful for.

"It's nothing. I was also not prepared for the test." Marga said as she giggled. "I'm gonna check on (y/n), wanna tag along?"

"No thanks." Titus said. He lied. He actually want to see you, but he can't. You were supposed not to care for each other. You were competitors.

"Oh come on, I know you want to." Marga took Titus wrist and dragged him through the crowded hallway. After bumping into a few people and turning corners, Marga and Titus arrived at your front door. As the redhead took out her keys and unlock the door, Titus pondered if he should come in or not. It was too late for him to decide when the door to your room opened.

Both of them gasped at the sight they arrived to. Everything was in disorder, as if a monster broke in and ransacked the room. Books and notes were sprawled on the floor, and so are the debris of a broken vase. The bed was a mess too, and on the bed was a sleeping (y/n).

"Is your room usually like this?" Asked Titus. Marga heaved a deep sigh.

"No, not really. Only when that monster sleeping on the bed is angry." She said quietly as she walked inside the room and picked up the fragments of the broken porcelain one by one.

"Let me..." Titus offered. Marga left him to clean the rest and went to (y/n).

"Hey, wake up and explain what happened here." Marga gently tapped her roommate's shoulder awake. (Y/n) groaned and opened her eyes.

"I'm sorry Titus, but can you stay here and watch over (y/n)? There's an emergency at home, and I really need to go now. Thank you!"

Before even Titus could protest, Marga was already out the door with heavy bags on her back. He sighed. He don't want to stay the night over a girl's room, especially those of a girl he don't like. But enemy or not, he cannot leave a sick girl on her own.

Titus took the thermometer and gently slid it inside her mouth. After a minute it beeped. He took it and frowned. 40 degrees. Even though she just drank her medicine a few hours ago, her temperature still won't go down. Titus can't help but get worried, and his faith on the nurse's words earlier was fading.

He soaked a dry cloth on a cold water filled basin and put it over her forehead. He watched over her as she heaved deep breaths. Titus couldn't believe that the (y/n) he knew is the one in front of him now. He had always viewed her as a a strong and confident lady that does not know any weakness. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever imagined that she'd look as frail and helpless. Looking at her situation now made him want to care for her.

Titus shake his head. No, he shouldn't be thinking any of these thoughts, he couldn't allow himself to care for her. If he did, he'll lose.

Closing his eyes and breathing deeply, Titus calmed himself. 'I'm just here because I had no other choice. That's all. We're still rivals.'

Titus immediately shut the book close at the realization of what it was. He panicked. It was her journal!

He swiftly put it back in place. If ever (y/n) caught him going through his personal stuff, even with all the magic he had, he'll surely be dead. He once had witnessed the girl's fury, and it was not good. If she hadn't been stopped by the Headmaster himself, she'd probably destroyed the whole school.

He went back to his stool and slumped his head on the bedside, then lifted it again and glanced at the bookshelves. Unable to quell his curiosity, he stood up and get the journal back.

'Just a little peek...' He said at the back of his head as he nervously flipped out the front cover. He made his way to the window cushions as he continued.

Titus laughed. The way she describes her day on paper was very amusing. Titus then wondered if it really belonged to (y/n). Her personality tells either on her notes.

He flipped the page. There's a picture of him playing with a cat. It was his first time to go to the 5th level authorization district. He looked at the caption below.

-Titus is so cute! Never imagined that he loves cats.-

The blonde male flipped to another page. It has another picture of him, and a whole paragraph which mostly says, 'Titus is really adorable! It's such a waste to wake him up.'

At that moment, Titus felt somehow guilty. This girl whom he hated so much, adores him secretly on this journal. (Y/n) wanted to be friends with him, to be a part of his life as an equal and not a mere blind follower. Finally there is someone who wanted to be with him not only for his title or talents, but she has to be mean so that she can get a little closer.

-Just a little bit. Even if I have to be enemies with him so that he can notice me, then I don't mind.-

-It really hurts to be his enemy. I don't want him to be my rival.-

-I'm so sorry, Titus...-

"Your feelings are accepted, (y/n)." Titus warmly smiled at the sleeping (h/c) head, tears brimming at the corner of his eyes as he leaned down to give her a kiss on the forehead.
