"I'm... Pregnant?"
Fear pulsed in my heart upon hearing the doctor's announcement. I can feel my chest contracting. How can this happen?
"Yes, Mrs. [name]. For already 2 weeks. Congratulations."
Don't... Don't smile like that! I'm not happy with this. He will not be happy with this. Why do I have to conceive this child now, of all times?
I sprawled a hand over my belly. 2 weeks. I have been pregnant for already 2 weeks. Another week will pass, then a month. It won't be long until a visible bump appears. By then what would happen to me if he learned about this? Would he...
No. Please anything but that.
"Mrs. [name], is there a problem?" The doctor asked. I immediately lifted my head, plastering the most convincing smile I can give.
"Of course. Thank you very much." After bidding the doctor goodbye, I speed out of the clinic. My mind was in complete disarray for the whole day, I couldn't think straight no matter how hard I tried. And what I'm fearing the most is that he'll notice.
I can't let him see through that.

"Good evening Ja'far. How is work?" You asked, helping him out of his uniform. He flashed a withered smile in turn, and kissed your forehead softly saying, "Just fine. The same as always."
"Is that so? Well, um... Ja'far?" You called out with uncertainty. The white haired man immediately noted this kind of change in your tone and turned his attention to you. "What is it (y/n)?" He asked.
"Well... Erm... How do you feel about having a child?"
Ja'far gave you a long stare before settling down in a nearby stool. "We've already had this kind of discussion didn't we (y/n)?"
"Well yeah, but..." You played with your fingers nervously.
"And my answer is the same." Ja'far intoned. You tried to hide the expression of disappointment and sadness as you smiled convincingly.
"Of course. Come on, let's go to bed. I know you're really tired. And no getting up late to finish work, okay?" You said. Ja'far looked like he want to pursue with the topic further, but just as you said he was too tired. Maybe he can ask you tomorrow, because he knew that his adorable wife is definitely hiding something.

"Ne, Ja'far-san." Yamraiha called out.
Ja'far stopped whatever he was busying himself with and turned his head to his fellow general. "What is it, Yamraiha?"
"Don't you think (y/n)-san is acting a bit strange?" She pondered.
Ja'far nodded in reply. Indeed he can sense something was off by how his wife was acting, and he thought it was just a normal occurrence given the fact that she is female. But he never thought that anyone else would notice. If that's so then it must be really something to talk about.
"Yeah. (Y/n) has been off the weather lately." Ja'far said as he scribbled down on a scroll sprawled before him.
"Did you even bother to know why?" Yamraiha asked again, and this question made the white haired man think carefully.
He didn't, sad as that may be. It has been a few weeks now since her unexpected change. He wondered if (y/n) is a bit mad because he's not trying to know what's happening.
"I... No."
"You're a terrible husband, honestly." Yamraiha remarked. Ja'far can only sigh.
"I'll admit that I haven't been the best."
Before they can continue their conversation, they were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. Yamraiha was the one who answered.
"Come in." She said. A female servant walked in.
"Forgive me for the interruption, but the Grand Vizier has been summoned to the medical quarters." She informed, head lowered as a sign of respect.
"What for?" Ja'far raised a brow in confusion.
"It seems that lady (y/n), your wife has been admitted there just now." The servant added.
"(Y/n) is?" Ja'far immediately stood up from his chair and headed outside. "I'll be going, Yamraiha."

"My wife is... Pregnant?!" Ja'far shrieked. His expression cannot be quite determined at the moment, there's just a lot of commingled emotions for it to be easily deciphered. The doctor hushed him silent.
"Don't be too loud. She'll know you're here."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Your wife asked me not to inform you about her pregnancy. But I can't just leave it be. She's been three weeks pregnant by the way, and it seems that this is the first time you've heard of this." The doctor explained. Ja'far's eye wandered to the ground. He suddenly remembered that night when you asked him his thoughts on having a child.
'Could it be...'
"She's on the second room from the right."

"J-Ja'far! W-what are y-you doing h-here!" You stuttered when a familiar white haired man appeared by the doorway of your room. You thought it was the doctor on her routine so you went ahead and opened the door, but it turns out to be the person you least wanted to see here, of all places.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked. At that moment you already knew what he is referring to. However you choose to stay oblivious, hoping to save the situation from the worst possible scenario.
"Eh? What are you talking about? I was just a little tired you know, it's no big dea-"
"You're pregnant for three weeks now, and you didn't tell me. Why?" His voice was firm. The intense glint on your husband's eyes scared you. Burying down your face on your knees hugged closer to your chest, somehow you managed to explain.
"I meant to tell you sooner but I was scared. You did told me that you didn't feel having a child yet so I... I just don't want to burden you." Tears streamed down your flushed cheeks. An overwhelming emotion of pain and sadness wrapped your entire heart. 'I wonder what'll happen from now on."
"If I haven't known, what would you do because of that fear? Would you plan to leave me? Would you plan to kill that child?"
"N-no! How outrageous, I would never!" You defended. Why would Ja'far think so negatively, you never even thought of it yourself.
"(Y/n)... I went too far. I'm sorry." He lowered himself so he can give you a hug. Tears fell abundantly from your eyes as you returned it.
"Ja'far... Please don't be mad at me..." You sobbed. Ja'far pulled away from you and placed his hands on your cheeks, effectively wiping out your tears with his thumb.
"Who said I was. We're about to have our first child, we should be celebrating." He smiled. As you searched his eyes, you saw it, something that calmed all the storms you have been striving to pass through- his genuine feelings.
"But, what you said..." You started
"I know. I was such a jerk." Ja'far sighed. He held your hands in his and grasped it gently.
"Yeah. You really were." You grinned at him, tears still falling from your eyes. Ja'far leaned closer until his lips touched yours.
"I love you (y/n). You and our future children. Please don't forget that."
