Author Note: Happy new year guys! Hope you guys had a good end to 2018, and a great start to 2019. I feel like this year has been tough on a lot of people, (including myself), so I do wish the best for everyone that they have a much better year next year. :)
Sans is a MONSTER and not a HUMAN, so he doesn't follow HUMAN biology like a HUMAN skeleton. Same with Gaster and Papyrus.

"Do you have any new years resolutions, Frisk?" Kai decided to ask, as the two of them were cleaning a couple of tables together in the coffee shop, after the last of their customers before closing time decided to finally leave. With a thoughtful hum, Frisk thought about whether that turned out to be the case. New years resolutions... Frisk never tended to make them, only because like any other human on the planet, she never would follow them. It was those silly kind of resolutions where it's like... I'll eat less chocolate, (which was once one of Chara's resolutions), or I'll go exercise more, but they never end up happening.
"Well, I do hope to get married next year. Does that count as a resolution?" Frisk joked with a smile, as she could hardly wait for her and Sans' wedding. She was so excited to be able to walk down the aisle, likely with Toriel and Asgore walking with her, as she stood in her beautiful white dress, while smiling towards her future skeletal husband with glee. She could almost imagine the look he'd have on his face... That smile... It made her heart swoon just thinking about how handsome he'd look in his suit. To think, it wouldn't even be that long away before they would get to call themselves husband and wife. She could hardly wait.
"I don't know about that, but it's nice that you're excited." Kai beamed, with a small laugh as she stacked a couple of plates on top of each other. The green haired girl was extremely joyful for her older friend, who she had felt a great deal of sympathy for when things didn't seem like they were going too well for her or the skeleton. What a huge shame it would have been, had they decided to stay apart and not have the wedding. They were meant to be together, literally anyone could easily see that. "Have you got your dress yet?"
"Not yet. But I'm hoping to get it in the first month of next year." Frisk said. "Hey! You should come with me." Frisk suggested, considering she actually had thought of asking her good friend Kai if she wanted to come along to go dress shopping, because it might be fun. She already was going to bring Chara, Toriel and Blair if they all wanted to come, so of course she didn't mind bringing an extra face to enjoy the day with her if she wanted to.
"I'd love to!" Kai squealed excitedly, as her eyes almost gleamed like bright stars at Frisk's invitation for her to go dress shopping with her. Kai had never actually helped with such a big thing before, that was to do with a wedding, so if she could jump at the opportunity to help her best friend with picking out a dress, then of course she would accept. Frisk giggled.
"I'm glad. Two of my friends will be there too, and my mom." Frisk explained; as far as she knew, Kai had only really had a one on one conversation with Sans, if she was remembering correctly. Kai had yet to even realise that Frisk had a goat parent as her mom. In all the time that her and Kai had known each other, Frisk just never had a reason to introduce her to Toriel, or anyone like that, especially when they lived a whole car journey away. So, even after being friends for so long, it might actually be the first time Kai was to meet some of her other friends and family.
"That's great, it sounds like fun! I'll be there." She promised.
Frisk looked forward to it.
Work was let off earlier than normal today, considering it was new years eve and all... People usually had big spontaneous plans when it came to new years-- or at least, some people did. Most years, Frisk and Sans would sit out in the back garden, with Leo, Luna and sometimes even Papyrus and Mettaton, as they let off a couple of fireworks, and allowed them to sparkle within the night sky. It was cute, the faces that the children would pull, as they watched with pure amazement, while the bright, glittering colours danced off in separate ways, continuing to decorate the darkness above them.
This year, Papyrus even came around to do a BBQ, as he was standing in their back garden, readying the equipment as he was wearing a light red apron, with said the words "GREATEST COOK" upon it. It was difficult not to smile, seeing Mettaton standing beside him, even deciding to flirt with the other skeleton while he was busy trying to prepare food. How cute.
"is the tin can givin' ya a bad time over there, bro?" Sans questioned, as he was sitting on a garden chair, next to Frisk, who was also doing her best to keep a close eye on the kids, to make sure they didn't run into the BBQ, and to make sure they didn't run to the furthest end of the garden where Sans had gone to set up a couple of fireworks for a couple of hours time. No, they weren't lit, they were just sitting there, ready to be ignited and burst off into the sky, so it could explode into a million sparkles. Here's to hoping it wouldn't rain; Sans would be slightly pissed off if the fireworks didn't end up working as a result of that, only because he put in the effort to set them in the ground for later.
"DO NOT WORRY, SANS! EVERYTHING IS PERFECTLY FINE OVER HERE!" Papyrus told him, as he had began slapping some food onto the grill, like burgers, sausages... Usual things you would have on a BBQ. This was nice, that they got to do things like this every year. That they got to spend time together like this. Even if it was fairly simplistic, it was just a good time for everyone involved. They got to chatter among each other, as they were enjoying the fact that it thankfully wasn't too much of a cold day today, despite it being winter time. Of course, the main person that would likely feel the cold was Frisk, and their children, so that's why they had a couple of blankets outside with them too, just in case it got cold for them outside as they were watching the fireworks.
"What are your plans for next year, guys?" Frisk wondered towards Papyrus and Mettaton, who immediately looked thoughtful at such a question. It wasn't always easy, to think about what things you wanted to achieve in the next year, because even if you could make plans, life didn't always go according to plan. Sometimes things got in the way, and decided to take you in a different direction to what you might have originally expected.
"Well, it probably would be fantastic to get the opportunity to go on holiday next year... I could do with a holiday." The robot exhaled dramatically, while the skeleton chuckled from his seat.
"ya and me both, buddy." Sans snorted, considering this year had just felt like it had been a huge rollercoaster of emotions. It definitely had many high notes at the beginning of the year, but as time went on there had been a lot of low notes too, where his emotions had dipped into a black hole, and he felt undeniably miserable - that was during his and Frisk's breakup. This year hadn't been all that amazing, but if there was something that could make Sans look forward to next year, it was his and Frisk's wedding. Just thinking about it was enough to cause him to glance towards the ring on his own finger, and he softly smiled. Frisk would actually be his wife in a couple of months time... Life definitely did not always go how you expected it; that wasn't always necessarily a bad thing.
This skeleton had absolutely no idea that meeting Frisk all those years ago would earn him the girl of his dreams, the girl he was going to marry and spend eternity with. But that single day, it had been the best damn thing to ever happen to him, and he would never, ever take it back, no matter what him and Frisk had to go through. He would always be glad that it happened, glad that they fell in love, glad that he was able to devote everything to her. He loved her, with all of his soul.
That being said, the evening began to move on, as the group descended into even further chatter, with the two children even going to join in here and there, as they sat down on the ground next to Sans' and Frisk's chairs. It was starting to get dark, and slightly cold, so Frisk wrapped a couple of blankets around the children, while also going to wrap a blanket around herself; Sans was going to light a couple of the fireworks, before quickly going to back off so he could stand back with everyone else and watch in awe, as the small little rockets shot up into the sky, one by one, causing those beautiful patterns to drizzle everywhere. Other fireworks could be heard, exploding throughout the night, as everyone was already seeming to celebrate new years.
Firework after firework kept getting sent up into the sky, while the two children - Leo and Luna - kept letting out small gasps of "wow"'s and "ah"'s, as they were being mind blown by the different range of colours that scattered all over the place. If you were imaginative enough, it was almost like the fireworks told a story, in some kind of elegant dance with one another. Papyrus and Mettaton stood with one another, each having an arm held around each other as they quietly watched the bright lights in the sky, clearly just wanting to enjoy the moment of them celebrating new years.
When Sans had set off the last of the fireworks, he found it difficult not to beam towards his future wife with a loving smile, before also glancing towards his children, who looked almost as if they were stuck in an adorable little trance with how intrigued they were by the exploding fireworks, and his brother with that robot really looked like a sweet couple, as they were standing silently, just admiring what was happening. Sans let out a soft chuckle, trailing his pupils back to the sky, to enjoy the rest of the light show, while thinking to himself:
Happy New Years everybody.
