Work At Her Side [116]
Sans is a MONSTER and not a HUMAN, so he doesn't follow HUMAN biology like a HUMAN skeleton. Same with Gaster and Papyrus.
-------------------------------------------------
For the next week, the oldest skeleton still had absolutely no luck in trying to find a job, even when he had managed to get himself one interview for just trying to work in a dumbass supermarket - they rejected him in the end, so going to that stupid interview had been for nothing. Oh well, he hadn't gone with such high hopes anyway, knowing he would have likely been shot down despite his efforts. He was trying, yet still wasn't getting anywhere, and it was making him already feel like he should give up on trying to get a normal job, when he was still thinking of his old one.
His girlfriend - Frisk - had said that he should come to work with her that Friday, to see what it was like to be there and maybe he wouldn't mind so much if he tried to get an interview to be a waiter or something. She just told him to make sure to be nice as he could be if he wanted to make a good impression, and if anyone whistled at her or tried to flirt, that he should remain as calm as he possibly could. Such things felt like a challenge to him, as the thought of anyone wanting to try and get with his girlfriend just made him boil on the inside. However, he agreed to try his best to hold back his tongue and temper if anyone whistled at her.
Try was an important word in that sentence.
When getting through the cafe door, following after Frisk in the cute little waitress uniform, while his youngest brother was actually leading the trio, Sans was greeted by an unfamiliar face - a girl with glasses, freckles, dark green hair... When Frisk and this strange girl greeted each other, Sans had guessed that this was a new friend that she had made when she had started working here. Actually, as the skeleton recalled, he remembered on her first day Frisk had stayed out to spend time with a friend, as Papyrus had told him. This must have been her friend.
"Hey Frisk! Hey Papyrus! And... Oooh? You brought a friend!" Kai beamed, not yet knowing that this was actually the same skeleton Frisk had already blabbed on about to her, and that he was her boyfriend, not just her friend. With a tiny smile, Frisk was ready to correct her, especially when she could already see Sans' eyebrow raise about being called a "friend", and he looked like he was about to say something, but she beat him to it.
"Oh, no, this is Sans - my boyfriend, not just a friend. I told you about him." Frisk explained, seeing Sans' shocked face, while a look of realisation spread across Kai's face as she went "Oooh!" once more. The skeleton's surprised face was one of the cutest things Frisk always loved about Sans, because for just a moment he looked so curious and full of wonderment. He might have been touched or confused that he was mentioned, that's likely what he was thinking about.
"ya did?" Sans questioned, while Frisk nodded in confirmation.
"She did! She went on and on about you when we hung out on her first day. I think she really loooves you~!" Kai sang, which caused Frisk to blush and nervously giggle, while Sans found himself lightly blushing cyan at such a teasing remark about him and Frisk. He was never very good at handling when people commented about their relationship. He never knew what to say, only that he would become flustered and blush up a storm about it. He liked to think that maybe he was a decent flirt when him and Frisk were alone, but when it came to the public eye, he fucking sucked at it.
"A-Anyway! I brought Sans today because he really needs a job, and I was thinking maybe if it's possible, if he liked it here, he might be able to work here... As a waiter." Frisk told Kai, who looked thoughtful about that, wondering if their bosses would be happy to pick up a third person to do the job. Though some days it could get pretty busy in here, so maybe they would like some extra people to help do the job.
"You'll have to take it up with Mina and Kaz, but I'm sure neither her nor him will really mind. They're people persons, so I'm sure they would like the idea of having an extra set of hands to help around here." Kai explained. To tell the truth, the skeleton was anxious about talking to these two other people, whoever the heck they were. Hell, just being in the presence of this new, unknown girl made him feel a bit on edge, (knowing he had to act as nice as possible, and he couldn't just punch anyone or tell them to fuck off).
"Okay! Thank you, Kai." Frisk answered, before motioning for Sans to follow her. It was funny, this time around instead of him being the one to show her the ropes of what it was like to be a member of the Mafia, she was showing him what she did now for her job - working in a cafe. Strange how their roles had switched, and they had come so, so far since then. Their lives had changed so damn much since the first time they had laid eyes on each other, (in not so great terms), and here they were, still going strong despite everything.
Unfortunately, half way through work, Frisk's friend Kai had to go home, due to feeling a little under the weather, which was a shame because she had seemed pretty chirpy earlier that morning. When leaving, Kai had jokingly apologised if she ended up giving the bug to anyone in work, but just said that "sharing was caring" once she left to head off home. Already in the span of a week, Frisk loved that girl. She was so upbeat and bubbly, and Frisk loved that about some people.
Thankfully with Sans being here, Frisk didn't have to do everything herself, as her boyfriend actually volunteered to start helping her when Kai had left, helping with cleaning up the tables. This was normal, right? This was what normal people did, they lived normal lives, did normal jobs... It was still so strange to Sans, but he was trying to get used to it. He was trying to get used to the idea of simply walking back and forth from tables to the kitchen with plates and cutlery in hand, instead of his usual job which would have involved a gun and pulling the trigger.
"It was a shame Kai couldn't stay in all day. But thank you for helping me, Sans." Frisk was later thanking her skeletal boyfriend, as her, Sans and Papyrus were all going to leave later on that day. It had been a pretty great day in terms of customers, she had no one bothering her today, (which was lucky too because Sans might have lost his temper if they had), and it was quite busy too which was a good thing for the cafe.
"YEAH, BUT I AM SURE SHE WILL BE FINE!" Papyrus reassured Frisk, who may have been concerned about her new found friend.
"yeah, she'll likely be back into work in a matter of days, and if she has made ya sick, i'll have to look after ya." Sans joked, lightly squeezing Frisk's hand that was linked within his as they walked. Giggling at such a comment, Frisk couldn't help but mention for the millionth time how cute he was. He really made every day for her so perfect, she couldn't complain. She really did hope that he would consider working with her, because truth be told not seeing him as often as she used to be able to made her somewhat sad.
"Have you decided if you want to try and get an interview there yet or not?" Frisk wondered, and the skeleton could only shrug. He hadn't really made a decision yet, and it wasn't that he didn't enjoy it, because admittedly he kind of had, as it hadn't been as bad as he thought it would be. He hadn't had to snap at anyone and get overly angry, and he had enjoyed being in Frisk's presence as just her being around was enough to make him happy. He might need a little while to choose what he wanted though, before he came to any kind of decision where he decided he was going to work there.
"Okay, well, when you do make a choice, let me know." Frisk told him, as they continued on their walk back to their house. With a nod, he simply agreed. While he wasn't totally sure about what he wanted yet, he did kind of want to lean towards one thing.
And that was just getting to work at her side again.
