Thankful [6]
Still walking back from training, both Sans and Frisk were just in complete silence after that, not another word being exchanged between the two. Right now, Frisk was the kind of person who would have liked to create conversation, but she didn't want to irk Sans when he seemed like for once he didn't think so unbelievably low of her. About to open her mouth, Frisk almost went to say something, until a commotion in another room had stopped her and the two seemed to stop dead. Was that...? Screaming and crying?
"S-Sans!" Frisk called after the skeleton, who seemed to be the first to dash towards the sound. She was worried that it was something truly terrible, that he might end up getting himself into trouble. But once she caught up to him, she understood what all the fuss was about, and it almost made her want to cry. They were in a room where there were a lot of beds around, so this must have been a room where they took care of casualties.
Lying in one of those beds, was none other than Asriel Dreemurr. He didn't seem to have a fatal wound. However, he did have what looked like a bullet hole to the shoulder, which was majorly oozing blood. Chara was at his side, trying to calm him down to the best of her ability, but she too seemed to be crying. "what the hell happened?" Sans asked.
"What does it matter to you what happened, Sans? He's in pain, just go the fuck away!" Chara ended up snapping at him, which caused the skeleton to growl under his breath.
"i was just askin' a fuckin' question."
"Yeah, well, don't!" Chara said towards him in return, which caused the now angry skeleton to storm out. Frisk was standing, feeling uncomfortable. But feeling like she was unwelcome to stay, she dashed after Sans. He might not have wanted the company, but she didn't know what else to do with herself right now. And if he planned to go home, it's not like he could leave without her. She didn't know the way back to his place.
After a short while of trying to hunt him down, she found him sitting outside the building, seeming to be smoking a cigarette. Scrunching up her nose a little at the smell, she couldn't help but let out a small cough, which only caused the already frustrated skeleton to turn around and look at her. "what do you want? can you stop followin' me?" He growled.
"W-Well... I don't really know anyone else. And Chara and Asriel don't really seem to want me around right now so..." She felt uncomfortable when she got no answer. "He'll get the help he needs, right?"
"my dad used to be the one who used to help people when they got hurt. but now he's gone we always have to use people that aren't really as qualified. gettin' injured nowadays could probably be a death sentence if it's fatal enough. but he should be fine, i don't see what that bitch chara is gettin' so fussed about."
"You don't get along?"
"what do ya fuckin' think?"
"I was... Just asking a question, Sans..." Frisk murmured, which was exactly what Sans had said to Chara a couple of minutes ago. And she could tell it irked him, because he stood up and glared at her, going to throw the cigarette onto the floor before putting it out with his foot.
"just leave me alone, kid."
"But--"
"I SAID FUCK OFF!" Sans snapped at her. She fell silent, not really knowing how to respond, not that she was really given a chance to as he seemed to already be leaving her behind, going down the alley to head towards his car. She wanted to run after him again for some reason, but he would just want to try and get rid of her again, wouldn't he? Seemed like walking alone it was.
"This day couldn't possibly get much worse..." As if luck wasn't on her side, and she was in some stupid cliché movie on the television, the sound of thunder could be heard in the dark gloomy night sky, and little pellets of rain like tear drops began to hammer down from above. And she didn't even have a coat. "That's just great..."

Frisk could only hope that she was walking the right way towards Sans' apartment. But in all honesty, she hadn't a single clue. It's not like she had memorised the way there when being in the car with him, as she had been more concerned that he would turn into a scary snarling snapping dog who would bite her head off in one gulp had she said too much. She was stuck out here in the rain, all alone.
"Hey little missy, are you lost?" The voice of an unknown stranger had decided to ask, stepping out from the darkness before her. She frowned, as this man looked like he was around his mid thirties. This couldn't be good.
"N-No, I'm fine. Thanks." Frisk was going to go and turn around to go the opposite way, only to walk into another man who must have been with him. Before she knew it, she found herself surrounded by at least four of these guys, with no way out.
"Awh, where are you going, sweetheart? We only want to go and get to know you a little better." The same man who had spoken before smirked, getting too close to Frisk for her liking, pinning her against a wall like a trapped mouse.
"S-Stop! Please!" Frisk begged, her knees trembling in fear. She had to try and get away, but the moment she tried to make a run for it, she felt their hands grab for her, grabbing her clothes and even her hair to stop her from getting away. "No! Someone please help me!" She sobbed out.
For a minute, the guys seemed to laugh, until one of them let out a shocked sound of impact and fell to the floor. The three remaining men turned to look, their eyes wide with surprise. All Frisk could see with them crowded around her was a slight glowing blue light, but not much else.
"ya guys might wanna run if ya know what's good for ya." Their voice growled angrily. Wait, Frisk recognised that voice! It was...
She found herself dropped to the floor, as the group of terrifying men made a run for it. Looking up towards the figure in the rain, it was hard not to be shocked."S-Sans?"
"come on, get up kid." Sans answered, offering a hand out to her to pull her up. "are ya okay?"
"I-I'm fine... You... You saved me. You actually saved me..." Frisk stammered in confusion. She was sure this skeleton really hated her guts, so why had he decided to help her?
"i have to look after ya, remember?" Sans grumbled. He exhaled. "besides... i knew it was stupid to leave ya on your own like that. i realised ya wouldn't have been safe. neither would ya have known the way back." He shrugged.
"...Thank you." Frisk spoke, earning what looked like a mix of confusion and surprise to Sans. "For coming back to save me." She said. He paused, before rolling his eyes.
"it was nothin'. now, come on. you've got more trainin' to do in the next few days and the last thing ya need is to get sick." Sans said.
With that said, he led the both of them back towards his car, starting it up once they had both gotten inside. They didn't speak another word during the whole journey, but for some reason Frisk found it difficult to take the smile off her face.
She was thankful to Sans.
