Obstruction of Justice [95]
"how goes the collar, pet?" Sans smirked, staring at the frustrated fox with crossed arms as it was a day later, and he was back at work - thankfully not having Undyne in his face trying to be besties. He had managed to just avoid her today, going to leave with Frisk to get here. As per usual with his new plan, he parked the car at least a block away, in the hope that if Undyne did try to track it down, she wouldn't find where he was located.
"Shut up, bastard." Blair seethed in frustration, as she hated the weird, metal thing that she was wearing around her neck, which was like what Sans said it was - a collar. Gaster, upon request from Andrew, had decided to make one for her so that she would at least be able to be allowed out of her cell and she wouldn't be like such a trapped animal. Course, she was still kind of trapped - but there was nothing that Andrew could do about that when she could not be trusted.
"how does it actually work?" Sans decided to ask towards his father, who was standing with Frisk, Sans, Andrew and Blair. At the moment they were in the main room of the headquarters, with others going to and fro, doing their jobs as they should. Blair was glancing around with a frown, not paying attention to the conversation between the two skeletons. She was just remembering when she used to work here, before she left the group and betrayed everyone. It hadn't really changed much.
"Well, it has a sensor, so that if she tries to access any restricted areas, like the elevator for example, it will give her a bit of a shock. Not to mention it actually stops the elevator from working when she tries to go on it." Gaster mentioned with a proud smile, clearly seeming smug about his new invention. Sans knew the skeleton enjoyed inventing things after all, even if he had been pretty hesitant about it at first because he thought it was a stupid idea. However, the gadget looked like it worked better than he had thought.
"Not just that, but there's also this." Gaster reached into his pants pocket, only to pull out what looked like a small remote. It had a very noticeable button on it, along with what looked like a small knob that you could turn. Sans was actually curious as to what "this" was, so he listened intently, as did Frisk and Andrew, while Blair was still staring around elsewhere. "This does the same function - it gives her a shock to be more precise. Just that you can do it manually. Like if she tried to hurt anyone for example."
"nice. can i look at it?" Sans questioned, earning an eyebrow raise from his father. Gaster, not seeming sure, thought for a moment, until he handed it to his 21 year old son. For a moment his son looked like a child who had just gotten a bran new gadget for Christmas, as he was staring at the button with wonder. He noticed the turning knob had numbers, and a small little arrow on the knob that could point to the numbers. If this thing shocked then... He assumed that's how high the voltage could go. At the moment it was just on 0. So, deciding to crank it up to 2, Sans pressed the button and Blair let out a small shocked yelp, causing Sans to howl with laughter.
"Hey! I didn't even do anything!" Blair snapped angrily at the laughing skeleton. Even Frisk was trying to hide her giggles at Blair's reaction which had been somewhat priceless. Her reaction had only caused Sans to cackle more, while Andrew didn't look like he approved. Instead of telling Sans off though, the human male simply put his hand in Blair's and seemed to be saying some things to her to calm her down. By the looks of it, it seemed to do the trick. Frisk smiled at that, glad that Andrew had found someone else he could care about, even if it was Blair. The same monster that Frisk had shot in the shoulder that one time.
"thanks, dad." Sans chuckled, handing the remote back to Gaster who sighed and shook his head, mentioning how this thing was not a toy to be messed with. Blair may have been their prisoner, but for the time being there wasn't any plans to kill her. Probably because Blair had been Sans' prisoner but now...? Now she was kind of just... Here. Maybe Asgore was hesitant about killing her because Toriel wouldn't approve. Those two had been slowly getting on better terms, so he had heard.
"How goes trying to keep out of trouble, anyway?" Gaster questioned towards the monster and human couple, who shared a glance. Sans looked like that of annoyance, while Frisk held a sheepish smile across her face. By the looks of it, it hadn't been pleasant. Gaster wished he could do something to help, to stop Undyne from invading their privacy. However, he couldn't really step in, otherwise it might only cause more trouble than help.
"it's a pain in the ass. yesterday, undyne turned up at our apartment with papyrus, and decided to ruin the kitchen with her cookin'. then we went to the movies. i thought she would have wanted to go home by then, but oh no! she wanted to cook some more, and ramble on about friendship bracelets." Sans grumbled on in frustration, his eyebrow twitching slightly in anger as he babbled on about the annoying fish lady who was likely to become a pain in his backside.
"You two are managing though, right? Never forget that if you feel like things are going to take a terrible turn, you can try to come to us for help. Papyrus probably won't be able to do much, considering he would have to go against his boss to help you. He would be going against the law too." Gaster frowned. That wasn't something that Gaster greatly approved of. Even if he allowed Sans to be part of the Mafia, he wasn't a fan of allowing Papyrus into the group. He had never thought of asking him, even before he had been kidnapped. Papyrus was just too precious, just like his mother, who probably wouldn't be fond of the whole idea either.
"yeah... i know, i guess. i just don't want to get any one else into trouble." Sans exhaled with a frown. He wouldn't want Gaster to get into shit, and as much as those two trouble making brats, (Chara and Asriel) annoyed him, he admittedly wouldn't want them to get into this whole thing either. But he knew there was the possibility that if anything went bad, he and Frisk might not be able to handle it all by themselves. Not only did he have to think about his own safety (like he used to when he was only solo), he had to think of Frisk's too. No harm was allowed to come to her when she was in his care. Or anyone else's for that matter. He would never forgive himself or anyone else if she came to harm.
"but i will keep it in mind." He agreed, seeing Gaster smile gladly at that. For the time being the skeleton only had to continue trying his best to keep avoiding running into her possible traps. Not giving away for even a second what he or Frisk did. That he and Frisk were the two people that had escaped from that building from Blair, and that he was the person who had shot majority of the people in there.
Meanwhile, about a block away, Undyne was getting antsy. Maybe because she was frustrated that she hadn't found where Sans headed off to with Frisk almost every few days. That short skeleton always parked his car in this spot they were currently at, but neither the human nor the monster were anywhere to be seen. The tracker (that she finally managed to put on his car), was basically pointless when they couldn't find where he had gone.
"God damn it! Where could they be!? They have to be hiding something if they play tricks like this." Undyne grumbled in frustration, earning a frown from Papyrus who simply shook his own head and exhaled.
"I STILL THINK YOU'RE WRONG, UNDYNE... MAYBE SANS DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO HIDE. DON'T YOU THINK YOU'RE TAKING THIS WHOLE THING A BIT TOO FAR?" Papyrus dared to ask, seeing the fish glare at him with annoyance. He understood this case probably meant a lot to her, due to her sense of justice. However, sometimes she did overstep things a little when it turned out really there was nothing there, (though in this case Undyne technically was right on the money).
"You're awfully supportive of your suspicious brother. Why is that?" Undyne asked the tall monster, who simply smiled at his boss as if that was the most simple answer ever. Wasn't it obvious why he supported him? Not just because he was hiding the truth away from her and wanted him to be okay...
"IT'S BECAUSE HE'S MY BROTHER. I WANT HIM TO NOT BE GUILTY. I DON'T REALLY LIKE INVESTIGATING HIM LIKE THIS." He simply replied, earning a sigh from her in response to his statement. She understood that Papyrus looked up to his older brother. She really did. However... Letting emotions get in the way of their job was problematic. She didn't want to see Papyrus take a bad path, like obstructing justice. Considering he was a good member of their team, and she believed he had potential.
"...I know, Papyrus. I just don't want to see you get in the way if it turns out he's guilty." She frowned towards him, no doubt causing him to feel a small pang of guilt on the inside, considering he was actually hiding the truth from her, and he was at this point committing the crime of "obstruction of justice". He couldn't falter though. Maybe that was her plan or something. Maybe she wanted to see him crumble and break his whole facade of knowing nothing, as he truly knew the truth. He wouldn't let that happen though. For Sans' and Frisk's sake. For everyone's.
"I KNOW. I WON'T GET IN THE WAY, I PROMISE."
That wasn't really a promise he was going to be able to keep.
