Keep Out Of Trouble [89]

Finding it surprising that they didn't feel exhausted the next morning, Sans and Frisk actually managed to wake up in pretty good moods, smiling at each other from ear to ear when they woke up underneath the covers and could see each other's faces. They adored waking up to being able to see each other first thing in the morning. Before meeting Frisk, all Sans used to wake up to was his empty room and he would always be in a depressed mood. In a mood that just said "fuck everything". A mood that didn't really care for much. Now, he woke up the happiest he had ever felt.

Wishing each other a good morning, Frisk was the first person to climb out of bed to go take a shower. While waiting for her to finish, the skeleton decided to stay put in the bed covers, until Frisk returned fully dressed, and she was drying her drenched hair with a fluffy towel. "The bathroom is free." She told him with a beam, and that's when Sans got up to have a shower of his own, before proceeding to throw on some casual clothing.

Like any other day, the human and the monster went to the kitchen together to have their breakfast. Frisk decided to have some cereal, while Sans toasted some bread to eat for breakfast, then he buttered it and began eating once it was prepared. It was times like this where life actually just felt normal. Sans did feel more like a normal monster when he was around Frisk. Sometimes in her company he could almost forget the life around them.

"so, what are we actually doin' today?" Sans asked his girlfriend, who currently had a mouthful of cereal. She had to take a minute to finish eating, before she could actually answer his question. Truth be told she didn't have an idea of her own of what they would be able to do today. Even just going for a simple walk together sounded nice and pleasant though. Maybe they could just do that.

"Well... We could go for a walk. Or we could go shopping. When was the last time you did that?" Frisk wondered, going to get up and look in the fridge. And to no surprise, there wasn't actually much left in there. Just a few left over items that were left untouched. Yeah, they really had to go shopping. "Yeah, we have to go shopping. So, how about a shopping trip?" Frisk beamed. As a kid she never had to have that responsibility of going shopping for herself; her parents always used to do that. Now she was a 20 year old adult who had to have responsibilities of her own. Sometimes it was still difficult to process.

"well, seein' as we have to..." He sighed. He didn't exactly enjoy going shopping for groceries. Though, for once he wasn't by himself. A shopping trip might be more entertaining when he had his girlfriend at his side to help him with it. "sure, why not?" He grinned with a small shrug as he finished off his toast, and Frisk finished her cereal soon afterwards. With a caring smile, Sans carefully took the dish she ate her cereal in, while also taking his own plate to the sink. He only placed them in there to be washed for later - he could do it when they got back.

"ready to go?" Sans questioned, just as they were putting on their shoes and coats. Answering with a nod, the human smiled, going to link her hand with his skeletal one. Linking hands - a way to show to people around them that they belonged together. They really did, even if they didn't live the most normal, natural lives. They could still act like they were, even if it was just for a short while. Just a short while of them talking and laughing together as they walked down the sidewalk, side by side.

Going into the supermarket when they got there, Sans and Frisk went to look at the different aisles, thinking of what food they should get to eat for the rest of the week. They had the luck of having a lot of money due to work, so they didn't have to have the disadvantage of worrying about spending too much money on groceries. They didn't have to worry about if they brought something now, they wouldn't have enough for something later. Even if it was risky work, it earned them a decent living. Earning a decent living is one of the many reasons why Sans kept the job that he had.

"Should we get more burgers and fries?" Frisk suggested; her boyfriend nodded. With his agreement, Frisk went to open the store freezer in front of her, grabbing the burgers and then going to look for the fries as they weren't right next to the burgers and were instead in another freezer, so she proceeded to grab them too once she had found them. Of course burgers and fries weren't the only things they bought, as it wasn't healthy. Frisk also needed a healthy diet, so she made sure to buy some vegetables and some fruits too. With extra bits of food for other meals they could possibly have.

"i'm gonna look on another one of the aisles and see if there's anythin' else we might want." Sans spoke, earning a nod from Frisk who was more concentrated on staring towards things on the shelves, or in the fridges, rather than looking at her skeletal boyfriend when he mentioned he was going to wander off. That being said, the skeleton simply left her side to peer around at what else they could buy, coming to another one of the aisles like he had planned.

When walking down the aisle, he wasn't paying a lot of attention to people who might have been walking the other way. He had to repeat that silly habit of accidentally bumping into someone, causing him and this other person to come to a stop in bewilderment. "hey! watch where-- papyrus?!" Of course it had to be his brother once again who he accidentally walked into. Before he had had such good luck of being able to avoid him (not that he wanted to avoid him now), but now he could never stop with accidentally bumping into him.

"SANS! I WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO GO LOOK FOR YOU AFTER I HAD FINISHED SHOPPING!" Papyrus mentioned. "I WAS GOING TO CALL YOU." He added, noticing how calling his brother would have been much easier than searching for him. It was difficult not to almost forget sometimes how they were in contact with each other now, seeing as Sans actually let him call. On a different phone though. Sans had the phone he used for work (and for people to call him if they were in the mafia), and for contact with his brother, he just had a different ordinary phone. Two different phone numbers, one for work, and one that was for more ordinary things.

"lookin' for me? what, why? is somethin' the matter? did that tall metal tin can upset ya?" Sans grumbled, already seeming ready to give someone's ass a kicking if they had upset his little brother. Papyrus found it hard not to smile slightly at that, even though his older brother was completely wrong. He smiled because it was nice to see his brother protective of him again, just like when they were little. That was something he had definitely missed.

"NO! NO, NOT AT ALL! ACTUALLY... IT'S ABOUT YOU."

"about me?" Sans repeated in confusion. For a moment he glanced over his shoulder to check if Frisk had caught up to him yet, but she must have still been distracted looking for groceries. He stared back at his brother, wondering just what was going on. Papyrus even had a look of concern spread across his face, and it only made him feel somewhat nervous. What information did he have to tell him that was about him?

Because of this, when Frisk was back at Sans' side, (while also proceeding to say hello to Papyrus), the three of them went to check out their items, before arriving outside on the sidewalk. Sans suggested it would probably be a better idea to talk somewhere more private, or at least where there wouldn't be people, people and more people walking to and fro along the path. People who could possibly listen in on their conversation. It wasn't a good idea to take Papyrus back to headquarters, just in case any of his friends were around. And Sans didn't feel too comfortable about heading back to his and Frisk's apartment. So, Papyrus suggested his place, which they agreed to.

"DO YOU WANT ANYTHING TO DRINK?" Papyrus asked kindly to his guests once they had got through his front door, who only shook their heads. The older skeleton was more eager to hear whatever it was that his little brother had to say. So, he wanted to skip out on any eating or drinking for now and just wanted to talk. Thankfully his younger brother understood that and sat down with them on his couch, while Frisk was carefully putting the shopping bags filled with items aside, trying to keep them out of the way.

"so... what is it? what do ya have to tell me, about me?" Sans asked, causing Papyrus to sigh. Frisk stared at the two skeletons silently, as she was sitting on the edge of the couch, while Sans sat in the middle and Papyrus sat in the last space on the other end. She too was curious as to whatever this information was; it didn't sound like something that was good. Like sunshine and daisies.

"IT'S UNDYNE... YOU SEE, WE WERE SENT TO INVESTIGATE THIS BUILDING WITH HER BECAUSE THERE HAD BEEN REPORTS OF SOMETHING GOING ON THERE. PEOPLE HEARD GUNSHOTS, BUT IT WAS ONLY REPORTED TO US A LITTLE WHILE AFTER WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE." Papyrus was saying. "I KNOW THAT YOU WERE BOTH THERE." Papyrus spoke, seeing Sans' and Frisk's eyes widen a little in alarm. Before Sans got all worried, thinking something bad was going to happen, that he brought him along to arrest him, he continued. "I TRIED MY BEST TO KEEP THE OTHERS FROM FINDING ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HAVE MADE IT CLEAR THAT YOU WERE THERE. HOWEVER... UNDYNE MIGHT BE ONTO YOU."

"Wait, you tampered with evidence? Isn't that a crime?" Frisk said, seeing the weak smile on Papyrus' face. The younger skeleton had already decided that he would try and keep his older brother out of trouble if he had to. He decided that when they came face to face with each other and spoke for the first time in a long time. He couldn't stand the thought of Sans going behind bars for the rest of his life. He just couldn't.

"yeah, it is... but papyrus bein' stupid said he wouldn't tell undyne what i do... even though he could get in trouble, and lose his job." Sans muttered glumly with a shake of his head. "and besides, it wasn't our fault that we were there. me and frisk, we were kidnapped, and we had to escape." He explained, while Papyrus nodded in agreement to that. He didn't really believe his brother was guilty.

"SELF DEFENCE, RIGHT?" Papyrus responded. Sans was not an evil person. He may have had a horrible job, but Papyrus did not see him as a disgusting monster (a monster as in human terms). He saw him as a man who was doing what he was paid to do, even if he didn't agree with it. Sans would never stop being his brother. And he would never want to stop from trying to keep him out of prison. "BUT THERE'S THE CHANCE SHE MIGHT GO LOOKING FOR YOU. SHE MIGHT WANT TO ASK YOU SOME QUESTIONS. THE BOTH OF YOU." Papyrus went on. "SO BE CAREFUL."

"We'll try our best." Frisk said, smiling towards Sans who grinned a tiny bit in return. They would just have to make sure not to lead her to headquarters if she did decide to track him down and keep an eye on him, or the both of them. They had to not act suspicious, try to blend in. If they were found out... Sans wasn't really sure what they would do. He didn't have a plan yet of how to try and stop them from getting arrested.

But maybe it was a good idea to try and come up with one.
