Is It Really Terrible [62]

Uncomfortable. Yeah, he was uncomfortable. There was no other way to put it other than that. Unfortunately, Sans had agreed to trying to get to know the human guy he had grown to hate so damn much over the time that he had been around. How could he not hate the person who had tried to hide information from him about his dad? How could he not hate the guy who started dating the girl he so desperately wanted to be with? Was it really so, so shocking that he didn't want to get along with him?

But here he was, sitting at the bar about twenty minutes after his conversation with Grillby. Frisk had decided to stay with the two monsters, wanting Sans to try and do this all by himself. She thought he was capable. To tell the truth he didn't even think he was capable of getting along with the guy. How did you suddenly go from someone being your absolute worst enemy, to suddenly getting along with them just like that?

Well, then again, Frisk had started off as someone he didn't get along with at first. But that was different... Sans didn't get along with Frisk for very different reasons as to why he didn't get along with Andrew. He hated the guy; he never knew if he would stop hating him.

"Well, are you just going to silently sit there, or do you want to order something?" Andrew eventually had the nerve to say towards the quiet thinking skeleton. Snapping out of his thoughts, Sans narrowed his eyes at the human, who did get a little nervous at just his glare alone. Then, the monster sighed.

"i'll just have a bottle of ketchup..." Sans grumbled. Hearing that, Andrew went to grab just what he asked for, putting it on the counter in front of him. Sans didn't say thanks or anything. He just sat, taking the bottle into his grasp. Andrew just stood, not being able to tell if he was going to say something or not. But he didn't, as he started to drink his ketchup.

"So... How has Frisk been?" Andrew asked, causing Sans to spit out the ketchup he was drinking in shock, causing a slight look of surprise and disgust to fall upon the boy's face. After that, Sans began to snarl at him.

"um, what? are you serious? are you actually askin' me? the guy who is now datin' her? the one ya lost her to? don't ya think that's a little fuckin' weird?" Sans demanded, which only made Andrew frown. Frisk was still his friend though, so shouldn't he have been allowed to ask? It's not like she was suddenly off bounds, right?

"Well... Just because you're now her boyfriend and she's not here, I just thought... I mean, I'm still allowed to care about her, aren't I?" Andrew questioned, causing Sans' brow to twitch in frustration.

"depends what ya mean by 'care'. do ya care about her as in ya still love her?" Sans asked. Andrew paused.

"I... I mean, it hasn't been that long since we broke up so..." He gulped. "Of course I still love her." He said, hearing the skeleton growl. "B-But that doesn't mean I'm going to do anything! She chose to be with you, so I know I can't do anything about it... You got her fair and square..." Andrew sighed sadly. Sans didn't say anything to that. He just fell quiet himself, continuing to drink his ketchup. Andrew decided to speak up once more.

"Can you just do me a favour?" Andrew wondered.

"a favour? for ya? fuck off." Sans snapped.

"Please? Can you just... Make sure you take care of her. Don't you dare even hurt her." Andrew said. What the fuck was it with everyone thinking he was going to hurt her?! Hell, he cared more about Frisk than he cared about his own well being at this point. He'd risk his own life to protect her.

"honestly, fuck ya. i ain't gonna hurt her, ya worthless piece of shit. but if ya keep goin' the way you're goin', i will hurt ya. and there won't be anythin' that could stop me. capiche?" Sans warned, causing the human to silently nod out of fear, due to the skeleton's harsh tone and his pupil-less sockets. Seeing that he got to him, he continued. "don't think that just because i'm sittin' here when you're here because i suddenly trust ya. truth is, i don't. to me you're nothin' but a lyin' dirtbag."

"That's not what I am!" Andrew argued, wanting to try and stand up for himself. Why should he have just stood by and let this skeleton walk all over him, when he had no idea what he was talking about. He acted like he knew him. That he was just acting. But this wasn't what this was! He never asked to become so damn hated.

"oh, really? aren't ya the same guy who tried to keep my father's location a secret just because your shitty family was involved? sounds like a dirty liar to me." Sans seethed, standing up from his stool, as he didn't like the idea of the guy towering over him.

"I just wanted to protect my family! Is that really so bad?! Even if your family involved bad people, would you just entirely abandon them, or would you want to keep them safe?! Because I sure as hell didn't want for any of them to die! Now because of you, they were likely all caught by the CIA, and they're probably all fucking dead by now! I just wanted them to be okay... Is that really so terrible?"Andrew began to sob, catching the skeleton somewhat off guard. That had to have been the first time this guy had properly snapped at him. For awhile, he had been letting him walk all over him, but now he must have been sick of it.

What he said just then, the idea of wanting to protect family, even if they were bad people... It made him think of Papyrus. Just because Sans knew what they did was bad, and he never saw himself as a good person. Yet despite that, his little brother would rather protect him than put his life in risk. He sighed, going to sit back down.

"alright, calm down with the water works..." Sans grumbled, earning a confused look from the tearful teenager. "you're creatin' a scene." He paused for a moment as Andrew exhaled himself and went to carefully wipe away his tears. The skeleton frowned. "that part about wantin' to protect your family, even if they were bad people..." Sans spoke.

"...Yeah? What? Are you going to mock me some more?" Andrew asked with a frown. To his surprise, Sans shook his head, as he picked up his ketchup bottle to have another sip.

"no... i was just gonna say i get it, that's all." He said, proceeding to take a big gulp.

This wasn't him saying that he was suddenly going to be best buds with the guy. But maybe he did understand him just a tiny bit better.
