Believe [73]
"You must be pretty excited for your date, huh?" Grillby was asking the skeleton, as the two friends were conversing in his bar, while Andrew was busy cleaning glass cups. The reason the flame monster had been one to point this out was because: Sans probably had the widest smile on his face that Grillby had ever seen. It was almost alien to see him so cheerful; Frisk was the cause of that. Which made the monster glad to see Sans so happy.
"well, of course. it is her birthday. i want it to be special for her." Sans murmured, after having taken a sip of his drink that was in his hand, while he rested his chin in his other hand, looking quite thoughtful. As if he was wondering how the evening might possibly go. He hoped they would both enjoy themselves. That it wouldn't be boring and be filled with nothing but awkward silences. The last thing he wanted was to give Frisk a terrible, terrible 20th birthday.
"That's clear. Judging by how thoughtful you seem." Grillby joked. The entire time, Andrew was staying silent as he moved on to cleaning some dishes. Inside his chest, his heart practically ached a little at the fact that he was no longer the one who could do nice things for Frisk. He couldn't spend romantic evenings with her, he couldn't get her gifts on valentine's day, or just do any of that couple stuff that he wanted to do. While it hurt for him however, he still had to respect Frisk's wishes. She was happy with Sans. He always had to tell himself if she was happy with him, then he was happy for her. He had to be her supportive friend.
"heh, right. i better get goin'." Sans said, getting up from his seat, leaving most of his drink not drank. Really he was looking forward to his and Frisk's date a lot, and he didn't want to eat or drink too much to the point he'd easily feel full at the restaurant they were going to together. "have fun with the cleanin'." He joked, while Grillby softly smiled as he watched him leave.
"You have fun too. Just not too much fun." The flame monster had joked back, earning a sarcastic laugh before he left. As if. Tonight wasn't even about that. It was just about spending a really nice date with Frisk for her birthday. Considering she probably hadn't had a nice birthday in God knows how long, seeing as she had been living on the street before meeting all of them. She deserved a lovely romantic evening, for just being an amazing woman.
When getting to Toriel's, Sans simply waited outside the front door as he was told Frisk was almost ready and would be out in a moment. It was pretty cold, but seeing as Sans didn't have skin, he didn't really feel it. So it's not like he minded waiting out in the freezing air for a little while for the arrival of his girlfriend. Looking around, Sans' attention had been distracted by the things around him; he was just trying to find some way to entertain himself while he waited. Soon he heard Frisk's voice in front of him, so he turned to look, and it was difficult to stop the soft blush from appearing on his cheekbones.
Standing in front of him, Frisk had her beautiful brown chestnut hair in slight wavy curls just hanging around her shoulders. She was wearing yet another dress, which was identical to the one she had worn at that party, except this one was completely black. The dress she was wearing really showed off her perfect curves magnificently. She really looked like an angel, it was hard not to stare. "woah... frisk ya look..." He started, looking her up and down. He couldn't help but notice she was wearing some black high heels too. "ya look so elegant. are ya gonna wear a jacket though? it's pretty freezin'."
"You look good too." Frisk giggled, seeing that he was wearing a suit just for the occasion, which was also the same one she recognised him wearing at that party. "And yeah, I'm just going to grab it now. I thought I'd show you what I was wearing before we'd leave. Your reaction was worth it." She giggled, before going to grab her coat off a coat rack that hung literally right next to the door. Pulling her coat over her shoulders, she smiled and stepped out into the cold air alongside her skeletal boyfriend. "I'm going, mom!"
"Enjoy yourself Frisk. And stay safe!" Toriel's voice had called back. Then Frisk closed the door after herself, and gently went to link her hand in Sans' while they beamed at each other. The look in their eyes showed how truly in love they were with one another. The human girl was so overjoyed that she got to spend her 20th birthday with the person she cherished the most.
"Lead the way my skeleton man." Frisk teased, giving his hand a small squeeze. This managed to earn a small chuckle out of him, and then the two of them began to walk side by side to the restaurant that Sans had decided to book their meal at. And it was in within walking distance; the skeleton actually thought it would be more romantic to walk over together rather than taking the car. Which was clear to him now that that decision had been a better idea, as they were already talking and laughing a little together on their way over to the restaurant.
Upon arrival, the couple did have to wait in a small queue to be able to check themselves in. But that was fine, Frisk didn't mind waiting at all as it felt like she had all the time in the world. Especially standing next to this handsome man she felt so lucky to have. Their whole relationship may have started off on a rocky road, but to get to this point in their lives where they felt such deep love for each other, it made all of that previous struggle so, so worth it. She didn't regret one thing about all the time they had spent together. Not any of the arguments, not any of the bad times, nothing. It's what got them this far.
Finally, the two of them got to the front of the queue, being able to book themselves in for their table. The entire time Sans kept his hand linked in Frisk's, which was the way of just saying to the world "I'm the one who has this fantastic woman". Even though the monster didn't really like the idea of other guys staring at her while he was with Frisk, it made him wonder how she didn't get fussed over by more boys. Just because she was so stunning.
"ladies first." Sans teased, as he had pulled out her chair for her when they had reached their table. Giggling softly, Frisk kindly thanked him as she went to sit down in her chair. He then proceeded to head to his own seat, sitting down on it once he had.
"Such a gentleman." She joked, earning a small laugh out of the skeleton, while they both went to pick up their menus that had been put on their table. "Really, Sans. I know we've only been here for a couple of minutes, but I just want to thank you for doing this for me. It means a lot." She beamed widely towards him. It was hard not to grin in return when her lovely smile felt so infectious.
"hey, ya'd do the same for me... considerin' ya did." He laughed quietly alongside her once more. "but ya don't have to thank me. i really wanted to make your birthday special. 'specially as it's your 20th. and well, i'm sure ya haven't had a good birthday in a long time, considerin' ya have been livin' on the street." He shrugged a little, while Frisk slowly nodded along as she listened.
"Well, already you've managed to make this my favourite birthday in a long time, just for being here." She gently spoke. Hearing her say that really made the skeleton smile, and as he saw her leaning towards him for a kiss, he gladly leaned towards her in return, allowing their mouths to meet in the middle in a kiss. The pair closed their eyes as their mouths slowly danced in unison. It was a kiss that definitely showed their love for one another.
After pulling away, they found it difficult not to beam from ear to ear as they picked up their menus and began scanning over them with their eyes, deciding on what to eat. When their meals had been chosen, and a waiter had been told of what they wanted, they began to break into conversation once more, just talking about general things. Just enjoying their night together as boyfriend and girlfriend on Frisk's birthday.
Their meals were brought to them, being slowly consumed among more conversation and even small glasses of wine, which really made Frisk feel like she was fancy. Normally she wasn't one to drink alcoholic drinks, even when she had been 19 years old. But hell, today was her birthday so she didn't see why the hell not. It was just something nice to sip alongside her meal she was eating. She likely wouldn't have more than one or two. And she had stayed true to that. Sans had around the same, not wanting to ruin the date by drinking too much and making himself drunk. Considering they had to also walk home together.
The soft sound of some gentle music in the background was enough to make Frisk very gently sway in her seat while her and Sans talked through the night. It kind of made her wish that they were able to dance together again like they had at that party, but instead they would dance together as a couple. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to dance here. Which was disappointing. Maybe they could do such a thing some other day... Or...
When the date had to come to an end, Frisk admittedly felt somewhat disappointed. Just because she wanted to stay with Sans for longer. She didn't want to go home yet to her mother's, and that was pretty clear by the frown on her face as she walked out of the restaurant hand in hand with Sans. "I don't want to go home yet..." She sighed. Sans sadly smiled at that.
"i know. i kinda wish the date wasn't over yet too. it's been a great evenin'. i'm glad ya seem like ya enjoyed it." He chuckled as they continued walking down the sidewalk. Frisk smiled at that, before thinking back to that whole dancing thing she had been thinking about earlier. Why did the date have to come to an end now? Surely they could stay together for just a bit longer, right? There was nothing wrong with that.
"Hey, Sans?" Frisk spoke up, wanting to voice exactly what she had been thinking. Hearing a small "hm?" from him, she decided to continue to speak. "Can I come back with you to your apartment? To stay with you for a bit longer." She saw him glance towards her, a surprised look on his face. "I was thinking... Do you have a CD player at home? I really wanted to do some dancing when I heard that really nice music. But obviously there was nowhere to dance."
Slowly starting to smile once more, Sans nodded at that, liking the idea of them getting to dance together a little as a way to end the date. He had noticed her swaying a tiny bit when they had been talking, and he just assumed that she had been enjoying the music. He had been too, it had given the place a nice and romantic atmosphere. Making that one of the main reasons why he had chosen they should eat there.
Anyway, when they had arrived at Sans' apartment, Frisk was the one who set to putting some nice music on that either had lyrics or no lyrics at all. Music that they could slow dance to together in each other's arms. The perfect end to the perfect date. The skeleton also put two glasses on the kitchen counter in case either of them wanted anything else to drink. He hadn't filled them with anything, but he had put them there just in case.
With all of that done, the couple beamed at each other, having the look of love in their eyes as they stood close together. The monster wrapped his arms around the human's waist, while she went to carefully link her hand on her own wrist behind the skeleton's neck, and she stared up at him as their faces were fairly close together. "I love you, Sans." She quietly said.
"i love ya too, frisk." He whispered in response. "i'm glad that i was able to make ya happy." He murmured to her, causing her to let out a small giggle in return. He really had made her happy. Not just tonight though. Being with him made her happy. It made her want to be with him all the time. It made her hope that... The two of them had some kind of future. She wanted to believe she had a future with Sans. She really did.
"You'll always make me happy. Not just tonight... I... I've actually been thinking... How I hope to have a future with you." She blushed a tiny bit while she said that, and Sans found it difficult not to find his own cheekbones mantled in cyan blush himself at such adorable comments from her. It made him happy that she seemed like she wanted to have a future with him. Because he wanted to have a future with her too.
"i feel the same way." He faintly answered.
Gradually moving forward, the couple found themselves in another affectionate kiss, fluttering their eyes closed in the process as they moved together with the gentle music. This was a night that they never wanted to end.
