According To Plan [54]
Birthdays... Frisk was wondering if there were any coming up, because it had been so long since Frisk had celebrated a birthday party. She thought it would be really fun to plan one. She really wanted to do one for Andrew, but sadly his birthday was a couple of months away yet. This made her wonder like a curious cat as to when any of her monster friends' birthdays were. (And Chara's too of course!)
Seeing as Chara and Asriel came by the house to see their mother, Frisk had decided it would be a good idea to ask them if anyone had a birthday coming up soon. She really just hoped they knew some people who would maybe have a birthday in January or February.
"Uh well... My birthday isn't until September." Asriel had admitted at the dinner table, as they were all having lunch together that day. Of course one person that was absent from the table was Asgore. With how busy he was with work (being the Mafia boss), it wouldn't have been likely that he would have the time to eat with his family.
"And mine is in October." Chara added with a small nod. As far as Chara knew, there was no one who was becoming a year older this month. Or maybe... Maybe... "Wait, I know who you could throw a birthday party for! Their birthday is this month."
"Really? Who?" Frisk asked. Chara was going to respond, at least until her goat mother had to cut her off.
"If you're thinking of throwing a birthday party for Sans' 21st, forget about it." Toriel shook her head with a saddened frown. "That skeleton wouldn't accept such a thing. He's not one for parties. He wouldn't appreciate it." After all, she noted how at that party they went to in a previous month, Sans had mostly just spent time eating food and being alone. Even with his brother there. She had seen him dancing little with Frisk at one point, likely against his will, that was about it.
"No, believe me, Sans might appreciate this one." Chara spoke up. If it's planned by Frisk, he'd likely be grateful. She was just hoping that her mother wouldn't ask as to why he would be glad to have a party. After all, she didn't like the idea of spreading Sans' secret to Frisk. Even if Chara and Sans weren't always on good terms, she knew love could be complex if that person chose to make it complicated, and she didn't want to be horrible to him about it.
"Oh really? And why is that?" Toriel wondered. She just had to ask the question that Chara didn't want her to ask. But she wasn't going to tell the truth. Sorry mom.
"I just think he will, that's all." Chara shrugged, earning a sigh from Toriel. She was clearly in disbelief. Seeing that Chara was obviously trying to push Frisk to plan Sans' party, he spoke in agreement with Chara.
"I totally agree. If you want we can help you plan a party for him." Asriel offered towards Frisk, who began to smile widely. She loved the idea of being able to plan this for Sans, if Chara and Asriel really believed that Sans wouldn't hate it, and hate her for doing such a thing.
After eating, Chara, Asriel and Frisk headed upstairs to Frisk's bedroom, wanting to plan out Sans' party. Grabbing a pen and paper, Frisk began to write down ideas that they all thought of together, while also writing a list of who they should invite... After everything that had happened, maybe this would really make her and Sans feel like real friends again.
Planning, planning and more planning later, the trio felt like they had everything decided. Now was just to try and arrange everything for the day. It would be a surprise party, so Sans was not to know about it. Seeing as it was a 21st birthday, they thought the party should be special (even for that cranky skeleton!), so they decided they should probably eat out at some restaurant somewhere.
"Hey, what are you guys doing?" Andrew peered over the trios shoulders to see what they were planning. He had still been asleep, as the night before he and Frisk had been up late, watching movies. Frisk thought that he looked so peaceful that she didn't have the strength in her to wake him up. Instead, she let him continue to rest.
"We're planning a birthday party for Sans." Frisk spoke up, earning a small surprised look from Andrew.
"Really?"
"Yeah, do you want to help?" Frisk asked.
"I would but... I feel like he would just hate it if he knew I was involved. You've seen the way he looks at me." Andrew weakly smiled. The last thing he needed was getting his head bitten off by the person who clearly hated him the most.
With that decided, Chara suggested that Frisk should be the one to keep Sans distracted until everything was ready. Frisk was not so sure if she could manage it, but she gave in when Chara wouldn't take no for an answer. Chara knew that in Frisk's company, the skeleton in love would totally be distracted in her presence.
On the other hand, the skeleton still couldn't believe that sometime this month, he would be turning 21. He sure as hell didn't feel like a 21 year old, neither did he probably really act like one. He hated the idea of getting older, especially because of the direction his life had taken. What was going to happen? That he would eventually reach his 30's and still not feel proud of anything that he had done? By the time he got to that age, he probably would still be alone too... Seeing how happy Frisk was with Andrew right now, there was always the chance they would be together forever.
He was just a rebound - that's what Chara had said. But what if he wasn't?! What if Andrew really was the guy that Frisk would end up marrying? His world would come crashing down around him. (As if it hasn't already!)
Oh, Sans, shut the hell up. They haven't even been together all that long and already he was sorting out their fucking vows for them. Maybe they wouldn't get that far in their relationship. Maybe one of them would lose interest. Maybe Frisk would realise she still did love him instead of Andrew and she decides to break up with him, just like that dream!
Either that or Sans would be hopelessly drooling over the girl that was just driving him crazy. Could he just go back to the days where he wasn't really thinking about her at all? Why did life have to become so damn complicated?!
While Sans was busy raging inside his head to himself in his quiet apartment, he heard his phone beginning to go off in his pocket. For a moment he had almost ignored it, not in the mood to put up with Chara's yelling - if it was her calling him. Though with an exasperated sigh, he proceeded to answer the ringing noise.
"hello?" Sans had been waiting for Chara's familiar voice to blare down the speaker, almost compromising his good hearing for the hundredth time. Instead, he got a result he really had not expected in the slightest.
"Hey! It's Frisk!" Frisk spoke cheerily on the other end. Sans couldn't stop the breath from slightly hitching in his throat from shock. Oh man he hoped she didn't hear that. Ugh, did he really have to get a major adrenaline rush right now, just because he was on the phone with her? He felt like a stupid dramatic highschool teen with the way he was feeling.
"oh, hey, what's up?" Sans answered, trying his absolute hardest as to not stumble over his words and look like a complete fool.
"Well, I was just calling to ask if you were busy on the 19th." Frisk questioned. The 19th? Funnily enough, that was the same day as his birthday, which he was certain Frisk had no idea about. He never told her. Could Chara or Asriel have possibly told her? No, they'd have no reason to, right?
"r-really? i mean... wouldn't ya wanna hang out with andrew?" Sans wondered. Even though Sans couldn't see her, she shook her head, then she replied.
"No, we've been spending a lot of time together so we thought we'd have a bit of a break... Besides, I thought you and me haven't been on the most amazing terms lately, so if you'd like to maybe we could spend some time together, make things feel even better." Frisk smiled. She was happy that Sans said at that party that he didn't hate her. She just didn't want to become irritating to him. To her luck though, he said exactly what she had wanted.
"sure, we can hang out."
Everything just might go according to plan.
