When you gift something they don't like
Tommy:
He is still thankful, even if he doesn't like it. You still went out to get it and put money into this, so he will just see that as more of the gift that you put the energy into this. This will now symbolize your efforts instead of what it actually is.
Paulie:
"Thaanks..." with the most 'I don't like or care for it' expression. Second you hand it over it's placed down and forgotten. His interest is already on something new.
Later on he'll ramble to his friends about it, in disbelief how you couldn't know he wouldn't like that.
Sam:
He'll say a 'thanks. ... And you are sure this isn't a gift for someone else, huh?" His face is gonna say he doesn't like it, but if you address it he'll answer, 'No, no, it's whatever, just... I'll find a use for it, thanks.'
Vito:
He grew up poor so he learned to appreciate even the smallest. Also with a sister and mother who scolded him as a kid whenever he did show displeasure so he learned to always fake a smile and bigger reaction than needed, especially to a shitty gift.
So you get a gasp, big smile, way too long inspection of the gift, then a 'thank you!' with a hug. You never saw him touch it again after that day...
Joe:
He likes weird things, but this is just bad. "Waaw," more out of wonder you found something even his 'exquisite' taste finds bad, "Thank you, babe, this is... great." He can be blunt, usually in a joking form, but for gifts, especially from you, he doesn't have that heart to say it's bad.
He'll be stuck sitting on his pink couch, staring at the gift, so deeply stuck on how he can use this.
Henry:
He is appreciative, but he admits if he doesn't like it. Why? He learned from the past when he once faked liking a gift, and then they kept buying him that same or similar gifts. So he says he appreciates the thought but this isn't his thing so he hopes you can turn it back in for your money back or a better gift.
