Chapter 39: Breaking Dawn

I FELT a gentle kiss on my forehead that made me open my eyes. A handsome man came into view that made me smile.

"Good morning," he greeted and kissed my lips.

I blink countless times, collecting my thoughts that drift away when I'm sleeping. My eyes widen when I realize that we are in the mansion.

Napabalikwas ako sa. . .kama?

When did I get here?

"You fell asleep," he answered the question on my mind.

"Walang nangyari? The enemies? No one dared to come here? Are we safe now?" sunod-sunod na tanong ko at napabalikwas sa kama.

I felt a relief on my system, I can finally see the sunlight. I let out a slow and steady breath, and finally, my heart began to calm down with the thought of a coming sunrise.

Agon was about to kiss me when a sudden warning on the monitor alerted us.

He quickly got his gun inside the drawer and handed me some of it.

"Go to that secret door. You'll be safe there."

"But how about you? I want to stay," giit ko.

Agon heaved a sigh, a sign of defeat.

He reached for my hand and held it tightly. "I will allow you to fight, but on my side. Huwag kang lalayo."

I love seeing his back in this view. It soothes the storm building in my soul.

He pressed something on the wall, and all the lights switched off.
The pitch-black surroundings somewhat bring anxiety within me, but on Agon's warm hands, it sips away what I felt.

"Stick with me. Embrace yourself for another battle."

I nodded as if he could see it. "I will."

A series of explosions outside filled the eerie atmosphere here on the island that made me cling to Agon's hand even harder. My heart beat kicked faster for the unexpected chaos outside. I felt the shaking ground in every explosion—a shockwave that nearly knocked me off my feet.

"What was that?" panic creeped into my voice as I held Agon.

I can hear the agony of enemies screaming in pain and calling for backup to aid them.

"There are bombs underground, they specialize for intruders. It's served its purpose for a time like this."

My eyes widened in disbelief. That's why Agon was guiding me when we walked through it!

I didn't know that half of my feet were on the grave! God!

"Why did you not tell me?!" inis kong hampas sa kaniya.

"You didn't ask," he answered, giving a fact.

I was about to talkback, but the ground trembled again as another explosion ripped through this island. This time, it was closer than before.

Gunshots roared after that. To think that they are hiding, ultimo kahit ako ay hindi napansin iyon. They are really good at hiding their presence, to the point that I thought we were alone here on this island.

Even Agon's men are quite few here, this whole island was armed with hidden weapons, and Agon was fully equipped with strategies. Agon himself can take down all twenty enemies in a matter of seconds. After all, he was not hailed as a mafia boss for nothing.

Since the glasswall was bulletproof, it leaves a small crack on it.

My grip tightened on my weapon. Another gunfire rained down as the glass window created cracks where the bullet struck. Agon grabbed me and pulled me closer to him.

"Let's go. This place can withstand a few more rounds of gunfire, but it can't protect us forever."

A forceful pull brought back my attention to Agon, but before I knew it, I heard a consecutive shot.

The mansion was cloaked in darkness, and it was really hard to take a look at the surroundings.

Agon pulled me again, and this time we were running.

"Stay close to me, baby. I won't let them hurt you, not on my side," he said.

Adrenaline surged through my veins as I noticed a moving shadow approaching us. My heartbeat quickened as I gripped my gun tightly, waiting for the right moment to pull the trigger.

When I felt the chills run through my system, I did not hesitate to take down the enemy. A loud thud echoed throughout the hallway as I felt Agon's hand tighten around mine.

"That was fast, baby," he commented—amused.

"Of course! I was trained with cool teachers," I proudly said, pertaining to Agon and his friends.
