"Why are we here again?" I ask Matt as he takes a sip of his drink, he took me out to a club claiming he had business here and I needed a night out.

I didn't object and I didn't even question why his business was at a club but we've been waiting for what feels like forever, and Ive gotten bored and hungry.

"I'm hungry, can we get food after this?" Matt looks at me before shaking his head.

"You don't need food Nova, I told you to cut back and lose some damm weight." I nod looking down at my lap.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you."

He reaches out taking my chin and making me look him in the eyes. "It's okay babe, I'm just looking out for you okay?" He speaks softly and I nod agreeing to his words.

"Sorry I'm late Matthew, there was a problem I had to take care of." A man approaches our table smiling and extending his hand for Matt before his eyes land on me. "I didn't realize someone would be joining us."

Matt looks at me "she isn't," he says simply. "Go dance Nova." He tells me dismissing me.

Oh, I nod before leaving the table the man taking up my vacated spot. I don't want to dance so I go up to the bar.

"Can I get you anything?" The bartender asks me.

"No thank you." I say quietly he nods before moving on to other customers. Matt doesn't like when I drink.

I look over at the table where Matt and that guy are looking at an iPad discussing something, Matt smiles and nods at something the guy said before going back to the iPad.

Sighing I stand up, this club is boring and way too hot. I go out the back doors breathing in the cool fresh air that doesn't smell like sex and sweat.

Leaning against the wall I close my eyes enjoying the peace, I know Matt wouldn't like me being out here alone but I couldn't stand to be in there any longer.

"What're you doing out here all alone?" A voice calls from the shadows before stepping out into the street lights.

"It's too hot in there I can for some fresh air." My eyes never leave the mans as I calculate how fast I can open the door and run to Matt.

"You know there's been a lot of deaths around here recently it's not safe for you to be out here alone." The man says smiling.

"Oh, I'm not alone I'm with my boyfriend." I start to slowly back to the door reaching out behind me for the handle.

"I don't see him with you?" It's then I realize the mans holding something, I start to panic when he sees I've noticed the knife.

I grip the handle quickly pulling it open before I can run though the man grips my arm pressing the knife against my throat.

"Oh, you shouldn't have done that pretty girl." He caresses the knife down my cheek trailing it to my jaw I close my eyes tears silently falling.

I hear the gunshot ring through the buildings I scream when blood sprays hitting my face and the mans arm falls limp. I turn around to find his dead body splayed on the concrete.

"Nova, look what you did." I scream startled by Matt.

The man who was with him earlier now gone only Matt with his hands in his pockets as he watches me.

"What are you doing out here Nova? This isn't where I told you to go." I cower from his words.

"I'm sorry, it was too hot and you were busy." I twist around a bracelet on my wrist, a nervous habit I developed.

He doesn't say anything for a moment until a car pulls up to the curb. "Get in the car." He growls.

"What? Matt there's a dead man here!" He gives me a look telling as if saying no really?

"Car." He says before pulling out his phone and rapidly typing.

I reluctantly go to the car sliding into the passenger seat. I watch Matt wave the car away while talking into his phone.

I say nothing on the way back to Matt's house, I ignore everyone especially Matt's friends, Logan and Ethan.

Both guys talk quietly to each other before they notice me Logan smiles. "He's not very happy with you."

"I know." I whisper before turning up to the stairs and waking up to Matt's room. We've talked about moving in, but in the end Matt thought it'd be better if he had his own space.

I collapse onto his bed curling up into a ball waiting for him to get back.

His steps ring through the dark and quiet house, I know it's him I can always tell. He opens the door smiling, a crooked kind of smile he only wears occasionally.

"Hello Nova." His voice is as dark as night.

"I'm sorry." I whisper into the sheets.

"Oh I know babe, you didn't mean to kill him, you didn't mean to disobey me you wouldn't do that intentionally would you?"

"No." My answer is barley auditable but I know he heard it when his bottle of booze ends up on the wall. I scream when it shatters sending the amber liquid cascading down the walls.

"You lying bitch!" He yells. "You knew you weren't supposed to leave my side! What if it was someone so much worse out there waiting for you!?"

"I'm sorry Matt, it was too hot in there and you were busy. I should've told you, I'm sorry."

"Boss!" Someone knocks on the door shifting Matt's attention away from me.

"Come in." He says turning away from me and to one of his guards.

"It's Romano sir he-" the guard looks at me stopping mid sentence. Matt follows his gaze to me.

"Do you have work tomorrow?" He asks me.

"Yes." I reply quickly avoiding making him mad again.

"Go home, I'll pick you up after work and we'll go out okay?" I nod standing up and going into his embrace he kisses the top of my hair. "Love you," he says letting me go.

"Love you too." I smile lightly before walking outside the room and down the stairs. Ethan and Logan are talking about something in the kitchen when I pass by they don't even look up so whatever it is must be important.

I grab my keys before leaving the house and driving away.
