"
Happy Birthday my baby!!!" Khushi grabbed Murad in a bear hug and lifting him off his feet spinned him around as his giggles echoed throughout the living room. Then unable to handle his cuteness she was showering kisses on both his chubby cheeks.
"Cheee Phupi! No kissi!" He yelled wiping his cheeks vigorously.
Khushi laughed throwing her head back.
"But I like to kiss my buttercup." She said kissing him again annoying him more.
"Papaaaa!" He screeched annoyed jumping down from Khushi's arms and running to Rehan
"Papa scold her. She's always giving kissi!" He pouted.
"Aww....you're sho cute I want to kish you more!"
"Papaaaaaaaa!"
Rehan chuckled
"Khushi.... enough baccha!"
Everyone gave him his gifts and showered blessings on him. Then Murad, along with the twins cut the cake and had thier fun. However, the little boy's attention was at the door the whole time.
"What's wrong champ?!" Yasir asked as he was unable to click a good shot of him.
"Papa didn't bring my present." He pouted.
Rehan flinched but managed a smile.
"Of course I did. Look I brought you this car." Rehan said grinning and bringing front the remote control toy car which was as long as Murad's height.
"No! I don't want a car! I want my Mummy!"
The whole house went silent.
"Murad....baby...." Khushi tried to talk to him but he threw a fit.
"No! I want my Mummy. Papa is soo bad, he never brings my Mummy!" He yelled stamping his feet and ran to his room as Rehan watched him helplessly sinking on the couch with his head in his hands.
"Bhai..." Khushi sat beside her brother hugging him in the vain attempt to console him.
∆∆∆∆
Murad grabbed his MickyMouse bag and was stuffing some of the chocolates, snacks, water bottle and a pair of t-shirt and shorts and his underwear in it. He then put in a small notebook which had the numbers of all his family members in it and threw the bag over his shoulders, putting on his new shoes.
Walking towards the window he opened it and jumped down into the grass outside. He was used to playing like that as the bedroom was already on the ground floor.
If Papa won't bring my Mummy to me then I'm a big boy now. I'll find her myself!
Due to his compact height, he managed to sneak away from the sight of all the guards. He was an expert of hide and seek after all. Finally, in that late evening, he managed to run out of the gate and began his search in the huge city.
∆∆∆∆
"WHAT?!" Rehan's voice bombarded throughout the house as he grabbed one of his men by his neck choking the life out of him.
"A 6 year old boy managed to sneak out from right under your noses and you didn't even notice?! He's my son you bloody assholes!"
"Rehan.... Rehan beta leave him you'll kill him." Zarina panicked.
"I Should kill him Maa. I should kill all these good for nothing fiends. Our Murad has disappeared and they didn't even know!"
"B...b...bhai.... please....for... forgive me.... I...." His voice choked and his eyeballs turned backwards as Rehan increased his pressure. The other men were trembling too.
"Bhai please... we'll find him." Khushi said from behind and she sent the twins and Zarina into her room closing the door.
Rehan eventually released his grip and the man fell on his hands and knees, coughing and gasping for oxygen.
"All these men are nothing but worthless dogs!" He grunting kicking the man in his guts as he fell on his back and then without wasting a minute he pulled the gun out of the same man's holster and shot the other two men on thier knees.
"Now you all really are use less to me!"
Yasir leaped to snatch the gun from Rehan before he shot those men to death but Rehan, blinded in his rage placed the barrel of the gun on Yasir's forehead, but he didn't even flinch. However, Khushi felt her soul slipping out from her body and she ran to her brother throwing herself on his chest as she dragged him back still hugging him.
"Bhai please....stop.... please...."
"How can I?" His hand fell on his side helplessly.
"I'm going insane Khushi...." He pulled her away from him.
"... Murad....my son.... I cannot lose him!" He said moving both his hands through his hands frustrated as his breathing too became uneven and his voice became a broken whisper.
"I cannot lose him too."
∆∆∆∆
Always walk on the footpath... always look at your right and left... don't talk to strangers...
Remembering all this Murad continued walking like an one man army biting onto his chocolate bar. He had set out to look for his mother but the biggest problem was, he didn't even know what she looked like nor did he know any address. He just had a picture of a mansion in his other hand which he had once over heard his father say that was his mother's, so he had stolen it from his office.
He could see tall buildings and skyscrapers but not one house as such. He was completely lost but he wasn't ready to accept that and was hell bent on finding his Mummy afterall.
The sun was setting and a few people stopped in thier way seeing a little boy all alone and asked him where his parents were. He answered he was looking for his Mummy. They asked for a name, address, phone number but he said he knew nothing and kept walking ahead ignoring them. He showed them the picture of the house but no one knew about it either.
Someone even tried to inform the police but he sneaked away again.
It was getting dark now and he could hear the street dogs howling and barking, scaring him. Even the traffic on the roads had increased and the little boy wasn't used to crossing the roads...that too alone.
The signal fell red and hugging himself he observed how the people were crossing the roads. He was all alone and now he was getting scared, but being the brave boy he was, he stepped down the footpath and began crossing the road. He didn't realise why the people started running suddenly and it made his head spin with confusion. Tears streamed down his cheeks now as the car horn began bombarding around him, the head lights shining bright, making him squirm and cover his eyes and he felt frozen with fear as he stood all alone with all the huge cars speeding from beside him.
Just then a gentle yet firm embrace sweeped him off the ruckus and took him too safety. He didn't even realise it as his eyes were still closed while he kept crying.
"Murad... Murad.... don't cry.... don't cry beta.... Murad...."
A sweet voice implored to him and a pair of soft hands were wiping his tears. Murad opened his eyes sniffing and threw his arms around the familiar person's neck crying harder as he felt soo relived.
"Mummyyyyy.....mummy....."
Muskan was frozen to the core hearing Murad call her that. Did he found out?
Her shaky hands wrapped around his petit frame as she warmed up inside. The warmth she had been craving for the past 6 years, bringing tears to her eyes.
"Fairy aunty."
Her eyes shot open. So it was just a false hope.
"Murad....why are you here beta? Are you alone? Where is your Papa?" She asked sitting on her knees in front of him on the footpath
He hiccuped on his sobs with his runny nose that Muskan cleaned with her kerchief.
"Papa... won't b...bring my m...mummy so....so I came to....s..search for her..."
Muskan gasped and her heart clenched.
"Your.... mummy?"
He nodded.
"Everyone has a mummy....only I don't. Even Sarah and Saif have Phupi as thier mummy and she loves them soo much. She makes thier tiffin, combs thier hair, hugs and kisses them. Even in school all the children come with thier mummy and thier mummy loves them...she kisses them, hugs them...then why cannot my mummy do the same? Papa said she left us? Why? Am I that bad? Why did she hate me soo much? I always be a good boy.... I do my homework, eat my vegetables and don't spoil my room...then why doesn't she love me? Why doesn't she come to see me?"
Muskan just lost every self control she had on her and pulled her son in her arms crying harder and harder.
"I'm sorry..... I'm soo sorry my beta... I don't hate you.... you're my heart and my soul.... I love you soo much.... I'm soo sorry I left you....my Murad....my son.... please forgive me.... Murad.... I'm soo sorry... your mummy is soo sorry...." She cried out on his tiny chest .
Just then someone pulled him away from her arms scaring her and when she looked up...the ache in her chest intensified.
"What are you doing with my son?!" Rehan growled protectively picking him in his arms.
Muskan looked at him shocked and Murad laid his head on his father's shoulder.
"Rehan..."
"Don't! Did you try kidnap my son...did you try to take him away from me too?! How much can you hate me to make me suffer even more by even stealing my son from me Muskan!"
He yelled hugging Murad like he was his oxygen.
"I... I didn't... please... don't say that." Muskan tried to say through her tears still on her knees in front of him.
"Why? Then what do want with him? Do you want to hurt him?"
Muskan shook her desperately.
"N...never. He's my son too..."
"Shut up! Don't you dare say that! He's not your son. Stay away from him! He's only my son... that's what you said right? Now you have no right on him!" He warned sternly but the tears in his eyes showed how painful it was for him to say that.
Muskan watched him horrified.
"Let's go!" He announced to his men and turned to his heals with the heavy weight of his bleeding heart in his chest.
Suddenly, Muskan grabbed the hem of his jeans and Rehan froze like a rock.
"Please.... don't go.... I'm sorry.... Rehan.... please...." She was crying with her head down with guilt, fear, heartache....all those feelings had broken her completely.
"My son.... I.... please..." She didn't even know what to say because what she had done was unforgiving. She knew she didn't even deserve thier forgiveness for her selfishness yet, she wished he could understand her without words just like before. In her heart, he still resided after all. How could he not?
Rehan looked up to the skies letting out a shaky breath as he tried to stop his tears but failed miserably.
He loved her....he really did! But it was too unfair to his son. She left them all and maybe she would never stay again then what was the point of making thier son go through the same pain he himself was going through for soo long?
So he did the most cruel thing he thought he could do...he roughly pulled his leg back biting through the pain that resonated through his entire being and was walking away leaving her....his butterfly crying on the ground.
Murad silently watched her from his father's arms while they crossed the road going towards thier black car across the road, while she too watched them leave helplessly.
"Papa... fairy aunty is my mummy right?"
Rehan halted in his steps as the guard opened the door for him. Of course, his son witnessed the whole scene.
"No! She's not!" He said sternly.
Murad's face changed as he was almost about to cry.
"No! You're lying! She's my mummy!" He screamed and somehow managed to scramble out of his hold and blindly ran on the dangerous busy road to get to her.
"Murad!"
Rehan leaped after him, his heart on his sleeves but the cars kept coming in between slowing him down. Muskan heard Murad's voice from a distance and she turned her tired eyes on the road which widened in fear when she saw a van coming dangerously close to him. So without thinking twice she jumped on the road running towards him. The van closed in the distance...
"Murad! No!"
However, Muskan managed to push Murad back, alas, getting hit herself. Rehan watched in horror as her petite frame tumbled over the van and fell behind. The van pulled the brake but it was too late.
"MUSKAN!" He madly ran towards her and carefully lifted her bleeding head in his arms.
"Mu... Muskan.... Muskan!" He was trembling. The side of her head was bleeding and soo were her elbows and palms as she was physically in pain.
Her eyes flickered open and she saw him...only to close them again.
∆∆∆∆
The smell of medicines and clorine was what she perceived whilst gaining consciousness.
Her eyes flickered open and as she guessed, she really was in a hospital. There was no strength in her body as she tried to sit up.
"No no, just lie down."
A soft gasp escaped her lips as she saw Rehan hovering over her as he stood beside her holding both her shoulders. Then she remembered making her panic.
"Murad! Where...how ..."
Rehan gave her an assuring nod
"He's fine. When you pushed him, he took the fall on his bag so he didn't even get a scratch but you...." He gulped seeing her condition.
"....uh....you don't look that good."
"Where is he?"
"He was already taken home after he fell asleep. He was too tired."
"I see."
Both of them just kept staring at eachother until...
"What? You don't despise seeing my face anymore?" He said sarcastically.
She said nothing and tried to get up wincing and he unconsciously helped her sit up as he bent down holding her back and the back of her head. It was at that moment when thier eyes met and time stood still. He took a seat in the bed beside her and the closeness building up a familiar tension between them.
"I don't." She whispered but looked away again making him mad and he abruptly fisted her hair, not soo harshly yet it hurted because of her injury and he made her look at him.
"Look at me damnit!" He grunted.
"It hurts Rehan." Her voice was a whisper but it wouldn't be wrong to say that she didn't mide the pain as long as he was close to her.
"And what about the pain you gave all of us?! Me, my son, my sister, our Ma?!
Why are you here? After all this time that you completely disappeared... why again to cause all these problems? Up until now Murad had never made such a stubborn request. He even ran away from home to search for you. What if something would've happened to him?! And it would be all your fault."
Tears streamed down your her face drowning his anger along with them them.
"Why butterfly?" His begged in a voice was no louder than a whisper.
"Because.... I love you Rehan....you and our son..."
Rehan laughed without humour.
"Do you think you can love me while I have the same face of the person who murderer your parents?" He questioned as if spitting fire.
Muskan gazed into his eyes that reflected nothing but love and longing in them for her. Even though he was using such harsh words with her....the love in his eyes for her, he just couldn't hide it and it made her heart ache even more. It was a sin that she commited, leaving behind such a loving man and such a loving family who were truly a gift from Allah to her.
Her fingertips went to touch his face reflecting the same love along with guilt and self-loathing in her eyes.
"Because for me...this is the face of the man I love...no one else"
Rehan clenched his jaw.
"Why didn't you understand that sooner you fool!"
And he pulled her head to him as he still was gripping her hair and slammed his lips over hers forgetting everything else. She was surprised for a few seconds but soon was reciprocating to him with the same fervor.
6 damn years they had been longing for eachother. It wasn't something soo easy. By the time they broke the kiss, they're both panting like animals for oxygen.
"Can you really.... forget all that. .and accept me butterfly?" It was more of a request than a question.
"It's true that I was scared when I saw you...and deep inside I knew you were different by it was just my guilt that made me feel wrong to be happy with the family of the man who killed my parents. I thought, if I do so ...my parents might hate me. They might think I'm an ungrateful daughter. That's why.... even though it was killing me to stay away from everyone....from abandoning my son.... I did so... Yet now, I'm soo pathetic and shameless to come back after giving you soo much pain. I don't deserve you all...yet, I cannot live without you all either."
"Is that why you got married again...and even...had a daughter? And I just...." Rehan sighed frustrated gripping his hair remembering how he kissed her just a while ago.
Muskan shook her head holding his hand which out of habit they both entwined.
"Rehan.... I never remarried."
He looked at her shocked
"Then...that little girl?"
"That was my cousin Fiza's daughter. I'm soo sorry I said such a cruel lie."
"You really are cruel butterfly!" He scowled.
"Sorry." She looked down at his hand in hers squeezing it with her other hand too.
"I'm not the only one you need to apologise too."
She nodded guiltily.
"I know.... but will they ever forgive me? Especially, Khushi Didi?"
"We'll only know when you meet them."
∆∆∆∆
Muskan winced as she claimed the stairs to the threshold of the mansion as her ribs still hurted a little. After 6 years, she was finally stepping foot in the same house...no, her home. The home where she got soo much love, care and respect that she never could have even imagined. The home that was her haven.
She looked up at Rehan who was standing in front of her facing the door and his back turned towards her. The man who the Lord sent to her to change her life. He turned to her and smiled slightly.
"Welcome home."
Tears of joy brimmed in her eyes again as she returned his smile.
"I am really home."
As soon as they both entered in, Muskan shuddered seeing Khushi stand right in front of them with a not soo happy expression and all her words came rushing over Muskan again making her unable to even hold her head up. Rehan stood right beside her.
"Bhai move... please!"
"Khushi... she's hurt."
"I don't care! Move!" She walked towards the scared girl and rised her chin making her face herself.
"D...didi?" Muskan whispered scared remembering how she had warned her never to call her that.
"Are you really back?"
"Hmm." Her voice trembled.
"Can u promise me that you'll never leave?"
"Hmm." A lone tear slipped down her eye.
All of Khushi's anger drained off replacing with tears as she threw her arms around her sobbing on her shoulder.
"You stupid! Stupid girl!!! What took you soo long?!"
"I'm sorry Didi.... I'm soo sorry.... please forgive me.... Didi I love you soo much... please.... please don't hate ne Khushi Didi.... please..." She cried hugging her tight forgetting about her injuries.
"How can I? You're my cutie...my little sister!"
Yasir and Rehan were smiling behind them watching the girl's emotional reunion. Muskan noticed Yasir
"Yasir bhaijaan.... please forgive me..."
He walked forward patting her head like he used to.
"It's ok. I do....stop crying now...but aren't you forgetting someone?"
Muskan went to the room and her hands flew to her mouth seeing Zarina laying on the bed like that.
"M...ma?"
Zarina opened her eyes.
"Muskan? Is that my bacchi....my Muskan?" And when she finally looked at her there was no bounds to her hapiness as she weakly spread her arms for her trying to sit up.
"Meri bacchi!!! Meri Muskan!!!"
Muskan ran into her arms as both the woman cried thier hearts out onto eachother.
"Ma....wh...what happened to you? Why are you laying like this? Why are you soo weak?"
"Why did you have to leave like that? Didn't you miss your Ma, your Didi.... your husband, your son?" She was weakly hitting her back but again rubbing her back in caressing strokes.
"I'm sorry Ma...soo sorry...."
"You silly girl! Weren't you lovely too?"
"I was.... I was soo lonely without you all...but I don't want to be lonely anymore. Ma... I need you....ma...."
"My bacchi is back.... she's really back to us.... Alhamdulillah....oh Alhamdulillah!!!"
∆∆∆∆
Within a few weeks Zarina's condition began improving, something that didn't happen in the past six years. The happiness was back in the Mirza household and the only thing left was....
"Hang the lightings properly! Don't you dare mess the flower decor! Hurry up we don't have all day. I want everything to be perfect for my Brother's and My Cute's wedding!"
Khushi was ordering around with her hands on her hips.
"Mumma! Phupi!!!" The kids ran towards Muskan all dressed in cute sherwani and sharara while Murad was dresses in a miniature version of his father's sherwani.
"Awww....my babies look soo cute! Let's click a lot of pictures!" Khushi was swooning.
"Ahem...you can look at me to you know." Yasir came from behind the kids.
"Oh, you look good too!" Khushi stated casually hardly looking at him as she was busy fawning over the cuties in front of her.
Yasir's jaw dropped and it won't be wrong to say he was burning with jealousy. So he walked towards her and pulled her by her waist from behind.
"But you look too gorgeous to be ignored my Jaan. What's say, there doesn't need to be just one wedding night you know." He whispered in close to her ear making her gasp.
"Baby, the kids are watching." She whispered back a bit embarrassed.
He groaned in her ear
"Damn Jaan! You haven't called me that in a while. Now I really can't wait any longer. Make sure to get some beauty sleep during the day...coz u ain't getting any tonight." He gave her a sexy warning making her gulp and just left.
"That wicked husband of mine!" She muttered to herself.
"Mummy... mummy.... where's the bride?" Sarah questioned rocking cutely from side to side.
"Let's go see her! Murad! Let's go to your mummy!"
"Yaay...my Mummy!"
∆∆∆∆
Muskan was ready in her lehenga for her Nikah. Although it was her second time getting married, but this time it was even more special as she could actually see everything herself.
"Wow! The bride!" Both the twins said in unison running towards her.
Muskan smiled seeing them.
"Sarah...Saif...oh you look soo adorable!"
"Mummy! I want to be a bride too."
At this Khushi's smile vanished.
"My Sarah will be a bride someday too. She'll get married and leave me too?! No!!!" Khushi yelled dramatically only to receive a slap on her back from Zarina.
"Soo much overacting! When will you grow up?"
"But Ma... my cute daughter! Look at her!" She poured hugging both her kids as they giggled.
Muskan looked at Murad who was watching her from a distance.
"Murad....why are you standing there. Come to Mummy?" Her heart felt soo heavy as she said that.
At this Murad grinned and ran into her arms hugging her tight
"Mummy....you won't leave me again na?"
Her eyes watered.
"Never ever again. I promise." She kissed his cheek.
"I love you mummy!"
Muskan gasped.
"I love you too my son...soo much... I love you!"
∆∆∆∆
Rehan waited for his bride in the room. After 6 years she'd finally be in his arms. How he had waited for this moment! It was truly a test for them both, being apart like that and finally it was all over.
The door opened making his heart skip a beat, revealing his hoor. Her shy gaze were on the ground as Khushi helped her in.
"All the best you two! Bhai, be easy on our cutie ok." She winked and left giggling seeing her brother shyly scratch his nape.
Rehan went to lock in the door and coming back got down on his knees in front of his wife taking out his hand for her.
"My butterfly!"
Her tears fell over his palm before her hand.
"My Rehan."
He got up and pulled her into his arms as they hugged eachother as if they needed eachother to breath.
"Promise me this is forever." He said
"I promise."
He got back gazing into her sparkling emerald orbs, drinking in her heavenly features and fawning over her plump lips. How he wanted to claim them! But he also wanted to take it slow.
He walked towards the bed and sat on it patting beside him.
"Come... sit with me butterfly."
She smiled too going towards him. However, she just stood in front of him and took off her dupatta discarding it in the floor and before he could even comprehend, she pushed him back on the bed by his shoulders and got on top of him startling him.
"Uhm.... butterfly?"
"I know I look beautiful and you look soo handsome I could die, yes, I've been hearing and saying that all day. Now can we just forget the formalities and skip to the good part?!" She said with a desperate need and eagerness in her voice making his jaw hanging.
"Huh?"
She smiled pushing her tongue into his open mouth giving him a slow sensual kiss as he found himself reciprocating soon enough. By the time they broke for air, he was laughing like an idiot making her pout.
"Look who's become soo brave!"
She stepped down to remove her heavy ghaghara and laid back beside him.
"I've waited to long to be shy and patient."
He pecked her nose and got on his knees sexily pealing off his sherwani making her breath unsteady.
"Aren't you going to turn off the lights?"
He smirked.
"Nope! You aren't the only one waiting. I want you to see what I've been saving for you all this time." He winked.
"Ya Allah!"
(A/N- I wonder why she screamed at the end though? 🙈)
