Part: 46 Relieved
As Dan walked out of the room, Andrew hastily called Mike.
"Yes, Boss," Mike answered immediately.
"Mike, send a few men to follow Chloe and protect her. She's just left the mansion. Also, come meet me in the secret room," Andrew ordered Mike as soon as he answered the call.
"Understood, Boss."
Andrew hung up and rushed toward the hidden room behind the bookshelf in his study. It was a place only he and Mike knew about.
Moments later, Mike stepped into the secret room and found Andrew sitting in a chair, his head lowered, and eyes fixed on the floor in deep thought.
"I trust you, Sunshine," Andrew muttered under his breath, lost in his thoughts.
'I know you're going through so much pain, but you're still standing strong. I can't believe Uncle Dan is truly evil. He was like a father to me. I thought he cared, but I was wrong. He only ever saw me as a tool for profit, nothing more. He made me the mafia boss just for his gain. If it were only about hurting me, maybe—just maybe—I could have considered forgiving him. But now, he has hurt Chloe. He hurt my Sunshine. I won't let that go. I'll make him pay for every tear, for every wound. He'll suffer until his last breath, begging me to end his life.'
Andrew's eyes darkened with determination. 'But first, I need to free Zia, Chloe's aunt. I had to send Chloe away for her safety. I need to protect Zia, or Chloe will never forgive herself. I'll make everything right, Sunshine, and I'll bring you back to me.'
"Is everything alright, Boss?" Mike asked, worried as he approached.
Andrew blinked, snapping back to the present. A tear rolled down his cheek. "Mike..." his voice cracked, and more tears followed.
"What happened, Boss? Did something happen between you and Chloe?" Mike asked anxiously.
Andrew stood up, his shoulders shaking. "Mike, it's Dan—no, I don't even want to call him Uncle. He's a bastard. He never cared about me. He hurt my Sunshine behind my back, and she endured his torture because he kidnapped her Aunt Zia."
Mike's eyes widened in shock. "I can't believe this, Boss."
Andrew took a deep breath, wiping away his tears as he composed himself. "We don't have time, Mike. We need to find Zia as soon as possible. Dan is dangerous, and we know what he's capable of. Chloe isn't safe as long as Zia is in his hands. Dan shouldn't come to know we're onto him."
"Boss, I'm going to kill that bastard," Mike roared with rage.
"Not yet, Mike," Andrew replied, his jaw clenched. "I want to make him suffer. He's going to pay for hurting Chloe and betraying me. But first, we have to find Zia."
With that, Andrew set his men on a mission to find Zia. He then called one of the men following Chloe.
"Where is Chloe? Are you keeping an eye on her?" He asked, concerned for her. Only he knew how hard it was to stop himself from rushing to her and holding her in his arms. He was dying to kill Dan for hurting his Sunshine. Zia meant nothing to him, but he was still searching for her—for his Sunshine. He could do anything for her. He loved her more than anything.
"Boss, she's back at her mansion. We're watching from the car outside," his man reported.
"Good. Inform me immediately if anyone comes to meet her."
"Will do, Boss."
Andrew ended the call and turned back to his plan to locate Zia. He had discovered that some men within his mansion were working for Dan. He secretly abducted two of Dan's men and brought them to the hidden room for interrogation.
They were bound to the chairs, bleeding. Andrew and Mike were relentlessly beating them with a rod for betraying him, demanding to know Zia's whereabouts. However, they kept insisting they didn't know. But Andrew was convinced they were lying.
"I'm asking you both for the last time—where has Dan kept Zia? After this, I'll start cutting off your fingers, one by one." Andrew's voice thundered with rage. He was going insane. His Sunshine was suffering alone, and he was powerless to act because of these traitors.
The two men exchanged fearful glances, a flicker of guilt visible in their eyes—something Andrew didn't miss.
"W-we don't know, Boss," one of the men stuttered.
"You've just lost the chance to save your fingers." Andrew sneered.
"Mike, bring the cutter," Andrew ordered, his voice ice-cold. The men began to shake in fear.
"Boss, please forgive us." One of them cried out frantically. "We didn't want to work for Dan, but he threatened our families. That's the only reason we agreed to work for him. We were only feeding him information from here. We don't know anything about Zia. Please believe us!"
Andrew's expression softened, though his eyes were still filled with anger. "I know you know something about Zia. If you tell me where he's keeping her, I'll forgive you both. I beg you—just tell me." Andrew now begged them to tell him if they knew anything.
Mike's eyes moistened as he watched his boss, the Mafia leader who had never begged before, now pleading for his Sunshine's safety. But the men remained silent, unmoved.
Andrew closed his eyes in defeat, and tears slipped down his cheeks without his permission.
Just then, his phone rang in his pocket. Opening his eyes, he answered it quickly. "Hello."
"Boss, Dan just arrived at Chloe's mansion," his man informed him, and his eyes darkened.
"Fuck, I'm going to kill that bastard. Stay out of it. I'm on my way." He disconnected the call.
Andrew instructed, "Mike, we don't have time. Chloe is in danger; he could do anything to her. I have to go protect her. Mike, you need to find Zia as soon as possible."
"Boss, you go and protect Chloe. I'll handle everything here and find Zia," Mike assured him.
Andrew nodded before rushing out of the room.
***
In no time, Andrew reached Chloe's mansion. With his men following closely, he searched the place frantically, his heart pounding in fear. Dan could be capable of anything, and the thought terrified him.
He reached the terrace, and his eyes widened in shock. His heart nearly stopped when he saw Dan torturing his Sunshine. Without thinking, Andrew raised his rifle and shot Dan in the leg.
Dan screamed in agony as the bullet tore through his flesh. Chloe spun around, her teary eyes widening in relief. A soft smile of hope flickered across her face as she saw Andrew standing there, rifle in hand. His eyes blazed with hatred as he stared at Dan, who collapsed to the ground, clutching his leg in pain.
Andrew's gaze shifted to Chloe. His heart broke at the sight of her bruised face, and tears welled up in his eyes.
Before he could say anything, Chloe ran to him, threw her arms around his neck and buried her face in his shoulder. He wrapped her in his arms, holding her tightly, as if he would never let her go again. He had been yearning for this moment, to hold her and tell her how much he loved her and how deeply he trusted her. Tears spilt from his eyes as he squeezed them shut.
"I thought," she sobbed, "you didn't have faith in our love." She sobbed again, holding him tighter, clutching his blazer and pulling him closer, as if she wanted to bury herself in him completely.
Andrew held her even tighter. "I love you, Sunshine. I have complete faith in you. I'm sorry for making you feel this way," he said, caressing her hair and kissing her cheek.
"I love you, Andrew. I love you," she confessed, crying deeply in his arms.
But their suffering wasn't over yet, as they still didn't know where Zia was.
