Part: 19 Attacked

Andrew hurriedly pushed Chloe away without caring about his life, and luckily, the bullet just grazed his arm.

Chloe's eyes widened in shock, and she screamed, "Andrew!"

Then her eyes fell on the shooter who was still pointing the gun at her. She glared at him, hastily picked up a stone, and hurled it at him. The stone hit his forehead, rendering him unconscious.

His men dashed into the garden after hearing the gunshots. People were screaming and scurrying out of the garden to save their lives.

Chloe rushed to Andrew. He swiftly grasped her arm and made her stand behind him before firing at the goons who were about to attack her. He protected her again. She stood behind him, anxiously staring at the injured arm, with blood oozing from it.

His men also started firing at the goons. Andrew grasped Chloe's hand and led her behind a pillar, shooting at the goons.

"Take her to a safe place. I'm coming," he instructed one of his men as they stood behind the pillar.

She frowned at Andrew, thinking, 'What? No! I can't leave him like this. He has just been shot.'

"Andrew, you're coming with us. You're injured," she ordered him, anxious for him.

"I'm fine, Chloe," he reassured her.

"Then I'm also not going." She stated in a stern tone, and he scowled at her.

"Chloe, this is not the time to argue." He tried to make her understand. There were goons all around, firing at them, and they were busy arguing with each other.

"That's what I'm saying, Andrew. You're coming with us. You're bleeding profusely; you need treatment." She pointed at his bleeding arm, her eyes filled with genuine concern for him.

"Okay, fine, let's go," he agreed reluctantly because he knew she wouldn't listen to him. She was a stubborn woman.

"Give me the gun, I'll cover you." She held out her hand in front of him, causing his eyes to widen in shock.

"Are you crazy?" He freaked out.

"I'm good at shooting. Trust me," she reassured him.

"But you're not my bodyguard. Now just shut up," he shouted at her.

She snatched the gun from his man and instantly fired at the goon who was about to shoot them after coming from behind the pillar. She impressed Andrew with her skills. He just stared at her in amazement. This woman was something else for him, and he liked her more and more—her fearlessness, her carefree attitude, and the way she fought with the goons. She was perfect for the Mafia Boss Andrew as if God had made her for him alone.

She smiled at him with triumph and uttered, "Now let's go." He gave her a slight nod.

They were sprinting to the car, two men covering them. They were also firing at the goons who were shooting at them. Neither of them was protecting themselves; they were protecting each other because they cared for each other more than they cared for themselves.

They finally reached the car. Andrew opened the door, and Chloe hastily settled inside. Her brows raised in shock when he shut the door and locked it, standing outside. She glared at him through the window, beating the glass in fury.

"Cheater!" She barked at him, bristling with anger.

Andrew gestured to his trained driver to take Chloe to the safe house. She stared at him, her eyes filled with profound anger.

"I know, Chloe, you can fight with the goons, but I can't put your life at risk because of me. If something happens to you because of me, I'll never be able to forgive myself," he thought, watching her car as it drove away. He kept looking until the car disappeared from his sight.

After sending her off with the trained driver and one man, he called Mike and asked him to come with more men.

Chloe paced across the room of Andrew's safe house, restless. She was both angry and apprehensive.

"He tricked me. How dare he? What does he think—that I can't protect myself, that I'm weak?" She muttered, continuing to roam across the room. She was extremely upset with him for sending her here alone by tricking her.

After some time, Andrew arrived, and as soon as she saw him, she rushed to him and hugged him, encircling her arms around his neck, and standing on her toes. She was so relieved and grateful to see him safe, and a smile flashed across her face. She pulled him closer, hugging him firmly. He slowly raised his hands and embraced her in his warm arms. For a few seconds, they both forgot about the entire world, lost in each other's arms, their lips drawn up in blissful smiles.

"Thank God, you're safe," she whispered after breaking the hug, placing thousands of soft kisses all over his face. He was profoundly amazed to see how much she cared for him.

"Chloe, I'm fine." His words brought her back to reality, and her smile faded into a frown.

She glared at him and punched him hard in the face. His men, who were present in the room, instantly pointed their guns at her.

"How dare you, Mr. Anderson?" She growled at him, fuming with anger. Andrew gestured for his men to lower their guns. "You think I'm weak, that I can't fight, that I can't protect myself, so you sent me here?" She demanded, grabbing his collar.

He clasped her face. "You are the bravest and strongest woman I have ever met, and I know you can fight for yourself. I sent you here because I wanted to protect you, not because you can't protect yourself. I sent you here because you were in danger because of me, and no matter what, I'll always do this to protect you." He stated this while gazing deeply into her eyes, silencing the badass girl. She slowly let go of his collar and lost herself in his intense eyes, which were filled with immense love.
