35: The Betrayal

It was eerily quiet that night in the fraternity house. All Mad KingZ members were in the living room including Sandra. They were having an emergency meeting.

Regarding Ted. And to what has happened to him.

Kidrey was sitting seriously in the same red accent chair in the middle of the living room. The fire dancing from the fireplace already added to the diabolic effect behind his back. Kidrey's fingers were clasped together in front of his chin, thinking, while wearing a dangerous expression on his face. If a gaze could kill, everyone would be dead by now because of how sharp Kidrey's looks were. The Mad KingZ's leader is mad.

TOP, Jon, Mateo, and Sandra were sitting around him, too. They were waiting for whatever Kidrey had to say.

"How's Theodore?" Kidrey asked after a while, addressed particularly to no one.

Everybody tensed.

"He's in a coma. Already stable in ICU but in a coma." Jon answered, seriously.

Sandra was quiet. Her heart beating fast at the topic but she remained listening to the gang.

"Who could do this to Ted?" Mateo asked, a voice full of emotions. He tried his best not to tear up again.

TOP gritted his teeth. "There is only one group in my mind that has a grudge against us."

Sandra looked at him.

"CODE." Jon gritted the name. He then fisted his hands. "CODE is taking revenge from the last fight we had with them."

Mateo sniffed his tears. "Bunch of pussies! Took out Ted when he was alone and helpless!" He was angry too. "And on the school premises, too!"

"What shall we do, God?" TOP asked the quiet Kidrey.

Sandra looked at Kidrey this time. The danger in his eyes promises revenge for what has happened to his comrade. The fire dancing behind him makes him more intimidating to anyone like a diabolic creature ready to pass judgment to his enemies.

CODE won't survive this round. That's what Sandra thought.

"We will retaliate," Kidrey stated, danger in his voice.

Everybody stood up. Readying for the upcoming fight.

---

A knock on her door made Sandra cut from her thoughts. She looked up as the door opened.

It's Kidrey.

She stood up right away. "Are we leaving?" She asked him.

Kidrey looked at her eyes first before checking her from head to toe. She is ready to go, even dressed in all-black. He noticed what was in her hand.

"Black Cat mask? How cliche." Kidrey stated, a small smile on his lips. His first smile today after learning what has happened to Ted. The mask brought back memories.

Sandra just smiled back as she sat again then tapped the bed she was sitting on, inviting him in. Kidrey walked to sit beside her there. She then leaned her head on his shoulder.

Kidrey automatically planted a soft kiss on her head. "I don't think you should come with us." He said after a moment of silence between them. The reason why he wanted to see her before they left.

Sandra looked at him. Even cocking an eyebrow at Kidrey. "Why not?"

Kidrey sighed. "I don't want you hurt."

Sandra didn't say anything after that for a while. She just squeezed Kidrey's hand. Her heart beat slowly, almost feeling comfortable with his presence. "I'll be fine. Don't worry." She whispered after. "I'll wait in the getaway car instead if it makes you feel better."

Kidrey looked at her, studying her face. "You won't do anything I say even if I told you not to go, right?" It was not a question but a statement.

Sandra smirked as she kissed Kidrey on the cheek. "I'll be careful, darling." She said this while thinking of another thing, 'I also want to see how Mad KingZ gets hurt by this pointless fight, too.' her subconscious mind agreed.

Kidrey sighed. "This is no game, Dar. It's dangerous and you might seriously get hurt after." He insisted.

Sandra shrugged her shoulders as she stood up now, cocking her head at him. "I think you know by now how stubborn I can be." She then put on her black cat mask. "Like I said, don't worry. I have nine lives, too."

Kidrey just shook his head at her but he didn't say anything again. He knew her by now how stubborn she can be so there's no point pushing her not to come. He will just have to keep her safe and away from the chaos that's gonna happen later.

They were by the door now when Sandra stopped him by the arm. This thought has been bothering her for a while now.

"What?" Kidrey asked her, reaching for her hand and intertwining it with his.

Behind her mask, Sandra's face was worried. "What if...what has happened to Ted is not caused by CODE? What if you were wrong?"

Kidrey's hold on her hands tightened at that. Too tight that Sandra knew Kidrey was getting angry at the memory.

Kidrey then hissed dangerously, "Regardless if CODE did it or not, that person will still pay for what he did. I won't take no mercy." he continued walking away.

Sandra got chills from what Kidrey had said, as she followed him quietly.

--

Because of Mateo's intelligence and special connections, it was easy to locate CODE's current location.

CODE fraternity gang was gathering in this abandoned warehouse near the city wharf. Whatever they were doing there, Sandra was sure they were up to no good.

But also, Sandra is truly not sure what Mad KingZ's plan is for tonight.

'They are men, darling. They don't think.' Her subconscious hissed. Seemingly satisfied with whatever's happening. 'Men are mindless muscles. Watch.'

Sandra clicked her tongue as she watched Mad KingZ getting ready to get inside the building. They were parked behind a tree with her waiting in the car.

Her subconscious mind might be right about this one. It seemed Mad KingZ had no plan to 'talk' to CODE about what had happened to Ted. If she has a guess, Mad KingZ will go straight to the rival gang, unafraid, and would be the one to throw the punch first.

The men are blinded by emotions right now for what has happened to Ted...which unbeknownst to them, was caused by her. Mad KingZ members didn't entertain the idea that there might be someone else apart from CODE that would harm one of their comrades. They were quick to blame the rival gang instead.

'Bunch of fools.' Sandra thought as she watched Kidrey going in her direction. She was sitting in the driver's seat, in charge of the getaway in case cops would come.

"Stay low and be sure not to be seen," Kidrey told her when he was in front of her.

Sandra nodded behind her mask.

Kidrey still looked worried as he looked at her. He then carefully lifted her mask and swiftly gave her a deep kiss on the lips. The kiss felt so emotional from him. Like promising her many things. That includes keeping her safe tonight.

Sandra felt punched in the throat after the kiss. Suddenly, she felt so guilty. Kidrey turned away his back from her but she quickly stopped him by holding his hand.

"Don't get hurt." Sandra said, worriedly. "Come back to me unharmed."

Kidrey smirked as he pulled down the black cat mask on her face. "I'll be fine. I've never been hurt seriously before from a fight. I'm God of Death, remember?" He turned his back again and walked towards his waiting members.

Sandra's heart was beating erratically while watching Kidrey. She couldn't help but feel like she was sentencing him to death even if he was...innocent of everything at it.

When all of them were about to enter the door to the warehouse, Sandra saw something shining at the back of TOP's pants. She squinted her eyes and got worried instantly recognizing what it was. TOP brought a gun.

Sandra swallowed the lump in her throat as she unbuckled her seat belt right away and quietly followed Mad KingZ inside. She was being careful not to be seen by anyone. Why, but knowing TOP brought a gun to the fight made her worried for everyone.

Both gangs should not be fighting over what has happened to Ted, she knew it, yet, she's allowing it. It also seemed like the two gangs have been fighting for a long time now and any logical thinking would be impossible to decipher between the two.

Kidrey left his cell phone to her so Sandra alerted the police even before this fight could turn so serious and deadly.

Her heart was beating so fast as she entered the abandoned warehouse and hid behind a pile of cargo bins, trying her best not to be seen by anyone.

Sandra saw the two gangs from where she was.

'So, that's CODE.' Sandra thought as she watched the rival gang being surprised by Mad KingZ's sudden arrival. Most of the members were wearing black ski masks except for the leader who was sitting in one of the drums there. The leader was smoking as he glared at the uninvited Mad KingZ coming into his warehouse.

"My, my, what makes Mad KingZ come here at this hour?" The leader asked, sarcastically. "I don't remember any business from you of why you came here."

"Drop the pretense, Psyke!" Mateo yelled at him. "You will pay for what you did to Ted, you coward!"

Psyke laughed out loud hearing that. "My, my, I've heard about what happened to that rat but I didn't think Mad KingZ are a bunch of pussies to come here blaming us for someone else's doing?" He wondered. "My, my, Mad KingZ has more enemies to watch out for then."

Psyke signaled his men to get ready. "But since you came here already, it would be rude not to show you our greetings."

And on cue, CODE attacked the intruders.

Sandra bit her lips at the sight. Mad KingZ is outnumbered by CODE but her fraternity members can hold their fight easily.

This was the first time Sandra saw them in action and fighting with another gang so she didn't know what to feel exactly. Her anxiety was rising as she was holding her breath to what was unfolding be forth her eyes.

Her eyes were following Kidrey constantly as she saw how the leader of Mad KingZ could easily knock down two or three people at once. The animalistic approach of Kidrey makes his enemies cower a bit when facing him.

This is why Kidrey is called the God of Death. He is merciless and his blood lust is apparent and obvious while breaking his enemy's bones. Anyone would think twice in facing him fist to fist.

Sandra was anxious and tapping her feet as she waited for the cops to arrive and for the fight to be over.

Sandra is afraid that when worst comes to worst someone will die...and it will be her conscience to bear. She created this.

'Puhlease. You almost killed Ted.' Sandra ignored what her subconscious mind reminded her as her eyes widened when Psyke, CODE's leader, pulled out a gun.

But TOP was quick to pull out his gun to Psyke, as well.

The fight momentarily stopped because of that. Everybody becomes tense. When guns are involved, the direction of the fight suddenly changes.

"Never again, bitch." TOP hissed, talking about the last time when CODE brought their gun at the last fight before this.

Then TOP didn't hesitate to pull the trigger and shot one of the CODE's members in a ski mask without a warning. TOP shot him in the shoulder.

Screams were heard in the warehouse.

Sandra could tell that the rest of the Mad KingZ members were taken aback by what TOP had done. Even Kidrey. Kidrey didn't expect TOP would bring the gun as well.

The one TOP shot was still screaming in pain as he was trying to stop more blood from coming out from his shoulders. His shirts were drenched in blood already. He then pulled out his mask to breathe more air as he was huffing continuously. His face was pale as he looked at his wounds.

So did Sandra. The color on her face drained right after seeing who was behind the mask.

P.O.

She was shaking by then. P.O Bash.

Without thinking twice, Sandra stepped out from where she was hiding and ran towards P.O.

"Oh God, P.O. Oh God," Sandra uttered repeatedly, panicking as she helped him put pressure on his shoulder. She pulled out her mask and she stopped the blood continuously flowing from where he had been shot at.

Psyke was mad at this as he yelped out loud for his men to attack Mad KingZ.

"Go after them!" Psyke yelled out loud as he pulled the trigger of his gun and aimed it at TOP who quickly dodged the bullet.

TOP then fired back but missed hitting Psyke. Most of his members ran away after the crossfires.

Sandra barely saw when four men launched at Kidrey at once and knocked and kicked him in the ribs multiple times. Kidrey seemed to have stopped fighting, didn't even struggle, as he watched Sandra tending to one of his enemies.

The betrayal Kidrey felt was evident in his eyes. He didn't mind the kicks he was receiving as the hurt looks in his eyes while watching Sandra were more noticeable. And she saw it all.

TOP and the others have helped Kidrey get up and leave the place quickly, especially when the cop's sirens were closing in.

Before Sandra could react anymore to that, one of the CODE members helped her stand up and carried the wounded P.O. to one of the cars there. Then the car sped away.

The events were so quick that Sandra had no time to react. The passed-out P.O. was beside her as they drove him to the nearest hospital.

Sandra was staring at the blood on her hands, shaking. She has done this.

While Kidrey's hurt looks haunted her.
