Chapter 33: The Chapter Part Two
Madison Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Chapter 33: The Chapter Part Two
All around us, black shapes were emerging out of thin air- which, according to magical rules, can only happen if you apperate. Eyes glinted through the slits in their hoods. A dozen wands were lit up and pointed directly at our chests.
"To me, Potters," Lucius Malfoy repeated.
"Where's Sirius?" Harry bluntly asked.
Some of the Death Eaters laughed.
From the midst of them all, a harsh and cold female laugh erupted. The lady said, "The Dark Lord always knows!"
"Always," Malfoy echoed. "Now give me the prophecy, Potters!"
"We want to know where Sirius is!"
"We want to know where Sirius is!" mocked the woman.
Fear rose in my chest. "You've got him," I announced.
What if he wasn't here though?
"He's here. I know he is," Harry finished.
"The little babies woke up fwightened and fort what it dweamed was twoo," the woman said in a rather bad mock-baby voice. She would not be a good actress.
"Don't do anything," Harry muttered.
"Not yet," I finished.
"You hear them? You hear them? Giving instructions to the others as though they think of fighting us!"
"Oh, you don't know Harry an Madison Potter as I do, Bellatrix," Lucius softly said. "They have a great weakness for heroics; the Dark Lord knows that. Now give me the prophecy!"
"I know Sirius is here!" Harry said.
"It's time you learned the difference between life and dreams, Potters. Now give me the prophecy or we start using wands."
"Go on then!"
Harry and I raised our wands, as did Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginnh and Luna.
"Hand over the prophecy and no one gets hurt."
I laughed. "Yeah, right! We give you this prophecy, and you'll let us skip home like school children, will you"
The female Death Eater shrieked, "Accio Proph-"
"Protego!"
"Oh, she knows how to play, little Potters. Very well then..."
"I TOLD YOU NO! If you smash it-"
My mind was racing. The Death Eaters wanted this spear; I didn't. I just wanted everybody to get out alive.
Bellatrix Lestrange pulled down her hood; Azkaban had hollowed her face. It was gaunt and skull-like.
"You need persuasion? Take the smallest two. We torture them. He'll watch."
My face went ashen. Out of us all, Ginny and I were the smallest.
My brother raced in front of us to protect us.
"I don't think your boss would be to pleased to have you come back without it, don't you?"
"What is it anyway? Why does Voldemort want it?" I asked.
"Shut your mouth! You date speak his name with your unworthy lips, with your half-blood tongue?"
"Did you know that he's a half-blood too?" Harry recklessly protected me. "Voldemort? Yeah, his mother was a witch, but his dad was a muggle. Or has he been telling you lot he's a pureblood?"
"STUPEF-"
"NO!"
Malfoy deflected Bellatrix's spell.
"DO NOT ATTACK! WE NEED THW PROPHECY! WAIT UNTIL WE'VE GOT THE PROPHECY!"
"What's so special about it?" I asked.
"Dumbledore never told you that the reason you two bear those scars was hidden in the bowels of the Department of Mysteries?"
Oh my God.
"Dumbledore never told you?"
"He doesn't tell us a lot of things!" I exclaimed.
"Haven't you wondered why the Dark Lord tried to kill you both as a baby?"
"Somebody made a prophecy about us?"
"Yes, he did-"
"NOW!" Harry yelled.
Fighting. Flashes of light.
Harry and I stuck together at all times, fighting back to back.
We had cuts and bruises on us; they stung horribly.
Minutes later, I heard Ron giggle- he was but be a spell.
"Harry, we saw Uranus up close! Get it, Harry? We saw Uranus- ha ha ha-"
Bellatrix's high voice came to my ears. That bitch.
"Potters, your race is run. Now hand me the prophecy like good children..."
"Let everybody else go and we'll give it to you!" I screamed desperately.
Above us, suddenly, was Sirius, Lupin, Moody, Tonks and Kingsley.
More and more fighting pursued.
"Harry! Madison! Take the prophecy, grab Neville and run!" Sirius exclaimed, dashing towards Bellatrix.
I saw Sirius and Bellatrix dueling.
"Come on, you can do better than that!" Sirius taunted as he ducked under his cousins jet of red light.
The second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest.
The laughter had not quiet died from his face, but his eyes widened in shock.
I heard silence.
It took Sirius ages to fall, it seemed. He soon reached the arch.
He was dead.
Lupin was restraining Harry, who was trying to get him.
"I'm going to go save him," I told my brother and godfather.
"Madison! No!" Harry screamed.
"I love you, Harry," I told him sadly.
I have to save Sirius...
With one last apologetic look at my older twin brother, I jumped.
I fell into The Veil.
