Chapter 21
Months later....
Chara was asleep. It was in the midst of February, the air outside shivering in the crisp wintery air. Chara awoke, and sat up with a yawn and a stretch. She noticed an assortment of items on her end table.
A card and a dark pink heart shared box, with a bright red expertly tied bow keeping it shut. There was a little post-it note with a heart candy on it.
Hey Chara! Read the card, and open the box! Happy Valentine's Day~! ❤️
~Frisk
Chara sighed, but couldn't help but smile.
Of course Frisk did this. The cheesy little shit.
Chara grabbed the box first, as it intrigued her. She wanted to save the card for last. She pulled on one part of the bow, and it easily undid itself. She took it off, and opened the box.
An assortment of chocolates, dark and milk, as well as fudge. There was a post-it note on the inside.
No white chocolate. I know your stance on the fact that it isn't a real chocolate. ❤️
~Frisk
Chara smiled a little wider. It took most of her self control to close the box to save the chocolate for later.
...Immediately after breakfast.
She grabbed the card, excited and yet nervous on its contents. On the front, it was a cutesy little design. It was hand drawn. Two bright red hearts in the center, surrounded by hearts of six different colors. Orange, light blue, dark blue, purple, and yellow. In an attempt at cursive, 'Happy Valentine's Day' was written in red at the top, two golden flowers beside it. Chara opened it.
To the best girlfriend someone could possibly have-No matter the mistakes.
~Frisk
There were red hearts and golden flowers drawn around those simple yet meaningful twelve words. Chara held the card for a second. She was speechless. She then noticed some writing on the back of the card.
Meet me outside the house under the closest tree to the house. Xoxo
Chara set the card down where it was, and she went downstairs with the heart box. She set it on the table. "If you touch this, I'll strangle you." Chara said jokingly, but still serious about the part of not wanting anyone to touch it. Asriel was on the couch, and he grinned.
"Alright. Have fun~" He sang. Chara raised an eyebrow, and went outside. Frisk was right where he asked Chara to meet him. Chara approached him.
"Hey." Chara greeted, smiling. Frisk smiled as well.
"I see you got the gifts." Frisk remarked. Chara nodded.
"Thank you, by the way. You do realize those chocolates will be gone by noon, right?" Chara asked with a sneaky grin. Frisk laughed a little.
"Well, I have one more gift." Frisk told her. He pulled something out.
It was a heart locket.
It was golden, and it could open up. Inside was a picture of Chara, Frisk, and Asriel, all smiling.
"I know you lost the one Asriel gave you, and... I wanted to give you a more modern one." Frisk was smiling wide. Chara was silent, wide eyed. She took the pendent in her hands, examining it, looking it over. The metal was cold from being outside, and it was smoothed. The outside locket had something etched into it.
Determination.
Chara smiled, and she kissed Frisk, and Frisk returned the favor.
No longer was Chara made of L.O.V.E. But she'd found something that would never let herself lose.
Love.
