TRICKED AND TRAPPED
Chapter: Eighteen.
********
"What the fuck man?!" Sebastien screamed as soon as he ran into the old farmhouse, his phone in one hand and a crumpled up piece of paper in the other.
"Finally you came!" Jon called excitedly while jumping down from a tall stack of hays to meet his best friend.
"Whatever you have to say better be fucking worth it because I am grounded and my father will throw a fit if he found out I sunk out!" Sebastien sat down on a dusty bench that looked as if it hadn't been sat on in ages and stared up at Jon's scrunched up face.
"What?!" Jon asked bemused.
"Listen, man, don't fuck with me OK!" Sebastien stood up. "I told you, get on with it!" his soft voice has an edge to it, he was getting angry.
"No, seriously. What the hell are you talking about?!" Jon stared down at his already pissed off friend.
"Dude! You fucking sent me a note to meet you out here and you sounded dead serious too!" Sebastien folded his arms around Jon and stared into the other's eyes, then whispered. "Were you high?"
"You're kidding me right?" Jon pushed the other boy's arms away and stepped back a bit. "Because I did not send you any note, in fact, I got one from you and that's why I'm fucking here and not wrapped up in my warm blankets. So you better start talking!" Now it was Jon's turn to be furious.
"Excuse me, sent what?!" Sebastien asked in total bewilderment.
"This!" Jon ripped a piece of paper from his back pocket and dropped it in the stunned boy's hand. "Remember now?!" Jon hissed.
"I didn't send no fucking note Jon!" Sebastien frowned then throw his own note into Jon's hands. "But I got one from you."
They both stared at the identical piece of papers with different handwriting that also happened to be theirs. Waves of shock stroke their faces as they stared into each other's eyes. Today marked one month both of their friends were found brutally murdered by an unknown psycho who seems to have a thing for the human heart and now they are getting strange notes written in their very own handwriting from an unknown person. Fear took over their facial expressions in minutes as they stood frozen in place.
"Nick!" Jon whispered silently since Nick is been the only friend who isn't with them.
"Nick?" Sebastien asked confused.
"Maybe he sent them," Jon answered.
"Nick doesn't even know how to write his own handwriting, how much more ours!" Sebastien replied in plain disbelief.
"He could be pranking us!" Jon suggested.
"Nick doesn't have that brain!" Sebastien doubted Nick would ever pull such a prank.
"Then let's call the sucker and find out!" Jon pulled his phone out and hissed.
"What?!'
"No signal."
"Let's use mine." Sebastien speed-dialed Nick and placed the phone on loudspeaker. "I swear, I'll kill that idiot if he's behind this-" Sebastien was cut off by Nick's voice booming from the speakers.
"Yo, guys!" Nick called.
"Nick!" both boy's called at once.
"What parts of the pit of hell did the devil throw you both in?!" Nick asked.
"Are you crazy dude, where the hell is you?!" Sebastien yelled into the phone.
"Woah chill dude, I should be the one asking that question. Now, where are you guys?!"
"What do you mean, where are you guys?" Sebastien mimicked annoyingly.
"Isn't this your plan all along, we are waiting to beat your sorry ass man so you better hurry!" Jon laughed nervously.
"I don't know what you suckers are on about but I am lost in this cornrows that don't seem to have an end and it's getting dangerously dark out here guys. What kind of games are you two playing?!"
"What corn rows?!" Both boys asked.
"I got this stupid ass note from you both with this dumb location and now I'm lost in this field of endless cornrows, you better come find me, guys!"
"fuck." Jon hissed.
"Listen to me Nick we have no idea where you are and one thing is certain we did not send you a note," Sebastien told the boy.
"Who then sent me the note?" Nick asked.
"No idea bud!" Jon answered.
"You have to come to find me because I can't find my way."
"You need to get out of there right now Nick!" Jon yelled.
"What?!" Nick yelled back, their signals breaking.
"Get out of there right now!" Sebastien screamed.
"You're coming to get me?!" Nick called back.
"No. Run. Get Out!" Jon yelled, his hands and face sweaty.
"Alright, guys better hurry. There's a lot of corn and darkness too!" The lines went dead.
"FUCK!!" Both boy's screamed in frustrations.
"We should get out of here, we need to go find him." Jon rushed towards the big entrance door Sebastien hot on his heels.
"I told you Nick has no brains-" Sebastien stumbled into Jon's back. "What?!" he asked.
"I think you should call the cops they will get to him a lot faster before we do," Jon suggested and Sebastien nodded in agreement.
"Good idea, you get on with the door and I'll call the-"
"Shit!" Jon hissed again.
"What now?!" Sebastien asked phone pressed tightly on his left ear.
"What the hell!" Jon stood terrified as his heartbeats speed up faster.
"Open the fucking doors, Jon!" Sebastien marched towards the other boy. "I can't get a signal here!"
"I think the door is jammed!"
"How come?" Sebastien asked. "I didn't see a fucking lock when I got in and how the hell did the door close in the first place and we never even noticed?"
"This is crazy man, I'm scared!" Jon whispered with tears in his eyes.
"Hey come over here let's give it a push or a kick or whatever....just get over here!" Sebastien rushed out.
Jon reached him and together they pressed all four hands on both doors and pushed, kicked and banged until they lost all remaining strength and then they collapsed on the dried grass their backs against the wooden doors.
"I think someone locked us in on purpose."
"Fantastic isn't it!" Sebastien stood up to pace around the farmhouse. "We are locked up in this damn farmhouse with no signal on both our phones and our best friend is out there lost someplace in a cornfield this late at night hoping and waiting for us to come to get him and our families are all asleep right now thinking we are all doing the same, since we had already said our goodnights and had all gone to our rooms!" Sebastien threw his hands around in demonstration as he spoke.
"We are fucked, man!" Jon joined him on his feet.
"No, we are not. We need to find a way out of here!" Sebastien disagreed.
"Have you looked around you Sebastien, there is no fucking window," Jon yelled and sat down on the bench Sebastien had sat on before.
"You're right!" Sebastien sat beside Jon and scrolled through his phone.
"I suppose the only option we have is to wait until morning, I mean someone does own this farmhouse right?" Jon spoke softly.
"Yeah!" Sebastien replied with a yawn, too tired to say any more word.
