This one shot that contains the boy love version of Mac and Ruby, and also serves as an idea if I were to do a revamp on my Heaven & Hell AU book, in this AU, Mac and the employees of Azazel Incorporated are hired to kill the owner of a circus that competed against another circus owner, there, Mac stumbles upon the disturbing sight of some animals that the owner of the circus abused, then, his point of view changed when he sees a mysterious figure, singing a song to the deceased souls of the critters.

Down in the depths of Hell, where the skies were crimson red, and demons rummaged around the streets, we turn our attention to a tall building with dragon horns, known as Azazel Incorporated, a company of assassins that go to the human realm to kill people, under the command of a sinner, who has unfinished business with that said person.

Inside the building were five demons, one was a lava turtle known as Raph, one was a dragon demon known as Sunset Shimmer, who happens to be Raph's wife, one was a cat demon named Gumball, one was a fish demon known as Darwin, who was Gumball's adopted brother and the other was a fallen cherub named Mac.

Raph and Sunset are known as the owners of Azazel Incorporated, able to go through the human realm thanks to a special book that Sunset keeps with her to open portals to other dimensions, Gumball and Darwin serve as the receptionists of the company, plus they are the adopted sons of Raph, after he bought them from an animal shelter, and before he married Sunset.

For Mac, he's the newest members of Azazel Incorporated, after he got struck by lightning when trying to catch up with the other cherubs, but it only caused him to get struck by lighting and break his halo, preventing him from returning to Heaven and be transferred to Hell, fortunately, Raph, Sunset, Gumball and Darwin were kind enough to let him stay with them as their weapons specialist, despite Mac not liking the idea of hurting others.

Right now Mac and the other employees were just relaxing a quiet day of work, when a sudden quake shook their building. "What's going on?" Raph asked. "Is that a Hell Shake?"

"Is that the same as an earthquake?" Mac asked.

"Alright Mac, there's no need to panic." Darwin said as he tried to calm Mac down, despite Mac not being affected by the shake.

"Relax, I'm not panicking." Mac said to Darwin.

"Stop panicking! You're getting hysterical!!" Gumball said as he shook Mac and threw him to the ground, causing Mac to be a bit dizzy.

Then, a hole bursted through the walls of the building as a round demon in a red circus uniform came out and presented himself. "Do not be afraid!" The demon said with a wide smile.

"And please tell me you got that insurance thing." Sunset said as she wasn't fazed by this.

"Who are you and what do you want!?" Darwin asked as he became defensive.

"I am Marcelo Tumbler! Master of entertainment and all things tumbly and tumblish!!" The demon, now known as Marcelo said dramatically.

"Couldn't you have just used the door instead?" Gumball asked as Mac then got up on his feet.

"I am eccentric! And must therefore do eccentric shindigs!" Marcelo said as he danced around.

"Ugh! This old sack reeks of the living world, did you just die?" Raph asked as he pinched his nose at the demon's smell of the living world.

"Yes! Moments ago in fact! Which is what brought me here!" Marcelo said with a smile.

"Just saying, the front door could've been just fine." Darwin mentioned as Gumball agreed.

"Shut up, dear furries!" Marcelo said as Darwin and Gumball took this as offensive and growled at him, but Marcelo ignored them and showed Sunset and Raph a picture of a skinny man in a blue circus uniform. "This is the man I'm gonna need you to kill!"

"Huh, not even a few minutes in Hell and already wanting revenge, I can respect a man with that sort of passion." Raph said as he smirked and he and Sunset shook hands with Marcelo. "Name's Raphael, but you can call me Raph for short, and this is my wife, Sunset Shimmer."

"So, Mr. Tumbler, why don't you tell us who this man is and what he did to you?" Sunset asked Marcelo.

"He's known as Rasputin Hedon, my longtime rival! Back then, Rasputin and I competed on which circus was the best, always competing in who had the best clowns, the best performers, all that shindig, but then one day, Rasputin had the idea to use animals for his circus, which gained loads of attention! So I decided to do the same too! And you can see how that went!" Marcelo said as she showed some of the gruesome scars that were left behind by the animals, which were mostly on his torso and face.

The demons winced at Marcelo's wounds. "Now, thanks to me being dead, that no good cheating bastard is going to take away all the attention that I had! Without me to compete in it, he'll make all the goddamn money in the world, and become the most powerful man in the world, and get all the credit!" Marcelo said dramatically.

"Yeah, I don't think that's necessarily evil." Sunset said as she found his origin to be a bit ridiculous.

"It's evil towards me!" Marcelo said in defense. "Now get your demon asses up above and send that talentless, low life, bastard to Hell, where he belongs!"

"Uh, you do know, Marco—" Raph said as he got Marcelo's name wrong.

"Marcelo." Marcelo corrected Raph.

"Uh, yes, of course, if we do kill him though, and he ends up down here, you know you will be stuck with him, forever." Raph explained with a blank stare at the end.

"Oh trust me...I'm counting on it." Marcelo said as he rubbed his hands together with a malicious smile. "Toodaloo!"

Soon after, Marcelo left by jumping out of the building. "Alright then, you heard the man, let's get out there ruin this circus!" Raph said as he smirked

"Yay! let's go out there and kick some circus butt!" Darwin said with enthusiasm.

"Oh crud..." Mac said as he wasn't enjoyed by this.

After the employees of Azazel Incorporated got their choice of weapons and used Sunset's magic of teleportation to arrive to Rasputin's circus, with the help of a few disguises, they were able to sneak into the circus without being suspected as demons.

"Ugh, this place reeks of peanuts and desperation." Sunset said as she looked around. "I say we're in the right place."

Mac then bumped into a statue of a clown, which caused him to scream and fall to the ground. "You sure are jumpy today." Darwin said to Mac.

"Sorry, circuses just tend to disturb me, especially clowns..." Mac said as he shuddered.

"Okay, I picked up Rapsutin's scent, he should just about..." Gumball said as he looked around and point to a large circus tent. "There."

The demons then snuck inside the circus tent, where performers, such as clowns and acrobatics, were practicing their usual tricks, and in the middle of the circus, was a skinny man in a blue circus uniform, who was watching them perform.

"That man in blue has to be him." Raph said quietly as he chuckled. "This is gonna be too easy."

"Say Mac, want to take the first shot?" Sunset asked Mac.

"Me?" Mac asked as she was surprised.

"Yeah, should be an easy job for you, I mean it's just a circus ring master." Raph said as he smirked.

Mac then noticed Rasputin giving a gentle pat on the head to some of the clowns and smiled, which made Mac feel unsure of killing him, since he seemed like a caring person who cares for the well being of his performers.

"Welp, you snooze you loose." Raph said as he smirked and pointed his gun towards Rasputin. "And I got you, bitch..."

"Wait, are we actually killing everyone in the circus?" Mac asked as he was becoming concerned.

"What, no, don't be a wuss, we're just killing a circus owner." Raph said as he smirked.

"Exactly, we're ruining a circus." Sunset said as she smirked and let Raph continue trying to shoot Rasputin.

"Look, let's just think about this for a—" Mac tried to persuade them and stop Raph from firing his gun, but that caused Raph to accidentally shoot one of the performers, instead of Rasputin, causing the circus to be alarmed.

"What was that, Rasputin?" An acrobatic asked.

This caused Mac, Sunset, Raph, Gumball and Darwin to rush out of the circus tent, Rasputin looked around and grumbled, as he sensed the demons' presence.

"So, Marcelo thinks he can send spy to take down Rasputin and circus...well..." Rasputin said, his voice was in a gruff Russian accent, he then got out a pistol. "Marcelo will learn that when you mess with circus...you end up dead..."

With the employees of Azazel Incorported, they were hiding out of the tent. "What the hell was that for, Mac!?" Raph asked angrily at Mac.

"I'm sorry! He just looked so caring and innocent, I just...I just panicked..." Mac said as he apologized.

"Oh who the hell is innocent?! This is the real world where everyone isn't innocent!" Raph said in angered. "So get the hell over yourself, you big baby!!"

Suddenly, Raph got his shoulder shot by Rasputin's gun. "Ow! A new hole!" Raph said in pain. "Scatter!!"

It was then that the employees of Azazel Incorporated ran away and split up, while Rasputin and the other performers chased after them, intending on killing them.

While Sunset and Raph were handling Rasputin and while Gumball and Darwin were handling the clowns of Rasputin's circus, Mac was busy battling off the acrobatics.

"Easy now, let's not make things too messy..." Mac said as he tried to calm down one of the acrobatics, he had an ax in hand, unfortunately, Mac couldn't hold the ax because of how heavy it was and accidentally sliced the other performer's head in half.

"Jill!! No!" The male acrobatic said in sorrow. "We were supposed to grow old together, and perform as a family..."

In anger the male acrobatic tried to stab Mac with a sword, but Mac managed to stop him by swinging the ax at the male acrobatic, and decapitate his head, which made Mac shocked that he killed them.

Sunset, Raph, Gumball and Darwin managed to defeat Rasputin's clowns, they were suddenly knocked down by a few extra cronies of Rasputin, as Rasputin then pointed his gun at the four demons.

"Is shame I have to kill you, you make good additions to circus." Rasputin said with an evil smirk. "Then again, goodbye, vermin..."

But before he could do more harm, Mac grabbed a gun that one of the performers dropped and managed to shoot Rasputin in the head, causing him to fall to the ground lifeless and the other performers to run away, while also leaving the demons speechless.

"Wow, Mac, look at you, you managed to kill three people in cold blood, I'm so proud of you." Raph said as he smirked.

"It was in self defense." Mac said as he frowned.

"Now now, don't lie to us, you killed these people intentionally." Sunset said as she smirked.

"Well guys, another job well done, now let's head back to the office to celebrate." Raph said as he smirked.

As the employees of Azazel Incorporated left, Mac was about to go with them, when he looked at the corpses again and sighed, he felt really bad that he killed three people, since when he was a cherub, his sole purpose was to give blessings to other people and save them, not the opposite.

Suddenly, his ears suddenly picked up a strange sound, it sounded like someone was singing something to someone, in a gentle lullaby.

???: Loo-li, loo-li

Mac became fascinated by the beautiful voice that sang this gentle lullaby, so Mac followed on where the lullaby was, with each step, he grew closer to it, and eventually stumbled upon a stable.

Once Mac got inside, he was horrified to have seen that laying on the ground, was a battered up elephant that had bruises all over it's body, and was just a few minutes away from dying, turns out that Rasputin took this elephant and has beaten it constantly if it didn't get a single trick right or if they disobeyed orders.

Mac was about to look away, but then noticed a mysterious figure in a black cloak walking towards the dying elephant, it laid on the ground next to the elephant as they sang the same lullaby to the elephant, revealing that they were the ones that were singing.

???: May you sail fair
To the far fields of fortune
With diamonds and pearls
At your hand and your feet

And may you need never
To banish misfortune
May you find kindness
In all that you meet...

It was then that the figure took off their cloak and wrapped it around the dying elephant, revealing the figure to be a male anthropomorphic lamb like demon with red hair, a pale white face with freckles and mint green eyes, red fur all over his body, except his hands and wrists, a black shirt with black and white striped long sleeves, dark pants that was ripped to his cankles, which showed his hooved feet and some of his red fur, grayish brown ram horns and a white lily as a pin on his shirt.

This figure was known as Ruben, a satyr like demon who takes on the role as the grim reaper, while many people believe the grim reaper to be mean spirited and evil, Ruben in truth is kind and caring towards souls who are close to dying, and would usually comfort them before they die, and whenever he comes to collect a soul of an animal or human, they are transported to the spirit realm, where Ruben allows them to watch over their love ones in the form of spirits, the body they leave behind then becomes a pile of glowing leaves and flowers are sprouted on the space that they've died.

Ruben: May there always be angels

Safe from all harm
Loo-li, loo-li lai-lay...

As Ruben continued to sing, the elephant then took one last breath, closed it's eyes, and succumbed to a never ending slumber, of which they won't ever wake up, while Ruben stayed by the Elephant's side and used his hand to gently rub its head.

Mac couldn't honestly believe this person, he knew well that the demons of hell were known for being cynical, mean and uncaring towards others, yet this one was caring and kind towards others and stayed next to this elephant and not leaving it alone.

The spirit of the elephant then rose up from it's body, it was then that the spirit of the elephant saw another older elephant that was a female, the elephant went over to the female elephant and wrapped their trunk around the elderly elephant, as they enjoyed a warm embrace from their trunks tied together.

Ruben: May you bring love
And may you bring happiness

After Ruben finished his lullaby, it was then that the spirits of the elephants vanished, the body of the dying elephant became a pile of glowing leaves as it drifts through the wind, and a large bed of flowers was created where the elephant once was.

Mac witnessed everything and was astonished by Ruben's powers and how he helped that elephant while they were dying, Ruben's ears picked up a bit of movement, and Mac then decided to make a run for it and leave, so Ruben wouldn't see them.

With Mac, he was behind the stables and was trying to process on what he saw. "Who was that person? Was that some sort of grim reaper? Was he a demon of some sort?" Mac asked himself as it was hard for him to process.

"I thought sensed that someone was near." A voice said as Mac turned to see Ruben, causing Mac to scream and fall to the ground. "It's okay, there's no need to feel afraid." Ruben said as he gave a sweet smile.

"It's just, I've never seen a demon like you before." Mac mentioned as he got up. "I saw how you were towards that elephant, and I was confused, if you were a demon, how come you didn't leave it there?"

Ruben then gave a soft chuckle. "While it is true that I am a demon, and I get that I'm not like most demons." Ruben explained. "However, I tend to focus more on the different souls that are deceased, and comfort them so that they'll be able to live a peaceful afterlife, which is different than the life they had when living."

"Oh, I see." Mac said as he understood, still feeling a bit shocked by Ruben's kind nature.

Then Ruben noticed the soul of a deceased rabbit and allowed the rabbit to be in Ruben's arms. "Want to hold on?" Ruben asked as he gave the soul to Mac.

"Hold a soul?" Mac asked in surprise.

Ruben nodded in response, Mac then grabbed the soul and gently held it, the soul was cold at touch, but at the same time, Mac felt himself smiling at the soul.

"It's cold...but at the same time...it starts to warm my heart a bit..." Mac said as he smiled.

"Wonderful, isn't it?" Ruben asked as Mac then gave back the soul to Ruben, he then noticed that Mac looked to be a bit upset at something. "Something wrong?"

"Well, I just don't get why someone like you is talking to me." Mac said as he frowned. "You care for other souls and lead them to a peaceful life, but the only thing me and my group is good at is killing others and making them suffer...and that was after I was a cherub and was only stayed in Hell because I couldn't return back to Heaven...shouldn't you just avoid me?"

Ruben knew that Mac was a demon like him, and that his actions are different than his, despite this, Ruben makes a flower crown from his hands and puts it on Mac.

"I know it's hard to adjust to things such as this, and it is awful to hurt others by killing them, but for every life that's dead, more souls will appear, and those who have been hurt by those who indulge pain onto others, will be able to find peace and not worry about the person that hurt them, allowing them to be free." Ruben explained. "And as for other demons like you, I choose to show kindness to them, regardless of their actions or behavior, and let them know that it is okay now."

Mac was amazed by Ruben, he's choosing to show kindness to him, despite the fact that the actions they make are different, and what their roles are, that, plus the flower crown that Ruben gave him, was enough to cause Mac to feel something inside him, like he thought that Ruben was one of the nicest person to be around, and he enjoys being with him.

"Uh...I think I better get going..." Mac said as he got up, while also hiding his blush. "Th-Thank you for everything..."

It was then that Mac left to join the others, Ruben smiled as he waved to Mac and went their separate ways, they weren't so sure if they'll see each other again, but maybe one day they could meet up again, and maybe start to become closer.
