Happie reading..!!
Manhaar's POV:
We are having a conversation! In my whole life of 15 years, this is the first time I'm talking this much with her.
It's not that I don't want to talk to her; I used to feel the urge to talk to her, but with passing time, that urge started to disappear. Then I became accustomed to it.
Our relationship is not like every other mother-daughter duo.She is very calm and composed.
If my mother is in a room full of people, she will surely try to hide her presence. And she will be successful at it too! You wouldn't even get the slightest idea of her being there. We could totally ignore her presence, and that's exactly what she wants!
"I don't know much about it! Just something about your grandfather's political matters and some family conflicts," she lied, saying it half-heartedly."Okay!" I said while getting up.
Sometimes I feel like she is just a body without a soul! She lives with us, but I barely see her-just at dinner and lunch, and sometimes in the evening. She doesn't like functions, so whenever everyone is going out, she stays home.My father keeps her company, and trust me, he is a very good husband. I think he's pretty good as a father too, as a family man.
But trust me, as a human, he is everything but good!
I simply lay on my bed. Everything is running in my mind like a recorder-every word, everything. What is happening? I'm not able to understand anything right now. I just want to sleep! I'll see what tomorrow morning brings!
At Gwalvanshi Residence:
"Maanu, it's okay! Everyone there is your family, okay? Feel free and enjoy yourself!" said my grandfather while patting my head. And here we are, standing at our door.
They are here to take me with them to Punjab! My family is here to say goodbye to me. It feels like I'm going on vacation.
Okay, I understand it's my vacation, and I want to go out, but not like this! Not at all. But let's just see.
My sisters are smiling at me. I too smile slightly because, no matter what, they are still my sisters-my better half! But I'm still not over the fact that they hid this from me."Take care, Maanu," said those three in unison. They suck at hiding their excitement! Barely anyone will notice it, but I do!
"Yes, take care of yourselves too," I said while bidding goodbye to everyone.
My brother said I didn't have to pack my bags because everything I need will be there. Still, if I want something for myself, I can get it, so I'm just leaving with my phone, a mini Bluetooth headset, and my diary in a small shoulder bag.Right now, we are on our way to the airport, with my elder brother driving the car. Mr. Saini is in the passenger seat, and my second elder brother and I are sitting in the back seat.
"Do you know, Maa-" my second elder brother was about to speak, but suddenly my phone started ringing, startling all of us because there was pin-drop silence in the car.I bit my tongue and picked up the phone without checking the caller ID.
"What the hell?" came the cursing sound of Rishi-I mean, Rinex.
"What?" I said, bored, because he was cursing out of nowhere.
"You're going out of state and you didn't tell me at all!!" he exclaimed.
"Ghumne nahi ja rahi jo pure manhole mein gati phiru," I stated, and by now, all three men are looking at me.
(Translation: I'm not going for roaming around that I will sing all over the neighborhood.)
Oh gosh, I forgot I'm in the car with them!"My friend!" I said while looking at Mr. Joint Man, and all three of them nodded in unison."Are you with someone? And tell me why you're going all of a sudden. You know I have a battle this week! Just tell me something, you dumbo!" He started speaking like a radio, bombarding me with questions.
"Take a breath, Mr. Give me time to say something," I said, as he was talking in one breath and expecting me to answer how?!"I'm going to Punjab with my family, and sorry, but I will not be able to come for your battle! However, I will watch it on video call and will give you an apology treat too! Now, that's okay, right?" I said, justifying my side.
"That's not fine, yaar!" he whined like a cute child, and I can imagine him tilting his head."But why are you going to Punjab all of a sudden?" he inquired.
Now what should I tell him? He is like an elder brother and a friendly figure to me, but saying all this on the phone doesn't sound right.
"I'll tell you everything in detail when we meet! For now, focus on the battle! And wait, why are you buzzing around?" I stated because at this time, he should be practicing."Yeah, yeah, I'm going, but remember, the treat is pending."
"Yes, yes, I will remember now. Bye!" I hung up the call.By the time we reached the airport, I was just taking my bag when my eldest brother opened the door on my side. We came out, and the three of us headed toward the entrance.
The airport's overhead lights flickered as Manhaar and her family stood in line at security, the tension palpable. Manhaar glanced at her father, who was trying to mask his worry with a forced smile, and at her brother, who was shifting impatiently. But why?
Suddenly, an announcement blared over the intercom: "Attention, all passengers on flight 305 to Punjab IXC-please proceed to gate 24. The flight is now boarding."
Her brother's phone buzzed with a notification, but he barely had time to glance at it before a security agent approached them, his expression stern. "Excuse me, ma'am, sir. We need to speak with you immediately."
Her father's face tightened. "Is there a problem?"Before the agent could respond, her brother's phone buzzed again, more urgently this time. He pulled it out to see a message from an unknown number: "You're not safe. They know you're here."
The world seemed to tilt as his heart pounded. He looked up to see the security agent's eyes darting nervously toward the exit, and his hand tightened around hers."Is this a joke?" her eldest brother demanded, but the agent's gaze remained grim."Let's just get out of here," her brother said, grabbing her arm.
But as they turned to leave, a loud crash echoed from the direction of the gate, and the airport's alarm system began blaring.Manhaar's pulse quickened. They were trapped in chaos that was only beginning to unravel, and the reality of their situation was just starting to hit.
That's all for today!
