A/N: I know this is late but I suddenly sent home from my aunty's so yeah, i had to pack. I said I was doing all requests and New Years ones are included! (Mario's POV)

Today's the last day of 2019, a.k.a New Years Eve. Everyone was setting up for tonight's firework show that's gonna happen at Midnight.

Every other camper who wasn't helping, was talking about how their year has been at camp. Xylo was talking with Kay, Bryan was with Bri, Jake's with his boyfriend, and obviously Ritchie, Michael and Austin were together, helping with the fireworks display.

Me on the otherhand, I was walking around camp, feeling a little... homesick. You see, it's my first New Years celebration without my mother.

I haven't seen her in so long and wish she was here... I wanna see her, even if it's just for New Years...

(Xylo's POV)

Kay and I were just talking about the year and how it's been at camp until I saw Mario walking around.

I turned and waved my arm at him, "Hey! Mario!" I called out to him but he just looked at me with a sad face and continued walking with his head down. Me and Kaykrae looked at each other, confused.

"Normally he would greet us or walk over." Kay said in a worried tone.

"Yeah, something's wrong. C'mon." We both got up from our seats and followed the lightning demigod.

We ended up following him to the campfire where he sat on a log. We hid behind a bush and listened to what Mario was saying.

"It's just... it's different to what I did at home at this time. Everyone else has been here longer and I'm new. It's just my first time away from home and away from... my mother..." He said to himself, sadly.

We were both completely shocked.

"Mario..." I trailed off, looking at Kay.

"...is homesick?" She said looking back at me. We stared at each other and nodded, having the same thought in our head. We decided to listen up to Mario's little rant about his normal New Years tradition in order to plan something special for him.

After a while...

After he finished talking to himself, he left for his cabin so we took this as an opportunity to set out plan into action. We gathered all the campers into the middle of camp to discuss our plan.

"Alright, everyone, listen up! Kay has something to say." I say grinning while looking at everyone.

"Thank you Xylo. So, is everyone familiar with our lightning friend, Mario?" Everyone nodded their heads, now concerned about the little demigod.

You see, we all became protective of the little bean ever since he came to camp. He seems to attract attention and not the good kind. Heck, even Bryan is trying to be friends with him but Mario still doesn't trust him and is scared he'll turn again.

"And is everyone familiar with New Years?" Now everyone was confused on how they connect.

"Well, you see, Mario is... homesick." I say. Most of the campers understand but some are still confused. The one's who have known Mario since he first arrived (Marshie, Relena, me, Kay etc) understand. The ones who don't really know him but are friends or are still protective of him (Colin, Ritchie, Austin, Bri etc).

"How's he homesick?" Ritchie asks with his hand up like we're in school.

"Before he came to this camp, he lived in his house with his mother in the city. He's never spent New Years away from his mother so, he's feeling a little homesick about it." Now, everyone understands and a wave of sympathy crashes over us for the poor lightning bean.

"So, we're planning on surprising him with tonight's firework display!" I yell, excitingly. Smiles were placed on everyone's faces as they all nodded and we got to work, planning Mario's big New Year's surprise.

1 hour til Midnight...

Alright. Everything is all set up and Kay should be here with Mario's 'present' any minute. Bryan and some others also came back with another little surprise for him and I hope I know what it is.

Once Kay arrived and Mario's 'surprise' was in place, all we had to do was get Mario!

"Now we get Mario! Xylo, you wanna get him?" I nodded eagerly and ran off to Mario's cabin.

Once I got to the door, I knocked on it and waited for an answer. I heard a faint 'come in' from inside so I opened the door and walked inside.

Inside, I saw Mario, face in his pillow, with a picture of him and his mother next to him on his bed.

"Mario?" I asked softly.

"W-What do you want?" He turns and faces me as I looked at his puffy eyes, probably from cyring.

"I came to get you for the fireworks." I sat down on his bed next to him.

"I'm n-not g-going." He said bluntly, putting his face in his pillow again.

I knew he was going to say that so, I picked him up in my arms, which earned a yelp from him as he wrapped his arms around my neck.

"Well, I'm taking you anyways. We have a surprise anyways." I say grinning as I walk out of his cabin and off to the campfire. He just sighed and hid his face in my neck, causing me to chuckle.

When we arrived, I put Mario down and walked over to Kay, ready for the next step.

(Mario's POV)

As Xylo walked away, I just sat on the log, staring at the fire. I was lost in thought until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I thought it was Xylo so I just sighed. "What do you want, Xylo?"

"Hey, I don't remember my name being Xylo, Mario." A very familiar voice spoke and it wasn't Xylo... I got up quickly and spun around to be met with none other than...

"M-M-Mom?!" I yelled in tears as I ran and hugged her tightly, to which she returned.

"Hello, Mario. It's been quite a long time since I last saw you." She said as she pulled away from the hug. I smiled brightly.

"It h-has! H-How'd you g-get here t-to c-camp?" I asked, now confused on how she's here.

"Well, your friends called and said you were feeling a little homesick. So Kay came and got me to spend New Years here with you!" More tears poured from my eyes as I looked at everyone, who had smiles on their faces or a thumbs up at me.

"T-Thank you! N-Now we can follow o-our tradition!" Everyone laughed at my excitement. We went over to the opening of the camp to see blankets everywhere, big enough for two people each.

We all took a blanket, sharing one with a friend or sibling or someone who meant something special to us.

Jake shared with Brandeen, Austin with Bri, Colin with Lily, Ritchie with Michael, Mitch with Marshie, my mother with Kay as two special people to me, Bryan with Inmo. Brick and Seek were alone. Xylo was next to me, for some reason, he insisted.

When Kay heard this, she chuckled as my face went red at the thought of lying next to Xylo.

"2 more minutes!" Austin calls out.

"So, how's your time at camp been, Mario?" Xylo asked turning his head to face me.

"It's been great! I've had a lot of adventures, I learnt who my dad was, and I made friends like you and Kay!" It honestly pained my heart a little to say 'friend' to Xylo. I think he looked a little hurt but it went away.

"Well, that's good. I'm happy I met you guys too." He smiled and it made me smile brighter at him.

"30 seconds!!" Ritchie calls out this time.

This time, everyone sits up next to their partner, some still having conversations.

"10 seconds!" Colin yells.

"Mario..." Xylo says nervously.

"5 seconds!!"

"Yes Xylo?" I turned to face him, equally as nervous.

"4..."

"Well, we've known each other since you first came to camp..."

"3..."

"Yeah?"

"2..."

"I hope this doesn't ruin anything."

"1..."

Right when I was gonna question Xylo, I felt him pull me towards him as he connected our lips. I was shocked at first but kissed him back, smiling.

"HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!" Everyone who didn't have a partner to kiss yelled, including my mother and Kay. The fireworks also went off in the background but I wasn't focused on them, I was more focused on the man I was kissing.

When we pulled apart, we smiled at each other and hugged.

"So, you like me too?" Xylo chuckled as he whispered in my ear.

I nodded my head quickly.

I pulled away from the hug and smiled at him, to which he smiled back and gave me a quick peck on the lips. "There is another surprise for you though, before I ask you my question."

I looked at him confused until I felt another tap on my shoulder. I turned around and was met with Bryan, holding out a box.

"U-Umm, h-hi Bryan... W-What do y-you need?" I say nervously as I lean on Xylo.

"I just wanted to say... I'm sorry for how I acted last year and I want this year to be better. I wanted us to be friends, if you would like. To prove my honesty, I have got you a gift along with some other campers' help." He says, apologetically, handing me the box.

I hesitantely take it and opened it, only for my eyes to tear up at what's inside.

"Y-You got J-Jeffery?!" I squealed as I pulled the stuffed squid out of the box and hugged it tightly.

"Yep. I felt guilty about burning your old one so, to make up for it and to hopefully earn your friendship, I got you a new one. Some of the other campers helped me raise the money so-" I interupted him by standing up quickly and pulling him into a tight hug.

"Thank you!! And of course you can be my friend!" I hug him tighter, as he also hugs me back. "Thanks."

My mother spoke up. "Now Mario, about the next part of our tradition?"

I beamed as I grabbed Jeffery and sat down on Xylo's lap. I put Jeffery beside me as I pull out a guitar and started playing. Everyone else sat back down on thier blankets.

When I finished, everyone clapped and cheered. Xylo pulled me in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "That was beautiful."

"T-Thanks! My mother t-taught me that." I said, smiling at my mother who smiled right back.

Now everyone was getting ready to sleep on the blankets. When everyone was asleep, I huddled into Xylo's chest as we looked at the stars together.

"Hey Mario?" He quietly asked.

I hummed to let him know I was listening.

"Since I now know you like me, i wanted to ask. Would you like to be my boyfriend?"

I smiled brightly as I pulled up from his chest and kissed him softly on the lips. "Of course!"

He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer. I snuggled back into his chest.

"Happy New Years, Mario."

"Happy New Years, Xylo!"

We fell asleep, cuddling under the night sky on the first day of the new year.

A/N: Ok so this was supossed to come out about an 1hr and 1/2 ago but, I couldn't find a guitar solo for 'The Nights' by Avicii (which is what the song is)
Sorry to anyone who doesn't like the ship, I just thought it would be different than Kario. Normally, I'd ship Xylo with Marshie and obviously Mario with Kay.
I won't do this ship again unless suggested :3
