(David's POV)

On ma bed, staring at the ceiling, just... Thinking.

We had a meeting and I stripped like normal but... Mario said nothing, which wasn't normal. He just sat there like I wasn't there or something. The guild leaders were definetly surprised to have a reasonably quiet guild meeting.

If I'm gonna be honest, I'm gonna be very straight-forward. (A/N: Excuse me? You. Straight. Never...)

I think... I like Pebble-Brain.

He's calm, caring, smart I guess, and kinda cute? I dunno myself! It's weird. One minute I'm arguing with him in a guild meeting, next I'm in my room, trying to get him out of my head.

I blushed at the thought of him in my mind. I shook my head, hid my face and screamed silently...

I definetly have a crush on the one person who I argue with the most in the gu- actually, in all of Atlantide!!

I mentally try to get it out of my head because I didn't think he would like me at all, but it never worked. So, I accepted my fate on having a hopeless crush.

Mario will never like me...

(Mario's POV)

I was gonna train today but I just didn't feel like it. Normally, I'm all for training but today, I just can't feel the excitement I usually feel.

I'm just in my bed, stuck in my thoughts. Until the thought of David shirtless came into my mind. I blushed hard at that mental image.

Like usual, I would just argue with him about having his shirt on, then argue about something else with him. But the last meeting was different...

David stripped again but... I didn't say anything, much to my surprise. I just kept my mouth shut like I couldn't say anything even if I wanted to. Even Ritchie and Brandon were surprised to have an uninterupted meeting for the first time in a while.

Ever since, I can't get the image of the shirtless male out of my mind for more than a minute! Even if he is kinda hot...

Oh god I think I have a crush... On a stripper...

I mean, he is kinda hot, caring when he wants to be, and- oh jeez. I think I have a hopeless crush...

David won't like me...

(No one's POV)

What these two didn't know, is that some sort of deadly cupid was gonna come out of nowhere and shoot one of them with a love arrow... That has a twist... (A/N: nothing actually came and shot one of them, that's my way of saying one of them randomly got a disease :3)

The next day...

(Mario's POV)

I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and slight headache. At the moment, I didn't think it was much so, I still got ready for the guild meeting I had to sit through.

I coughed a few times while getting ready but ignored it. Then I headed out the door and towards the guildhall.

Minutes later...

The meeting was actually going smoothly. David hasn't stripped yet, weird, and I had a few coughs here and there but, it was going good. I did get a few looks of corcern but I waved them off.

"Mario. You haven't said anything this entire meeting so, what's your opinion on the new training style." Ritchie said, looking at me with a grin on his face.

"It's h-helpful?" My eyes widened at how my voice sounded slightly croaky just now, and I think everyone else was surprised to.

"Are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah. Just got a s-slightly sore throat today and-" I was interupted by something coming up my throat from my stomach so I ran outside and threw up in the bushes.

Is that blood?!

"Are you ok, Mario?" I heard David so I quickly wipe my mouth and I turn around to met with a pair of blue eyes, concern shining clearly in them.

Since when was he like this towards me?

"Y-Yeah... Can y-you tell Ritchie and B-Brandon that I'm g-gonna head home?" I say slightly wobbly.

"I think I'm gonna take you home. We can tell Ritchie and Brandon on the way. You look like you need it." He helped stable me as we walked back to the guildhall.

When we entered, everyone was staring at me, faces filled with concern and worry for everyone.

"I'm gonna take Mario home since he can barely walk by himself. Just fill me in on what we missed."

"Ok. David, we'll fill you in when you return and Mario, go home and get some rest. You really look like you need it." Ritchir said while his brother nodded in agreement.

David nodded and we started to head back to my place.

At Night in Mario's place...

(No one's POV)

The sleeping Dragon Slayer was too deep in sleep to notice tiny little stubs started to grow on his skin. These little flower buds are called Neon Buds, they are very poisonous and are the resulted on a 'one-sided' love. They will kill the person slowly if not removed, and it can only be cured by one thing... But being caused by 'one-sided love', it becomes hard to cure...

That Morning...

(Mario's POV)

This time, I woke up with a normal-feeling throat and no headache. But I did wake up with scratch arms and an itchy torso. I thought it was a rash so I went to my bathroom and my eyes went wide as plates once my shirt was off.

"WHAT THE HECK?!" I whisper-yelled, quite loudly. I had flower buds all over my body, they were neon blue petals with a pitch black inside.

Is this a Cavern magic thing?! If so, I've never seen it!

I shook myself from my shock and went to change my clothes for the day, making sure to cover the flower buds so no one sees them. I wore a mask this time in case I threw up again, plus if these flowers are contagious, I don't want anyone else catching them.

Time skip to arriving at the meeting!!

I walked through the door and everyone was there. They looked at the door to see me and their faces immediately went to worry.

"Are you ok now?" Brandon asks this time.

"Yeah. Definetly better than yesterday." I took my respective seat next to Kit as she looked at me, confused.

"Umm, you need something Kit?"

"Why are you wearing a mask, if you aren't sick?" Now everyone else was confused.

"I never said I wasn't sick, I just said I felt much better than yesterday. I'm wearing this so you guys don't get sick as well." I sheugged and turned back to the meeting.

"Ok... Well, today we will be talking about..."

It wen't semi-well. David stripped, I blushed visuably but they thought it was because I was sick, then I started scratching my arms. This made some people concerned but the most concern was Tapio.

Currently, he's talking with me in the training grounds.

"Mario, could I see your arms?" He asked, nervously.

"Umm, sure." I thought that since he was nature that he would understand what these were. I took my jacket off and revealed my arms which were littered in bloomed neon blue flowers.

Tapio's eyes widened as his ears flopped down. I think if he was human, his skin would've paled. "It can't be...

I looked at him worriedly. "Is there something wrong? I thought that this was just a cavern magic thing but by your expression, I guess it's not."

He shook his head quickly. "It is not a magic thing at all! Those flowers are called Neon Buds. They are very poisonous and will kill you slowly! They come from a disease called 'Hanahaki' or 'one-sided love'!"

I started to panic and my eyes widened again. I didn't even know what Hanahaki was but I couldn't think straight anyways! "I COULD DIE FROM THIS?!" I yelled but coughed violently afterwards. Tapio just patted my back to help.

Once I finished, I looked up at him panicked. "What do we do?!" I whispered this time because I felt like my voice was gone after the coughing fit.

"We have to tell the twins! They are in a guild meeting right now but that doesn't matter because you're dying!" He pulled me up from my seat on the ground and we ran towards the meeting spot.

I had a little cough throughout the run but I wheezed once we arrived.

"Hello?! Guild leaders?!" Tapio yelled, running in as I tailed behind him. The guild leaders, who were discussing a few things, suddenly look up and saw me and Tapio at the doorway, looking very panicked.

"Mario? And a green cat?" Bri asked, looking at Tapio.

"Twins, do you know who this is?" Michael looked at the twins as both nod their heads.

"Guys, this is Tapio, our newest member to Divinus Magia. Tapio this is Michael, Sil-"

"Sorry Ritchie but we don't have time for introductions!!" Tapio interupted Ritchie, getting a few glares from Brandon and Michael.

"What is so important that you had to interupt our meeting and Ritchie?" Michael said, still glaring at Tapio.

Tapio was gonna say something if I didn't have another coughing fit but this time, blood and flower petals were coming out. He turned around and quickly left to pat me on my back to help. The guild leaders looking shocked was an understatement.

Once my -I don't even know how much- coughing fit/throw up was done, I just sat on the floor.

"What happened?!" Bri asked, worried.

"I tried to tell you guys, we don't have much time. He's dying because of a disease called Hanahaki which causes these poisonous flowers..." He rolled up my sleeves to show more flowers have grown. This shocked the leaders even more. "...to grow and slowly kill him from the inside!"

Now everyone in the room was worried that I could die.

"Do you have any idea on what the cure is?! We can't lose him! He's a dragon slayer, guildmate and friend!" Ritchie yelled, panicked.

"There's only one way of curing this... It has the name for a reason..."

"Well, quit stalling and maybe we can help!" Now Silver was yelling.

"It's called Hanahaki or... One-side love. Meaning, Mario doesn't believe his crush will like him and this disease formed on him. His disbelief is what sprouted these flowers. The only way for them to disappear for good... is for his crush to reveal themselves."

The guild leaders were looking at me, especially Ritchie and Brandon, as if to ask me if that's true. I shyly nod my head as tears started to form. Tapio hugged me in an attempt to comfort me and it kinda worked.

"Mario. Who's your crush?" Michael asked sternly.

I shook my head as I didn't believe David would like me. Michael then sighed and I felt him tap into my head. He then gasped suddenly.

"You like him?!" Everyone looked at Michael curiously. I just nod my head.

"Who is it?" Silver asked.

"How about I just bring him here?" My eyes widened as Michael worked his shadow magic. I was going to yell at him to stop but it was too late, David was already in the room, facing his back to me. More tears came down my face as I could feel the rejection coming.

"Umm, where am I and why am I here?" He frantically looked around until his eyes landed on me. Then they widened as he rushed over to me.

I heard Bri whisper to Michael, "Mario likes him?!" To which Michael just nods.

"Mario?! What's wrong and why are you covered in blue flowers?!" He hugged me and I couldn't help but cry into his chest.

"Mario has a disease called Hanahaki... It's causing him to-"

"I know what Hanahaki is. Mario, who do you like?" He interupted Tapio and looked at me, in the eyes too. His eyes looked hurt from the inside.

"You..." I mumbled and looked away but he didn't hear me.

"Mario, you need to speak up. I can't hep if you're quiet." He says grabbing my chin and making me look at him.

"It's you! I don't know why but I like you! I got this disease because I didn't think that you liked me! I still don't and now I'm accepting my fate..." I pulled my face from his grip once it loosened, probably from shock. My face was pretty much a leaking pipe from how much tears were falling.

"Mario, look at me." He said sternly. I didn't dare to look at him, knowing rejection is coming. I even felt more flowers growing on my body.

He grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. I just closed my eyes. "Just say it..."

He sighed. "Fine... I like you too."

My eyes opened at that
"No you don't... How could you like me? I argue with you nearly everyday, I'm weak, I'm-" he completely cut me off... By attaching our lips together..

I was in total shock.

He- He likes me?! He actually likes me?!

It was a few seconds until my shock wore off and I kissed him back, relief flowing down my body. My body felt normal again and I didn't feel like coughing every 10 seconds.

Our kiss lasted a few minutes before we pulled away, panting and smiling, looking at each other in the eyes. Suddenly, I felt a tingle on my arms so I look down, David following my movements. The flowers were falling off of my skin and dissolving on the floor. My smile brightened.

And on cue... Michael!

"Well, at least you won't be down a member anymore." He mumbled but Bri heard it and slapped his head.

"Your guild will be down a leader if you don't shut up and stop ruining the moment." She scolded. He rubbed where Bri slapped him and smiled sheepishly at her.

We just laughed as I hugged David tightly, he instantly hugged back.

"Love you, Pebble-Brain." He whispered.

"Love you too, stupid icecube." I chuckled.

We just hugged as we watched Michael get scolded by Bri for 'ruining' her OTP moment and talking at the wrong moment. Then Ritchie tried defending Michael, wasn't successful, while Silver was defending his girlfriend, very successful. Then all hell broke loose when Brandon joined in... On Bri's side. Now he's defending the ship and his brother is arguing about not being on his side and... Yeah.

That was one crazy day.

A/N: I just realised that this story is literally 2495 words long... Without the author's notes -3-. I may have gone a little over the top. One short oneshot and one very long one :3.
