A/N: Hi, hello, wassup? So, this was requested by the lovely local assassin, ShiboNoAsashin, who wanted to see some Xylo x Mario :3. There may be a second part to this, seeing as I thought of ways we could add some certain characters to this. Obviously, the ship is Xylo x Mario, with some past Mario x Kaykrae. Also, thank you to toothepaste for roleplaying this with me and for helping with the story -w-.

(No one's POV)

Kaykrae didn't know what was happening. Mario and her had a great and healthy relationship... Or maybe that's just what she thinks. Lately, Mario had been hanging out with one of their friends, the son of hades Xylo, more than he had been hanging out with his own girlfriend. Some of the other campers even pointed out that it was kinda wrong for a counsellor to be dating a camper, and Kay could kinda agree to some extent.

She was walking around camp, thinking to herself that it would be easier if both of them just stayed friends. She may have loved Mario, but the lightning demigod started distancing himself from the snake lady. Kaykrae even felt herself falling a little out of love over the year that they were separated. Apparently, one of the campers said to her that Mario had a crush on Xylo, but Kaykrae didn't want to believe that as she thought that Mario wouldn't leave her.

Guess their suspicions were right when she found Xylo and Mario talking with each other, Mario having a small, barely noticable blush on his face as he laughs with Xylo.

Guess you could say Kaykrae was somewhat jealous of them both.

Kaykrae planned on confronting Mario on the supposed crush on their friend, Xylo. She would confront him about how much he hung out with him more than her. Also about how lively Mario is around Xylo, and not Kaykrae, his own girlfriend.

Today was the day Kaykrae was finally going to confront Mario, after alot of procrastination and work. The snake lady was currently slithering back and foward in her cabin."Hey, Kay. You called me?"Mario's voice rang out through her cabin as he opened the door to enter.

Kay looked at Mario, a face that says 'you have some explaining to do and we need to talk.' After Mario closed the door, Kaykrae ushered him towards the bed, gesturing for him to take a seat. Mario was a bit confused, but sat down nevertheless.

"So, what did ya need to talk about?" Mario asked, confused but also nervously. He kinda had an idea on what's coming, and he was kinda expecting it. Just not this soon. Kay was then standing in front of him, fiddling with her hands as she tried to bring out the words from her mind."Mario. I have noticed that you've been a bit distant with me and you have also been hanging out with the son of Hades, Xylo, more than you hang out with me. I'm you're girlfriend. Can you please explain?"

"H- He is just a great friend!"Mario spluttered out quickly.

Too quick, Kaykrae's eyes narrowed at him. Why would he lie to her. Mario almost never lies to her, his girlfriend. He usually told her everything, why would he lie to her now of all times?Even Mario doesn't have an answer to that question. He really doesn't know why he lied too. It came naturally trying to cover up that you have a crush on your best friend, while you girlfriend is questioning you.

"You know that was too quick of an answer. Seriously Mario, why would you lie to me? Your own girlfriend..." Kay mumbled the last part, looking away from the lightning bean who had just lied to him.

Mario had frowned a little, realising that him lying hurt Kay's feelings more than actually telling her the truth would have. He got up from the bed, and walked over to the snake female, hugging her tightly while explaining. "I'm sorry Kay, I thought lying would be the better option, but I guess it hurt you more than the truth would..."

Kaykrae thought for a moment before hesitantly hugging back. "It's fine I guess, but you still have to explain."

Mario sighed as he broke away from the hug, now fiddling with his own hands as he tried to explain the best that he could muster up. "O-Over the last year, while we've been separated, I've been thinking. I love you, Kay, I really do. Just, not in that kind of way I guess. When Xylo came back, I just was so happy I got my best friend back from the underworld so I started hangout with him more, you know? Just to catch up on somethings. But, the more we hung out, the more I kinda saw him like more than a friend..."

He looked up at Kaykrae with small little droplets gathering in his eyes, having the chance that Kay may take this badly. "I'm sorry Kay, I thought lying would help... I still want to be friends with you, but I understand if you don't want to be around me anymore..." He looked down as he felt the tears start to come out as they slowly rolled down his cheeks. He wiped them away, knowing he didn't have a reason to be crying.

Mario looked down in shame of lying and distancing himself from Kaykrae.Kay sighed, putting a hand on the currently crying son of Zeus," I understand, Mario. Don't worry. It's not your fault that we drifted apart. It's only natural." Mario lifted his glossy gaze of the floor to look at the snake lady.

"Uh, how should I put this," Kaykrae mumbled to herself," You weren't the only one falling out of the relationship. I was too. It was only a matter of time. But, of course! We can still be friends!"

Mario smiled slightly and wiped the rest of his tears away with the sleeves of his toga. "Th-Thank you, Kaykrae. I didn't know what I would do without you." The lightning child gave Kaykrae another hug as a way of saying thank you. They hugged for a while before they separated, but Mario was confused on why Kaykrae was looking at him with a smirk. Why? He had no fucking clue.

"Kaykrae? Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked, very confused when Kay's smirk just grew bigger. Kaykrae laughed light halfheartedly," Don't you have a certain, son of Hades, to get to?" The smirk still evident on her face.

Mario's face immediately blushed when he heard the son of hades being mentioned, god he had a bigger crush on him than he thought he did. "Oh shi- you're right!" He raced to the door, not before he turned around to face Kaykrae one more time. "You're honestly fine with this?"

Kaykrae's smirk shifted into more of a genuine smile, telling Mario truthfully. "Mario, it's alright. As long as we're friends and you're happy, I'm happy as well. Now, hurry up and get that son of hades! Make this fangirl proud UwU." Kaykrae literally made an UwU face. Mario nodded, smiling and blushing at the same time before he bolted (no pun intended) out the door and to where he said he would meet Xylo.

Xylo looked around the empty pool building, swaying his legs that were in the water. Mario was late to their meet up.'What mess did he get caught up into again?' He internally groaned, the tattoo man didn't want to save Mario from a awkward situation again. Xylo was about to get up, roll his pant sleeves down and look for Mario, but he was interrupted by the footsteps and pants of the one and only, Mario.

"Sorry I'm late!" Mario panted out, leaning against his knees as he tried to catch his breath. "Sorry, I was talking with Kaykrae."

"Oh, well, at least you're here now." Xylo smiled, happy that his cru-best friend made it to their meet-up. He will admit that he does have a 'small' crush on the lightning bean, but he won't admit it because the little bean person has a girlfriend. "I wouldn't miss it for the world!" Mario said slyly, taking off his shoes and rolling up his pants as he joined Xylo with dipping their feet in the refreshing water of the pool.

A comfortable silence crashed over them both.Until, Xylo made the move to bust the dam open."If you don't mind me asking, what did you and Kay talk about?"

Mario's posture became a bit more nervous, but also relieved about telling Xylo this. "Ummm, she wanted to talk about why I was spending more time with you than I was with her..."

"Well I mean, I had just gotten back from the underworld after one year down there so, I thought you just missed me. Wouldn't she understand that?" Xyloe asked confused, he knows how understanding Kay is, so she would've understood that Mario was away from his best friend for a year.

"Well she did, after a bit of explaining because she thought I was hanging out with you because I have a crush on you..." Mario said nervously, considering his crush was in front of him. It was true though, Mario was hanging out with Xylo more as he does like Xylo more than a friend

"Well that wouldn't be true. Kay's your girlfriend, and you love her, so you wouldn't cheat on her." Xylo said sadly. Knowing that Kay was Mario's girlfriend, he knew he would never have a chance with Mario, but he didn't have to worry about his love life. As long as Mario was happy, then that was all the son of hades needed.

"Well..." The son of Zeus looked down, the events previous to this moment replaying in his mind. "You see, me and Kay... we broke up..."

Cue a spit take from the one and only son of Hades, Xylo."Excuse me? That's a huge bombshell you just dropped here?!"

Mario chuckled slightly at Xylo's reaction, it was quite a big bombshell to drop.When Xylo had finally calmed down from his reaction, "So, why'd you guys break up? Was it because you were hanging out with me too much?" Xylo asked worriedly, wondering if he was the cause to the couple's break up from such a great relationship. Mario shook his head and smiled at the son of hades.

"No you're not. Kinda. Well, during the year you were gone, I went back home to my mom and step-dad. Kay stayed to mantain the camp and get it ready for the new campers. We were... distant for pretty much that entire time. I ended up falling in love with someone else and she fell out of love so, we decided that it would be best for us just to stay friends"

Guess you can say Xylo felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. He sighed,"Thank goodness I'm not responsible for a break up-" Wait, now that means Mario is single-

Mario giggled at Xylo, looking back at the water as he swishes his feet around the cooling water. He now thought to himself... Now that he didn't need to worry about hurting Kaykrae's feelings, he could finally admit to Xylo that he likes him. But the lightning bean was also afraid that Xylo was gonna reject him, thinking that Xylo thinks he was gonna use him to cover his break up.

Mario's smile turning to a sad frown, which didn't go unnoticed by the Xylo beside him.

"Mario? What's wrong?" Xylo asked worriedly, concerned for the sparky bean beside him. He gently placed a hand on Mario's shoulder as a way to comfort him. "Well... You know how I said I fell in love with someone else when I was with Kaykrae?" The son of hades just nodded his head slowly.

"Ummm... Gods, I-I hope this doesn't ruin anything." Xylo was about to ask Mario what's wrong again but he froze when the static bean quickly kissed him on the cheek before reverting back to looking at the water, now playing with his hands.

Time seemed to have paused for Xylo. Was he dreaming? Did Mario just kiss him on the cheek?? Xylo's thoughts were running wild while his hand cupped the cheek Mario pecked. "Wh- Why did you do that?"A genuine question came out of the son of Hades' mouth. He didn't mean it to come out like he didn't like the kiss.

"Oh gosh- I knew you wouldn't like me back!-" Mario panicked, trying to crumble into a ball of embarrassment. Mario hid his embarrassed face in his hands, trying not to panic or cry in front of Xylo.

He felt tears form in his eyed but he didn't want them to come out.Xylo snapped out of his blank state, finally realising how he worded that phrase. He frowned at the bean that he has caused to curl up on himself, so he reached over and hugged him."I didn't mean it to say it like that. I was just surprised. Mario, I do like you too."

The son of Zeus lifted his head from his hands to look at Xylo in disbelief. His eyes still glossed over with tears."Y- You.. do?"

Xylo reached over and grabbed Mario's chin, lifting it gently so that the son of hades' grape purple eyes were staring directly into the son of zeus' dark chocolate brown eyes. "I love you, Mario. I really do~" Then Xylo finalised it by connecting his lips with Mario's, closing his eyes in the process. Mario was shocked slightly, his crush liked him back, he couldn't believe it. After a moment of fantasising over his crush liking him back, Mario kissed back happily, wrapping his arms around Xylo's neck.

And Mario could barely walk the next day :D
