The Winter Break had come to an end. Sadly, it was time to get back to the so-called "school" or in simple words, hell.
Haru was getting ready. She hurtled around her lonely apartment, her cat trying to keep up with her. Already on her first day back to university, she just happened to wake up late. Nothing unusual coming from a sleepyhead like her.
Once Haru was finally dressed, she threw her backpack over her shoulder. 'Bye-bye, Yeongi.' she simpered gently, bidding her cat goodbye after making sure she had left him water and food.
Haru was a Starbucks lover. It was convenient in her opinion because, despite the cost, you could have your coffee while walking to school and it made you feel full. She decided to go there in hopes of getting her day a congenial start.
She went for a "Mocha Frappuccino Cookie Crumble" and proceeded with her journey towards the university. The only thing that annoyed her about her favourite coffee place was the long-ass names they came up with for drinks.
Were they trying to be poetic? Shakespeare who?
By the time Haru had reached the main gate, she had already drunk all of her coffee, so she threw away the paper cup along with the straw.
When she entered the huge building, her eyes were quick to land on a certain male that outshone everyone with his minty-green hair. A plain, black backpack was draped over his right shoulder as he stared at his phone, using his thumb to scroll through Instagram. A bored expression coated his face.
Haru couldn't help the tiny smile that crept up her lips at the sight of her best friend. 'Yoongi! Min Yoongi!' she shouted excitedly, making some people glance at her weirdly.
You see, Yoongi was known to be a solitary man; a remarkably reserved guy. So some people found the sight of him smiling back at her outlandish. People in this world are very nosy and always asked the two if they were a couple, or how could it be possible that "The Min Yoongi" had feelings.
A little grin made its way on Yoongi's thin, light pink lips as he saw Haru's figure bouncing up and down, excited to see him after the long break. They hadn't seen each other in person for a whole month since Haru had gone to her grandmother's house. Her parents and sister were there as well since they came to Korea for the holidays.
Meanwhile, Yoongi had gone to his hometown, Daegu, to spend some time with his family as well, so all they did was text and video call each other a few times a week.
Haru ran up to her best friend and pulled him into a tight hug. For a second, she had forgotten Yoongi's scorn towards skinship. Nevertheless, he hugged her back. 'Okay, okay, enough. Now get off! You are gonna strangle me... crazy girl,' Yoongi chuckled as she unlatched her arms from his neck.
'Come on! Say it, say it, say it!' Haru bounced excitedly, clenching her fists cutely as she tried to squeeze a certain sentence out of Yoongi's mouth. Something that he wouldn't usually admit. Her friend scrunched his nose, pretending not to know what she was talking about.
'Oh come on! I'll hug you really really tight if you don't! I'll also kiss your cheek!' she threatened and Yoongi rolled his eyes, leaning down to look at her in the eyes. He didn't have to bend that much. Haru wasn't that short, Yoongi simply enjoyed being the taller one, and, in her opinion, he showed off about it a little too much.
He suddenly grabbed the back of her neck, pulling her closer by a mere inch, a mischievous grin making its way onto his face. 'Come on do it. If you'll have the courage to do it, I'll say it,' he challenged, and although Haru was flustered, her eyes lit up with determination. She quickly pecked his cheek and leant back with a slight blush covering her cheeks.
'Aish! You actually did it!' Yoongi whined, wiping his cheek in disgust.
'Yeah, I did! Now, say it! You can't just break your promise like that! Please, please!' Haru grabbed his arm and shook it.
Anyone who would've passed by the pair would've stared at them with heart-eyes because of how cute the scene seemed. However, of course, that was not the case, they were just best friends. Nothing more.
'Okay fine.' he huffed, crossing his arms in annoyance. 'First of all, for this, you owe me lunch and second of all, I missed you. I, Min Yoongi, the most fly and the sexiest human in this world, admit that I missed my ugly, bothersome but cute best friend, okay? Happy?'
'Yay! I missed you too, Lil' Meow Meow!' she circled her arms around his neck once again, 'you are so cringy though... I don't think that will ever change about you.' Haru scrunched her nose as she let Yoongi, who beamed cheekily, go.
'Hey! Didn't I tell you that you can never call me that in public!' Yoongi's cheeks turned a light shade of pink when he realised that Haru had called him by that nickname. And the worst part was that someone could've heard it.
'Aw, is my Lil' Meow Meow blushing?' Haru teased, pinching his cheek while trying not to cringe at her own words. He looked at her with an irritated expression and she nodded. 'Okay, calm your nerves down, Mister! Let us get to math before we are tardy!' she joked whilst wrapping her arm around Yoongi's shoulder and forcing him to go to Professor Yang's lecture.
'I really hate this university and just the thought of school in general,' Yoongi mumbled, throwing his head back in exasperation as Haru sat beside him in the huge lecture hall. The sound of Mr Yang talking about random numbers and symbols was just an insignificant and vexatious hubbub to his ears. All the poor man wanted was sleep.
Suddenly, the door flung open, revealing a guy that no one seemed to have seen before. A newbie probably; one that had caught Haru's attention. The young man looked handsome from head to toe, however, his eyes were the main element that had her hooked.
His brown orbs were like the night: dark and deep, mysterious and alluring. They came off almost as sinister. Like he was an intruder. Although his eyes were cryptic, everything else about him looked angelic—what a contrast.
The bloke had soft blonde hair, plump lips and a nose shaped so cutely that you'd think it belongs to a baby. Not to mention the fact that he wore a white sweater. It only added to his resemblance to an angel. His overall appearance was practically ethereal.
'I apologise for being late, I had a hard time figuring where the class was since my locker is quite far from here... um, I am new.' the boy bowed apologetically at Mr Yang and the teacher nodded, signalling him to take a seat somewhere.
Haru's heart pounded even harder after hearing the guy's silvery voice.
Was he an actual angel?
'It's alright, I always forgive new students on their first week. I hope you get used to this huge place soon. Please introduce yourself.' Mr Yang smiled, making Yoongi unable to hold himself back from rolling his eyes. He had always thought the professor was bipolar: he was nice for the students' first week and then became a living nightmare.
But aren't we all a little bipolar?
Plus, what was the point of getting introduced in a class as big as that? No one was going to remember who you were anyway. But, maybe for that guy, there would be an exception. He was incredibly attractive, in fact, Yoongi had noticed the way that his friend was staring at the guy. She had literal heart-eyes, and if that wasn't enough, her jaw hung open.
All flies welcomed, Yoongi thought to himself.
'Hello, my name's Park Jimin, I am twenty-five years old, I hope we can get along well.' Jimin bowed to the whole class once again and looked around for a second, probably contemplating where should he sit. He noticed an empty spot beside a girl who was not bothering to hide her attraction towards him—not that she was the only one.
An inconspicuous smirk spread over Jimin's thick lips as his legs automatically dragged him to the empty seat beside her. His wicked yet subtle smirk morphed into a cute smile to seem more chummy as he sat down. 'Hey, I'm Jimin,' he greeted her, reintroducing himself as he extended a hand for a shake.
Haru gladly returned the handshake. Her lips almost turned in a cartoonish, distorted line as she begged her heart to calm down. It was beating so quick that one would've thought she had just run a marathon. 'Hey, I am Do Haru. It's a pleasure to have you here.' she grinned back, trying to look as welcoming as possible to make an impression on him.
'Oh, thank you very much. I too, am glad to meet you. I hope you can be my first friend in here,' Jimin said rather innocently as he scratched the nape of his neck.
'Sure, no worries! If you'd like, we can have lunch together?' she suggested and Jimin gladly accepted. He must've been oblivious to the way that Haru's heart soared at the positive response.
Oh, how fluttered was the doltish girl.
