"Long ago, a sailor by the name of Elijah Swann was travelling through the North Sea when his ship crashed upon an Ancient Island of creatures known to mythology as Sirens. These beings were one of gender fluidity, their presence typically took the fantasy of a sailor's desired wish. However, one of these Sirens was named Eudora and for the first time in history, she found a man with whom she desired for more than hunger─ more than lust. And so, Eudora didn't lure him to the water, she went to him and over many nights, Eudora and Elijah spoke of their dreams and lives finding their hearts soon beating as one...

...Eudora wished to leave the Island and ocean she was bound to and so, she went to the Sea Goddess, Calypso with her pleas. The beautiful goddess of glowing ebony skin and eyes as rich as the soil of the Island. Though Calypso was bound to one man, one of whom she denied her presence for he loved the sea more than she, her blessing had come with a true test of love. Elijah would have to walk the Siren's Song and not be lured to the caves below. And to prove himself, he shared a soft kiss with Eudora ─ a silent promise ─ and wandered towards the true test that Calypso believed he would fail...

...But to Calypso's surprise and Eudora's awe, Elijah had not been tempted by the Siren's song nor their temptress presence. He claimed that no beauty was as pure as Eudora's heart and soul. With their love proven, Calypso blessed Eudora the joy of becoming a landwalker. She and others like her who too found love soon created a small community by the shores alongside the Druids who welcomed them. As time went by, these women evolved into creatures known as Lute Sirens who held a stronger bond with nature and humans. These creatures became protectors, maternal women with healing capabilities...

...Eudora and Elijah were wed and had many children to fill the air with joy and laughter. Over the years, these Lute Sirens hid in the evolving society unnoticeable to the eye. But they remained pure beings with no lust for pain or harm towards others unless truly provoked. And that, my little seahorse, is the importance of who we are. But you are too young to understand it, however, you will one day..." Andrea Miller spoke softly as she held her baby girl in her arms, rocking lightly in the chair sitting in the nursery she had painted to match the ocean; an Island on one side with what people would call mermaids hanging about on the rocks and the shore.

"She's barely three months old, Andrea, why are you telling her bedtime stories?" Damien Portman asked his wife, he leaned on the door frame with his arms crossed watching as Andrea spoke softly to their daughter. "They are important stories, Damien... ones that my mother told me, her mother told her, and so on," Andrea remarked as she stood up and walked towards the bassinet adding, "And babies are smarter than you think. She'll be a clever little girl, she needs the stories in her life for both truth and imagination." Damien sighed before running his hand down his face, "We talked about this, Andrea. Normal life, that was the agreement."

Andrea ignored her husband's words, she knew normal was not what life had in store for her child. "There's nothing wrong with stories... she's just sleeping to my voice, so don't be so worried," Andrea remarked as she stepped back and sat back in the chair, running her fingers through her hair and looking up at her husband. "Will you be working late again?" Andrea asked, her heart sunk slightly knowing the truth of what her husband was doing. "Yes, I will. I gotta go, Kate, Jason and Karina are waiting," Damien answered, he walked over and kissed the top of his wife's head, "I'll see you tomorrow." Andrea gave him a half-hearted wave as he left the room.

"Oh, little seahorse... I pray to Calypso that when you grow up that you find a man that will love you and only you as this pain is..." Andrea trailed off as she leaned back and turned her head to look at the ceiling, "Sometimes I wonder if Eudora questioned her choice to be with Elijah... if she questioned her love and worth to the man... or maybe she never dealt with that because... he only saw her and no one else. Make sure, little seahorse, that you find someone like that── someone who will see you and only you. Don't waste your time chasing after someone who doesn't appreciate you, find the one who will yearn for you." Andrea shook her head, "I'll always be here, Jasmine... always."

ᯓ★ ROSE IS SPEAKING ୭˚. ᵎᵎ

Welcome to the rewrite I randomly hyperfixated on cause of my perfectionist mind despite this not be as perfect as my brain wished it to be.

Anyway, we'll be trying to do better insight and depth to details. Plus, I have a sharper idea of what my goal is with this story.

Do you have any questions?

See you in the next chapter!
