1.3 | Creating Her Safe Space

─────────── ୨•ৎ ───────────
It was Sunday morning and Jasmine was standing in the doorway of the room she had chosen for herself on the second floor of Jordan's home. The room was a perfect square and from the doorway, to her left, there was a sliding balcony door that opened up to the small balcony where she already planned to decorate into a reading spot due to the awning that covered it from the weather. There was a normal window directly across from the doorway leaving the right wall completely bland as it stood between her room and the upstairs bathroom that she had pretty much claimed as Jordan had a bedroom downstairs.
Jasmine and Jordan got into his truck and headed to the local mall in order to buy a bunch of furniture and accessories for her room; she was glad that she inherited a lot of money from her mother and those before her. Jordan simply remained the muscle for Jasmine as she shopped till she felt ready to drop, it was fun for the two as they hadn't spent time together in a long time. Jordan had always been more like an older brother to Jasmine rather than a cousin, he was always protective over her and did his best to teach her kindness and self-love. And to see the smile on her face as she dragged him around the mall was more than enough.

In the right corner of the bedroom, Jordan had placed the put together Four Poster King Bed before Jasmine attached the blue sheer curtains to the poles creating a more private space for her; the bed was covered with four blankets as Jasmine's core temperature made her cooler and typical to get cold easier. At the end of her bed sat a two-seater grey couch, in front of it was a TV cabinet that she had filled with little knick knacks that had been left to her as heirlooms from the family such as porcelain seashells, ceramic dolphins and sharks, and some cute bits and pieces that reminded her of the ocean. Her room had a pale blue tinge in the paint, it felt like a calming space.
As Jordan set up the television he bought for her along with the dvd player and speakers, Jasmine focused on setting up her desk against the window so that when you entered the room, the desk was the first thing you'd see. It felt like each piece they added to the room, Jasmine felt more and more at home; something she hadn't felt since before her mother disappeared. With her computer set up, her Flounder paperweight sitting on the desk that Victoria had given her a few years prior as a birthday gift. Jordan then moved on to set up to the sets of drawers on either side of the balcony doors while Jasmine hung her new blue curtains above the sliding doors.
A fluffy blue rug sat in the middle of the room, posters of her favourite movies were pinned to the walls along with a corkboard that would be filled with photos once everything else was done. Jordan moved on to the single bookshelves that would sit either side of the desk while Jasmine began unpacking her clothes and sorting it between the drawers. The two had been talking randomly about all kinds of topics, their former bond was strengthening once again and Jasmine knew she was where she was meant to be. By the time they had finished setting up Jasmine's room, the sun had gone done on the Sunday and they both headed downstairs to order dinner.

After dinner, Jasmine headed up the stairs and grabbed her bathroom supplies before heading in to the space and locking the door behind her. She felt exhausted from the days work but also relieved to be away from the house her father ruled. Her reflection stared back at her once she finished setting up her skincare basket along with placing her shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower with her pink loofah. She pulled the oversized hoodie she had been wearing off to reveal her in a cropped shirt underneath, she tossed the hoodie into the hamper in the corner of the bathroom that had a shower, bathtub and a basin; the toliet was in its own separate space.
Jasmine lightly placed her hands onto her stomach, she couldn't stop thinking about the fact there was a baby growing within her from one moment with obviously the wrong person. Based on the ultrasound she had done with Dr Matherson, she was just four months along which meant that the baby was due early summer. "Thank goodness you'll be here before summer truly hits," Jasmine muttered sweetly, "I remember Aunt Jessica saying being pregnant during the hot weather was a nightmare." Jasmine laughed softly remembering how Jessica teased Natasha for existing during summer and not waiting a little longer to show up.
"I promise, little fish, that you will always be loved and cherished," Jasmine whispered as she lightly rubbed her thumb against her stomach, her heart felt warm as she continued, "This world can be unforgiving at times, dark even, but its beauty is out there waiting for you to find it. And I'll be there every step of the way, guiding you and teaching you. I love you, little fish." Jasmine smiled sweetly before running through her nightly routine, showering and brushing her teeth before heading into her room and switching off the lights to settle into her large soft bed. It felt like her entire body was at complete ease as she snuggled deep into the blankets, reaching out she grabbed her large whale shark plushy and pulled it close to her chest letting sleep overcome her.

Jordan got up early Monday morning, he had a goal set in mind; learn everything he needed to know about pregnancy and babies. And so, he decided to speak to someone who was bound to be more helpful than anyone else, Melissa McCall. Leaving Jasmine to sleep in, Jordan left her a note in case she woke up before his return and headed off for Beacon Hills Hospital in hopes to speak with the nurse herself. He hadn't shared too many conversations with Melissa but the few he did was often about Scott and Stiles and the strange mischief they seem to get into which often included the two lurking around crime scenes.
He walked into the building spotting Melissa talking to Scott and Stiles, both were seemingly pouting as they held up a teenage boy who was clearly in pain. "Hey, Nurse McCall," Jordan greeted gaining the attention of Scott and Stiles instantly. "Hi, deputy. Can I help you?" Melissa asked as she turned her mildly disappointed stare from her son to the man who she gave a professional smile. "I was wondering if you were free to talk?" Jordan questioned before glancing back at the three teens watching him, "If not, I can come back another time." Melissa sighed before saying, "Let me organise this one and then we can talk." Jordan nodded before offering assistance though Melissa politely assured it was fine.
Jordan waited while the younger boy was admitted and settled in to his room leaving Scott and Stiles lurking outside near the deputy who sent a quick message to Jasmine who had reached out asking for him to pick up watermelon on his way home as she was craving some. "Deputy Parrish, right?" Scott questioned politely having remembered in the moment that he was related to the new girl in town. "Yes, Scott. We've met a few times," Jordan replied with a chuckle turning his focus to the two teens as he slipped his phone into his pocket. "How is Jasmine settling in?" Stiles asked curiously, his eyes seemed to light up at the mention of the brunette.
"She's settling in nicely. I think she's a little anxious about starting at school though," Jordan answered him, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm sure she'll be fine. Lydia's already heard about her and she's ready to help her feel welcome," Scott assured Jordan. Scott had already talked to Lydia about Jasmine, the plan was to have Lydia be a friend of hers that kept her safe and distant from their world with her quick witted excuses. "Well, that's great to hear. Jasmine's a bit of social butterfly so she'll be happy to make new friends," Jordan told the two boys as Melissa approached with a tired smile. "Okay, how can I be of service?" Melissa asked Jordan who rubbed the back of his neck.
"It's about my cousin, Jasmine... she's just learnt that she's pregnant and I... have no idea what to do in order to help her so I was hoping if you have time, we can talk?" Jordan asked sheepishly while Melissa's smile shifted from tired to joyful. "How old is she?" Melissa asked next. "She's seventeen, she'll be eighteen in a month," Jordan answered with a slight frown before adding, "But she's always wanted to be a mom, just wasn't expecting it so early on." Melissa hummed in understanding while Scott and Stiles were immediately hit with a single question, did she have a boyfriend? Thankfully, they would learn the answer fairly quickly.
"Is the father of the baby involved? Surely that's difficult for two teenagers," Melissa expressed, she absolutely loved being a mother but she knew how hard it can be to raise a child alone. "Uh, he's not involved... even called her baby a thing he wanted nothing to do with," Jordan replied clenching his jaw, he wanted to punch Xayden in the face but knew that it wouldn't help the situation in any way. Even Scott and Stiles were personally affected by the words, both wanting to make the deadbeat baby daddy hurt for abandoning Jasmine and the baby. "Let's take this into the office," Melissa offered before sending the two teenage boys a subtle glare as she noticed Scott's eyes glow red for a moment.
"It's gonna suck keeping our distance, huh?" Stiles spoke up as they walked towards the exit. "We don't even know why we feel this pull to her and until we do, it's better to stay away. Deaton is looking into it so for now, we focus on this situation," Scott reminded Stiles who sighed and agreed, the two said bye as Stiles had promised to help Malia with her math homework. Scott settled into a seat by the young injured boys room, his mind reeling between what had happened on the Lacrosse field and the new girl in town who had caught his attention in a way that Allison never really did. He shook that away and focused on the situation at hand, Deaton was finding answers so he needed to leave it be for now.

ᯓ★ HELLO, MY BRIGHT STARS ୭˚. ᵎᵎ
I know... "why did rose have so much detail for jasmine's room?" Because I can and I wanted too... its important for me!
Anywho, more depth and bonding between Jasmine and Jordan in this short filler chapter. The next one is her first day at Beacon Hills... on a Tuesday!
( also, I'm messing with the timeline a little so don't rely on the canon timeline for this fic )
How are we feeling about the story?
I've been obsessing over Kpop Demon Hunters so my initial focus was broken by tik tok edits of my husband, Baby Saja.... plus, I'm planning fanfics for each of the Saja Boys minus Jinu... (haven't got one for him yet).
See you in the next chapter!
