"Oh, good God." Cass mutters to herself as her, Bellamy, Butcher and M.M. all listen to Hughie and Starlight's conversation through their air pods, occupying the balloon-dart booth. "Mmm." Cass hums at Starlight's words, taking a sip of her cherry-limeade twist. "Someone just got friend-zoned." M.M. gazes over at her for a moment, shaking his head.

Hughie joins them in the crowd as Ezekiel takes the stage and Cass raises a judgy brow at the crowd. These people are part of a fucking cult, she thinks to herself.

The topic of God and believing always intrigued her growing up, and she always thought there something, someone out there. But after the incident... she gave up on all of it. Gave up on believing, gave up on 'God', or whoever was out there, screwing her over. They didn't give a fuck, so why should she? She admired people whose faith was strong enough to carry them through this hellhole on earth, but she couldn't be bothered anymore.

Not when she begged and cried to God for days upon end. Asking why... why her? Why them? What did she do to deserve this? What did those poor, innocent girls do to deserve-

Cass swallows harshly, suddenly feeling like breathing was more of a challenge than simple human nature.

'Bad people do bad things.' Right. Exactly. So now? Now that she was left breathing? Cassius Mallory gets to be that person that does bad things and rein hell and torture. Cause she no longer gives a fuck. No longer has anything to live for. She gave that up long ago.

People like this? At these events? Fuckin' freaks.

Butcher scans the crowd cheering at Ezekiel's words, his face full of judgment too. "Two twats at every entrance, armed to holy hell. In church." He states quietly to them. "Well, that's America for you, isn't it?" Cass snorts as Bellamy crosses his arms, staying quiet as he looks at men strapped with guns, wishing he was back with Frenchie and The Female instead.

"And God's watching from up above. Right there." M.M. murmurs, raising his hand to his chin he points with his pinkie to the security camera. "Over there." He looks behind him.

"Yeah. Security's tighter than a choir boy's asshole." Butcher sighs.

"So let me ask you something." Ezekiel says to the crowd. "Why did Jesus walk on water? Why does Homelander fly? How about A-Train, why does he get to run the way he runs?" The crows claps, cheering away as Ezekiel stretches his arms out across the stage and they grow louder. "Or how do I get to hold the whole world in my loving embrace? Why were we chosen?" Cause God's funny and like's to play games? Cass answers to herself, looking unimpressed at the unnaturally stretched prick on the stage. "Because of the Lord." Ezekiel says, bringing his arms back in. "Because we were born with his power. Because we believe!"

Bellamy sighs through his nose boredly, not buying any of the bullshit Ezekiel is saying.

"$15,000 for an exclusive VIP experience with Ezekiel." Hughie reads the hand out before looking up at Bellamy. "Seriously?" Butcher nods, taking of, the rest following. "There's not an easier way for us to get to him?"

"Do you think anything we do is easy?" Cass looks at him flatly as she steps around him.

"We ain't getting to Ezekiel." Butcher tells him. "You are." He grips Hughie's shoulder.

"I am?" Hughie's eyes widen a bit, shocked.

"Woah, woah, wait." M.M. cuts in. "What?"

"Who decided this?" Cassius asks, having little faith in the lanky, tech boy.

"Makes sense for him to go." Bellamy speaks up.

"Mhmm." Butcher nods. "Starlight's one of the headliners, right?"

"Wait-" Hughie tries.

"She'll get you in." Butcher finishes.

"Woah." Hughie chuckles, waving his hands in front of him. "Look, we've only been on, like, a date and a half, okay?"

"So?" Cassius eyes him up and down. He seemed like the type to propose to a girl after a week.

"I can't just ask her for a Diamond Club Pass." Hughie says. Bellamy sighs, knowing there would be push back.

What's the matter?" Butcher takes his glasses off to look at him. "You worried your fake Supe girlfriend's gonna think you're using her?"

"Okay, then what?" Hughie bites, looking between Bellamy and Butcher. "I just go up to Ezekiel, 'Hey, man. What's up with you smuggling blue dope into Chinatown basements?'"

Cass shrugs. "Sounds like getting to straight to the point to me."

M.M. glances at her out of the corner of his eye before giving Butcher and Bellamy a look.

"Yeah, pretty much." Butcher agrees. "Once you show him this." He flips his phone around to Hughie showing him a video of Ezekiel in between two guys, kissing one of them before moving to the other one.

"Jesus." Hughie quickly grabs the phone and pulls his jacket around the side of it as M.M. and Cass lean over to look.

"This is from that club you took me to?" Hughie looks up at Butcher.

"Supe's club." Bellamy says, though he wasn't there he's already knew and saw the footage before he went to grab Cass to leave.

"You remembered our first night together. I'm touched." Butcher retorts sarcastically.

"Okay, why is this the first time I'm hearing about this plan?" M.M. speaks up.

"Mmm, my thoughts exactly." Cassius chimes in, though she had no problem throwing Hughie to the wolves, she would still like to be informed about it.

"This kid needs to be trained up, Bellamy. Butcher." M.M. voices his concern.

"Yeah. Yeah, what he said." Hughie jumps to agree. "I-I don't know how to blackmail anybody."

Cass sighs, eyeing her fingernails. "Nobody does until they do it, then it'll be just like loading a gun." She glances up at him. "Like second nature."

"Hughie, you've done a murder." Butcher whispers, stepping closer. "Comparatively speaking, this will be a piece of cake." And with that he takes off.

"He's shit at pep talks, but he's right." Bellamy voices, kicking dirt around with his boot, heading in Butcher's direction, avoiding a certain blonde as he does.

Hughie turns to M.M. who throws his hands up. "I know. I know." He pats his arm before him and Cass follow in pursuit, Cass keeping her gaze on the ground as she does.

"You better untense those shoulders or you're gonna be sorry later." M.M. warns her, noticing the vein popping out of her neck in strained anger.

She scoffs, rolling her eyes. "If lover boy back there royally fucks this up, I won't have to worry much about later, will I?"

M.M. can't help but nod as he falls in pace behind her.

Hey, heyyyy!! Welcome back to Moronic Morosisss!!

Sorry for not updating last week after just getting back into the swing of things lol, I wasn't home for half the week & then there was Thanksgiving lmao, but we're backkkk!!

I really enjoyed getting into Cass's view so much this chapter, & I really feel like it explains her so much as a character. There are so many tropes when it comes to this subject & the character who's given up on God because they something bad happened to them will do it for me every time because holy shitttt does it gut meeee....

Anywaysss, I know there wasn't much Bell this chap, but my girl Cass deserved a chap to take front & center & shine so it's okay lol, her commentary cracks me up lmao.

Well I hope y'all enjoyed this chappp!! I have SUCH a good TikTok post idea for tonight so if you wanna run on over & check it outttt, 0butterbiscuit!! Don't forget to comment your thoughts, questions, & reactionsss!! And until next time ;)
