Words

Evanescent glow on swirling ripples

Gentle rain from clouds drizzle

Tintinnabulation of ringing bells

Where ethereal serenity dwells

Sweet scents of earthy petrichor

Sun-dappled waves beyond the sea-shore

Soothing susurration of autumn leaves

The red-gold sight wondrous to be perceived

Enigmatic whispers of gentle zephyrs

Cool as winter, light as feathers

The celestial darkness, a caliginous abyss

Hypnotic, oh embrace me with a mysterious kiss

With these words of beauty and eloquence

Have I created a poem of elegance?

A/N

This is rather different than what I am used to writing, due to the fact that it was written as an assignment for a writing course at school and my usual style doesn't really fit the requirements. The assignment was inspired by Steven Turner's "Words I Like", and we had to compile a list of  favorite words and somehow piece them into a poem, which might explain why this lacks the darker(?) atmosphere of my other poems. Even so, I learnt that I keep reusing similar imagery and I really have to change that up a bit.

What did you think? Do you like my usual poems more or should I write more of this kind? Please comment if possible, they really help me improve!
