Blast that pesky man is back

     to buy another mince pie

Can I gauge his mood today

     from small glint within his eye

Today he wears a blue suit

     with a constellation tie

I walk up to him and smile

     and give him a little "Hi"

A blitz of conversation,

     my mind sags with his word drain

Talks of his ocean travels

     watched albatross soar in wild rain

Wish for an aspirin tablet

     to help me deal with head pain

Finally asks for mince pie

     relief from frequent bane

Wishing for an elixir

     to slip within his mince pie

Magic to limit his words

     when I am before his eye

I shake my head with a smile

     and let out a little sigh

For today this pesky man

     surprised me with a new buy

Put in a standing order

     each week for twenty-five pies
