Spring Peeks
I will not complain
Of the cold spring rain
Nor of muddy boots
For I spy green shoots
As I softly plod
Daffodil heads nod
Birds explode from ground
Step back from wing sound
Violets edge brown lawn
Seed heads almost gone
Birds have picked them clean
No more seeds to glean
Brown twigs hung with dew
Purple shoots snake through
In about four weeks
Chartreuse flowers peek
Garden drinks spring rain
End to winter reign
Plants are waking up
Soon my eyes will sup
