Blowing snow

Of brown doe

Look up quick

Soaring hawk

See squirrels dive

Hide in rocks

Lake has froze

Skaters fly

Across ice

Jumping high

Hike to lodge

Way up lake

Where we stop

Eat grilled steak

As we tromp

Back to town

Throw snowballs

Laugh and clown

As day dims

Hear wolves howl

Far away

Pack mates prowl

Reach our home

Fire flares

Sidle close

As we dare

Warm our bones

Eat hot soup

Cuddle close

Eyelids droop

Outside cold

Snowflakes fall

As we dream

Of spring thaw
