Seasons in the Garden
Winter's grip is hanging on
Gardeners watch the sky and wait
Praying cold will soon be gone
Hoping spring will not be late
Crocus signal spring is near
Robin sits upon wood gate
Daffodils rise up to peer
Birds are singing, finding mates
Cold rain soaks the garden soil
Sun shines down and soil warms up
It's time for gardeners to toil
Hours pass by before they sup
Seeds are dropped into a line
Cover, water, then the wait
There is no reason to whine
Even when the seeds sprout late
Mother Nature has the knack
To make up time when needed
Plants grow fast and gardeners whack
To keep green garden weeded
Flowers pop, bees pollinate
Veggies, fruit and seeds appear
Gardener rests against wood gate
Sipping on a cold root beer
As the heat of summer wanes
It's time to start the picking
Looking to the sky for rain
Work fast cause time keeps ticking
Harvest done and gardens fade
Tree leaves turn gold, red and brown
Birds of every color raid
Eating seeds cast on the ground
Hear the geese honk overhead
Frost arrives, winter is near
Gardener crawls into warm bed
Dreams of gardens for next year
