Songbirds trill for mates

As red dawn peeks out

Nature's music grand

Chases facial pout

Fill bird feeders full

Spread bread crumbs around

Sit down for bird show

Hungry creatures bound

Squirrel jumps from near branch

Grabs wire feeder shield

Flips down to green ground

Hunts for seed nut yield

Mourning doves drop by

Peck ground for seed treat

Gentle coos grace ears

Love soft morning greet

Wind shakes green tree leaves

Waving leafy hands

Rustle in hello

Thunder rolls cross land

Gray clouds rolling in

Sunlight fades to gray

Rain will soon sweep in

Until then I'll stay

Rabbit with white patch

On his rear left haunch

Nibbles at green weeds

Til loud squawks cause launch

Straight up in to air

Bunny body bounce

Eyeballs noisy bird

Laugh at fluffy flounce

Then a doe strolls out

Browsing near wood's edge

Fawns race through my yard

Mother dines on hedge

Bird squabble ensues

Feathers fly with fight

Rabbit lopes away

Deer tail signals flight

Then I hear small plops

Rainfall has begun

Time to leave my post

Wait for peeking sun
