Goodbye Summer
Last week of October
It's seventy-five degrees
Fading leaf tree branches
Are whipping with the breeze
Feels like early summer
But looking more like fall
Somersaulting brown leaves
Drift in a mounding ball
Squirrels race through bushy ground
Loud racket through dry leaves
Sounds like running person
But only rodent thieves
Stealing many peanuts
They leave tan shells on deck
Birds are very tidy
They leave not one shell speck
Black spiders hang from roof
Toys spinning in the wind
Halloween is coming
Watch little guy's wide grin
Temperature is dropping
Storm clouds are rolling in
Rain will hit the roof top
When bed sheet drapes my skin
Say goodbye to summer
You stayed so very long
But I'm ready to sing
Cool autumn weather songs
