~2: Pain~
Lyra watched as Lois Quezon was declared soon to be the Luna. For the past two weeks, she has been cooped up inside her room, avoiding everyone and only going out when she needs to eat. She stared outside the window holding the curtain up above her head, Lyra sighed. She could only hope that Ignacios will be happy with his chosen mate.
In truth, Lyra wanted to stab the she wolf that stole her mate. But she couldn't bring herself to do it. She knew better. She might be a juvenile but she's not stupid. In fact Lyra was one of the smartest she wolves in their generation. She had aspired to become a doctor or healer someday in hopes to find a cure for her late mother and father's sickness.
She continued to stare at the couple happily conversing with each other. Her mind was clouded by the thought of her future. How was she suppose to survive without her mate? A bitter laugh left her lips as she let the curtain fall, disconnecting her gaze to the couple.
She sighed and looked down her hands. She held a double edged silver knife.
It would be so easy if she strikes her heart. It'll be in and out.
She held the knife and positioned it to strike her heart. She heaved.
'1 , 2 , 3' she counted.
She plunged the knife into her lower abdomen. She hissed at the burning pain. To her it was no longer pain, inflicting pain to herself felt like drugs. She loved the feeling and she didn't care. She's been doing it for the last week and wounds always healed.
She smiled and a chuckle escaped her lips as she stared at her hands. She just couldn't do it, she can't end her life with her own hands. Thick blood oozed from the wound as she pulled out the knife. She closed her eyes and adjusted herself on her seat letting the pleasure seep in.
Euphoria!
That's what she felt. Before she could fall to oblivion, she heard something crack. And she was pretty sure it was her heart.

Lyra awoke from her slumber when she heard a knock on the door. It was an urgent kind of knock but she reluctantly propelled herself from her seat.
"Coming!" Lyra screamed, irritated at the person at the other side of the door.
Turning the knob, she slowly opened the door, it revealed a dashing brunette with chiseled features and a strong stare and it was Ignacios' younger brother, Felix.
"By god Lyra! You reek of your own blood!" Felix exclaimed taking in the view. Lyra's shirt was covered in blood and holes. Her hair was a tangled mess making it look like a lion's mane. She looked shattered.
Lyra handed the silver knife to Felix. His eyes widened. Where did she got this? He thought to himself.
"Lyra! You know a wound from a silver knife will leave scars! Do you even hear me?" Felix almost shouted.
Lyra groaned and turned so her back would face Felix. She didn't want to look at those gray eyes of his, it reminded her of her mate's eyes.
"Listen to me Lyra! Stop this at once!" Felix says almost screaming. "You'll go insane if you continue this little charade of yours!"
Lyra faced him, she was steaming and wanted to kick Felix bellow the belt. "Listen here you jerk! You don't know how I feel! You're so inconsiderate forcing me what to do and not what to do. Go piss yourself!" She screamed full force at Felix.
Felix seemed unfazed. Instead of leaving, he snorted.
"Oh look at me, I'm Lyra and I cry because I got rejected, la te da doodle le do! Oh boo hoo! I'm a suicidal bitch who only thinks of herself!" Felix hissed.
As the words left his mouth Lyra was already on the floor sobbing.
"That's it! Cry, cry like the bitch you are! Have you even considered me or my feelings? How do you think how I or Ned would feel if you killed yourself?" Instead of answering, Lyra continued to sob.
Felix knelt down in front of Lyra and placed his forehead on hers. "Do you know how it would feel if I lose my little sister? It would drive me crazy."
The room fell silent. Only Lyra's sobs can be heard. Felix hushed her and kissed both sides of her temple. "I love you Ly, please don't let my brother's stupidity be hindrance for your future." he sighed and pushed aside strands of her auburn hair. "Please, I don't wanna lose my little sister." He sobbed along with Lyra. "And poor Ned would be left alone with no one to take care of him."
With a heavy breath she replied. "I'm sorry Lex, I don't know what to do with my life anymore." She confessed.
"It's okay, hush now. I'm sorry if I was a little harsh on you." Felix brought her closer to him and hugged her protectively. She nuzzles his cheek with hers.
"A little eh?" She chuckled.
"Ok maybe not a little but you get what I mean. I don't ever wanna see you frown anymore. Chin up, smile, and show em' those braces." She chuckles and stands up.
"Thank you Lex, for everything."
"Anything for my baby sis, now since we are now cozy. I trust you will accompany me for tonight's pack gathering." He said, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. Not wanting to argue, she managed to voice out a faint 'yes' and went to her bathroom.
She could hear the door slammed shut. That meant Lex finally left.
She entered the shower and turned it on. As the warm water cascade down her blooded body bit by bit she felt almost clean.
She leaned against the glass wall, and slid down on the cold tile floor. She collected both of her knees and hugged them
"Why me?" She whispered to herself and cried her heart out.

Lyra gazed upon herself on the large full body mirror. She lifted her white blouse exposing her stomach.
A wave of regret washed through her stared into her belly. The scars on her stomach were scattered, they'll be forever stuck on her, reminding her of his rejection.
"Knock, knock," She hastily covered her stomach and reached for the door.
"You're not underdressed are you?" Lex's voice sounded concern.
"No, I'll be out in a few minutes."
Opening the door, Lex was stunned to see Lyra. She wore a loose white blouse and a pair of black fitted jeans. Her hair was knotted in to a sloppy bun, with strands of fine auburn hair resting on her neck. Her pimples have drastically disappeared and she seemed to have gained height or was it the boots she was wearing, he didn't know, all he saw was a different Lyra. A better Lyra.
"Are you just gonna stand there gawking?" She teased.
Shaking his head, he smiled and draped an arm around her.
"You look...um...beautiful." He confessed.
Lyra smiled and walked beside Lex. For a brief moment, she stopped and looked down at her boots.
"What's wrong with me Lex? Why didn't he want me? In everyone's eyes, I'm the daughter of a couple of murderers, murderers who killed your parent Lex, he was the one who told me to be strong and yet he rejects me like I'm some sort of a piece of trash. You shouldn't have had helped me, Lex. In fact, you should hate me." She cried and buried her face to his chest.
He placed the palm of his hand flat on the small of her back and soothed her.
"Hey look at me, Lyra, you and I both know the story, we cannot move to the future if we're too afraid to take a step forward. Forget about it all right?"
She sighed and hugged Lex. "I love you, Big Brother." She nuzzles her cheek on his chest.
Without another word, they proceeded to walk towards the grand hall. As they began their descent down the grand staircase, all of the pack member's eyes were glued to them. Lyra hid behind Lex's muscular frame, afraid she might see her mate.
"Lyra, chin up baby." Lex's reassuring words fuel Lyra.
She no longer hid behind him, instead she climbed down the stair faster than Lex. In Lyra's mind, she wanted to melt. She didn't want the attention projected her way. But nonetheless, she strode straight to the elongated dinner tables that could seat twenty-four wolves.
She sat there alone and awkward. She wished she had waited for Lex.

Lex sauntered towards Ignacios and his chosen mate. In the eyes of the pack members, they were the perfect Alpha and Luna, but Lex saw things differently. To him, it was an unholy display of affection. How could his brother choose dirt over gold? Lois was indeed gifted with feminine assets but she was the pack's 'whore' and while Lyra was a juvenile, he was sure she would grow into a beautiful she wolf someday. "All the right junk in All the right places." He remembered the song.
He places a hand on his elder brother's shoulder, making Ignacios turn to face him.
"Elder brother, hello." Lex said kindly.
"Felix," For a moment he watched his elder brother filter through the air. "She's here isn't she?"
"I don't know, what do you think?" His brother glared at him.
"You will accept Lois as your Luna, obey or run away, it's that simple." His brother almost growled.
"Hmpf, Is that so? Well then, I take it that I am no longer welcome in this pack. Goodbye to you. Ignacios." Lex turned around and ascended the stairs. Ignacios' mouth hanged open as he watched his defiant little brother's back.

Lyra waited for Lex but he never came. She felt alone again and wished she stayed locked up in her room.
Everyone was happily interacting with each other, the loud clattering of forks and spoons was filling up her ears.
She felt out of placed and rejected. Standing up, she walked away from the table of wolves whom she always hated.
Lyra found herself walking to the direction of the kitchen. She needed to visit Ned. As she slid the French door open, she was encased by the wonderful smell of food.
"Lyra! Come in star child!" Ned greeted with a toothy grin.
"What's up Ned?" She asked Edward "Ned" Millard. Ned was the only who truly cared for Lyra. A father figure for her and a hero for all. Ned was a warrior back in the days but retired when he found out about the accident that happened years ago. Since then, he personally took care of Lyra and accepted the role of being a father. And now he resides on the kitchen, making splendid meals for the pack members to indulge.
"What's up Me? How about you!? Do you want me to beat the shit out of him?" Ned joked. But she was certain he half meant it.
"Come here you, old man." Lyra embraced her father into a warm hug and cried on his shoulders.
"Baby look at me," Ned cupped her face between both of his calloused hands. "When the time comes that harlot of a chosen Luna becomes twenty and five, she will be Luna. You mustn't be here tonight, you cannot witness your own mate marking another she wolf ."
Lyra crumbled down. It wasn't just a pack dinner. It was a mating ceremony.
"Go pack your things and leave a letter for Alpha Stylinson. He'll understand." Lyra continued to sob and nodded as Ned instructed her. "Take my car, before its too late go now go! But don't forget to call me!" Ned rushed her.
Lyra jolted up the stairs and into her room and started packing up her belongings. Clothes, money, and pictures.
One particular picture caught her eyes. It was Felix, Ignacios and her rowing a boat. Their smile made her weep.
"I wish we could go back to simpler times." She muttered to herself as she stuffed the picture into her back pocket.
In her mind, she was afraid. She didn't even know where to go. She wrote a letter and neatly placed it on the bed.
With a duffle bag slung around her shoulder, she run through the massive body of wolves.
In the corner of her eyes, she saw him staring at her. Gray eyes filled with disappointment and disgust. A single tear fell as she watched him sank his fangs in his chosen mate's neck. An unfathomable pain coursed through her body. But she didn't stop. She continued to run even faster and reached Ned's car.
With one quick turn of the car key. The iron machine roared and came to life.
Tears cascaded down her cheek as she drove off to nowhere.

So I edited this chapter. Disgusted by the number of typos and grammatical errors, I almost threw my eyes out.
