0 | Prelude - "She wasn't born, she was made."
She had no friends or parents ever seen or heard of. For us, she was just a poor charity kid whom Elite's had adopted for the sake of maintaining their goodwill in society.
The moment she walked through the hallways of our school for the very first time in her plain jeans and ugly, brown glasses, we all knew that her fate was sealed. She could fit nowhere in the complex social hierarchy which existed in our school. And truly, she didn't.
Everyone whom she had approached with the good intention of befriending them shun her away because associating one's self with the likes of her meant living the rest of their life like a heathen in Elite's.
There was no doubt that her sanity snapped every time she tried to understand the new world she was thrust into in the name of good opportunities and a bright future. Things worked very differently in Elite's. People out here didn't make friends, they made allies. It wasn't in our blood to ask for a favor from someone. We bribed to get our things done. We were pretty much straightforward and very professional in everything we did. Every action that we took and every word that we spoke had a motive behind it.
But she couldn't ever understand it and didn't want to either. So she quietly swallowed the rejection we gave her with a smile.
Life went on and people had soon forgotten about her very existence. She wasn't used to that but she was obliged to accept what her life had come to be and move on until she fell in love with a guy, a guy whom she could never get. Not just because he was among the top in the Elite's social hierarchy but also because he was already in love with some other girl and not just any other girl but the one who was ruling the very social hierarchy of Elite's with a sparkly tiara resting on her forehead.
His heart was bound to get broken which in turn broke her heart although she believed that whatever happened was for a good cause. She'd truly believe that her fate was taking a turn for the brighter side of her life. But she was in for a nasty surprise when he had walked away from her just like all the rest of us had. It was inevitable. Everyone had seen it coming, except her. She was too blinded by the illusion of a 'happily-ever-after' in her mind to face reality.
She'd try to swallow this rejection with a smile too but she couldn't. Every time she saw him hurting, she felt mad. She loved him to no bound. No words could ever explain the love she had for him in her heart. She just wanted to see him smile and be happy. If that wasn't possible with her, then perhaps with the very girl he loved undyingly. She was ready to sacrifice her soul, her own happiness and her own peace of mind just to see that one smile radiating on his face. She thought it was all worth it.
But sadly, she was again blinded by the illusion inside her mind and failed to see the reality. A princess never settled for a pauper. This rejection, again, was inevitable. Again, everyone had seen it coming, everyone but her. She pleaded and begged and cried and shrieked but not a word from her reached the princess' ears. She just knew then that she had had enough.
Her very last string of sanity, which she was dearly clinging onto, snapped. She stopped feeling emotions as slowly the sound of her heartbeat failed to reach her ears over her swear of revenge on everyone who was the reason why her life was so miserable. Each day that passed by, she felt less of a human and more of the monster which the world had gradually come to know her as.
But she was hardly to be blamed for the psychopath she had turned out to become. She wasn't born that way, we had made her.
