Lydia- The Pet Communicator

Chapter 14

“Wake up, you two! Wake up! Peter came back!” Lucky yelped. I sat upright on the bed and saw Drake lying next to me, with his hands over my stomach. I got really terrified and started thinking, I have to wake him up before my dad enters my room. He would surely take the whole scene negative and think we made love, or something. Damn it! 

Wake up Drake, please. Open your eyes. My dad came back!” I shook him from his sleep before my father walked in, but Drake didn't respond back and I assumed he was fast asleep.

I got out of my bed immediately, and started adjusting my clothes and hair quickly. Only then, my father walked in my room. He clenched the door knob and gritted his teeth, as his eyes fell on Drake lying on my bed. “What the hell is he doing in your bedroom? I knew this would happen some day. What a pervert!” He yelled angrily.

“Dad, it’s not what you are thinking.. I was feeling dizzy, and there was no one to look after me, so he slept besides me and…”

“And then, what Lydia? He slept with you, right? I wasn't expecting this from you.”

“Shut up Peter. Give them a chance to speak.” Lucky growled, and sunk his teeth into my father's foot heatedly.

“Ouch! Now this stupid mutt is in your favor. You got a good body guard, eh! I won't leave you all. You will surely get a punishment from me. Just wait, and watch.” My father garbled, while clutching his bitten foot.

Drake woke up with the loud voice of my father, and stared at him expressionlessly. I could see his face color draining. “Sir, um, let me explain. Lydia is right. I don’t, I really don't remember when I fell asleep beside her and we didn't do anything. I promise.” Drake stammered as he got out of the bed, while running a hand through his rough hair.

“Yeah right, whatever.” My father spoke furiously.

“Dad, do you think I would sleep with him? You know how much I'm missing Ricky! Clara left me too. You don’t even know what happened with me today. Do you care to ask? You just came in and started yelling at us. Don’t throw your anger on us, if your mood is not good, okay?” I walked out the room angrily, and went running to the shelter. I sat on the stool there and started shedding a lot of tears.

“Lydia, why are you crying? Marwa neighed.

“Yeah, why are you crying? One of the cats purred.

“Did someone hurt you?” The rabbits grumbled.

I forgot these animals could ask me so many questions if I cry here, where to go and cry at this time? I won’t even get any space in this world to be alone now, as all animals talk to me. Great!

“Please guys, can you leave me alone for some time? I am not in a mood of talking.” All of them got silent. I rested my head on my knees, and started crying again.

“Hey young lady, If you step on me I will die!” I looked around me to see who is talking to me.

My vision was all blurry because of crying. I blinked several times, and wiped away my tears.

“Look down here, near your stinky left foot” As I looked down, there was a spider.  It was so tiny. I took it in my palm and smiled at it. “Hey little spider, I am really sorry. Where do you want to go?”

“Put me down okay human!” He crawled all over my arm, then jumped on my leg, and down it went on the ground.

“Be thankful for not getting a spider bite, because I would hate to make another false story like spider man.” I chuckled at his remark and thought. Poor spiders. It's true, they must have faced a lot while the making of that movie, and people are so careless; they squeeze the life out of them, step on them and smash them with something hard to kill them. Also, they are used for experiments in science labs at school. Really, life of spiders and small insects such as ants is totally hopeless.

Soon the spider was out of my sight.

“Lydia, sweetie, I am so sorry. Please listen to daddy.” My father came jogging towards me, Drake and Lucky behind him. He continued speaking while breathing fast,”Drake told me everything. I should have talked to you politely. I am sorry, and I apologized to Drake too.” I looked up at Drake, and he nodded in agreement.

“Lydia, it’s true when Drake told him everything, your father cried by feeling guilty. Please forgive him.” Lucky barked.

I stood up from the stool, and gave out my arms for my father to give me a tight hug. He hugged me back. It felt so good to have my father with me. I missed him a lot when even though he was away for only four days. “Can you and Drake go out for dinner today?” It’s a small request.

I looked at him in shock, “What did you say dad?”

“Yeah, I just learnt that Drake is an amazing guy and after me, he is the one who only trust you. He can take good care of you. Oh, I know you are friends, nothing more. So please have a good time out tonight?” I looked at Drake to see his facial expression, he was grinning with his sparkling eyes, showing off his whites. I nodded nervously. I didn’t know to say a yes or no. But obviously, I would love to go out with him.

“I am coming too, yahoo!” Lucky barked, while wriggling his tail.

“Lucky, when will you ever leave my side?” I rolled my eyes at him and mumbled.

“Actually I like a female dog, that you humans call- a bitch. I want to see her again, so when you go out in the evening take me with you. I don’t want to be at home with Peter.”

“Is he that boring?” I asked out loud intently.

“Who is he talking about?” My father and Drake asked at the same time.

“None of your business guys, it’s not a must to know everything.”

“Okay Lucky, you can go wherever you want, but with only one condition, follow Ricky and spy on him for me. I want to know what he is up to. Do everything quick okay.”
